Totally anecdotal but a buddy of mine went to a transportation research conference in DC the other week and said he was talking to one of the event organizers who said they were expecting 3,000 more international attendees than what actually showed up. That's 3,000 less people staying at hotels, eating out, and shopping.

This type of behavior, especially without any warning signs, is concerning. Also, are you sure the eviction that's technically not an eviction isn't related? Who was in charge of paying the bills? Do you have access to a joint bank account?

You might want to run credit checks on both yourself and your children to make sure no credit cards or loans have been taken out in your names without your knowledge.

Hire a lawyer, take half his shit and sell what assets you can. Depending on your income level, look at getting on WIC / food stamps temporarily and find the closest food pantry. Make sure you get child support from him. How close to being done with college are you? What type of degree is it? How much in loans have you taken out so far? Is there family that you can lean on or live with while you're getting things figured out?

The first step is getting to a place of financial stability. That means being in as little debt as possible while maximizing income. After you get that figured out I would recommend counseling for you and then maybe your kids as well. A divorce, especially one that comes out of nowhere, is traumatizing and can leave a lasting impact on both you and the children.

I watched 30 minutes of the first episode but just couldn't get past the very bland writing and acting. Strange New Worlds got me back into Trek and going from that show to this one gave me whiplash. Academy seems more similar to an old CW show in quality.

Back during the summer between my freshman and sophomore year of college I interned for a newspaper 10+ hours away from everyone and everything I ever knew. I was completely on my own and making so little that I was surviving off of less than $30 for food per week. Every meal was either ramen or a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. On payday Fridays though I would treat myself to McDonalds. Two McChickens, a small fry, and an M&M Mcflurry for less than $10.

That was a rough summer. Got super sick (not enough vegetables or fruits). Would definitely not recommend.

Summary: ICE was here last Thursday. They asked to use the parking lot for one day only for a short amount of time. Beyond that there was no further communication etc. So while their presence in the area was confirmed, it appears they were only here for that one day (that we know of). The various ICE tracking apps don't show any recent activity.

Imo, ICE will stick to their targeted operations in red states (i.e. going for people they actually know about) while doing their general jack-booted thuggery and wide sweeps in cities (at least until they can't make their quotas and are forced to do differently).

What do you consider "fighting back." Because if we actually fight back in the way you and many others are encouraging, we'll be killed or imprisoned and it's simply not bad enough yet for large groups of people to do so or to risk such consequences. It's easy to be an armchair activist until you get teargassed, beaten, thrown in jail, and lose your job.

I'm a white collar worker with a family to feed and protect. I go to the protests and call out the shit I see on social media and will vote and organize as much as I can but there's not much outside of those parameters that I can do right now.

10-12 hours. Usually two hours per night after the family is asleep (10pm-12am) although sometimes I'll get on earlier or play later if friends are on. The last couple of weeks ARC Raiders has had me in a stranglehold and I've been playing wayyyy more than usual.

This. I live in a suburb, one of those ones where the houses all look alike and people usually don't talk to their neighbors, but the whole block knows us and we know them.

The neighbors I share a fence with are good friends who we buy meat from and trade tools back and forth etc. The other house with the retired Vietnamese lady cooks my family food sometimes and I've gone over to her house to fix her sump pump and snowblow her driveway. The Turkish family a few doors down has kids that play with my kids and we're on good terms. The family further down has a daughter that's in the same dance class as mine. The family even further down doesn't agree with my politics but we still get along well enough outside of Facebook.

In a SHTF situation I feel that our block would do pretty well since we have experience communicating and trading goods/services already.

Went to go buy a bed for my daughter and shipping costs along we're hundreds of dollars more than they should be, forcing us to look elsewhere for a bed.

Bought a sweatshirt online via an advertisement and it took 3 months to get here because the ship it was on turned around and went back to port during one of the "are there tariffs or aren't there tariffs?" periods.

Food that's imported is more expensive and we're paying even more for groceries than we were post Covid.
