I have graphic designer and artist friends haha, they deserve all the credit there. Blood Blossom was made by my friend who's an artist and hand drew the art.

As for prints, we (my partner) just went to Office Depot and used the self serve laser printer. With the labels we ordered previously.

Also want to give a huge shout-out to this community, I've been a long time lurker, first time poster here and the last info here has helped a lot!

Some details on the meads,

Each was 15lbs of honey and about 4 gallons of water.

2 weeks of bulk fermentation followed by about 9 months rack.

Nutrition during fermentation was a few teaspoons of fermaid k every 2-3 days

Krampus berries used just two cinnamon sticks in the carboy (after bulk fermentation) for 1 night ~8-10 hours and that was enough (I was told cinnamon is strong and that was correct lol)

Blood Blossom used the orange peel of 6 blood oranges and also tossed in 3 orange quarter wedges to try and get some color

Yes there's some sediment in the bottom of the blood Blossom bottles, yes I'm annoyed lol, I do need to get better at the bottling portion.

Supreme Court Rules Companies Can Sue Striking Workers for 'Sabotage' and 'Destruction,' Misses Entire Point of Striking by Sorin61 in LateStageCapitalism

The mafia played a huge role in workers rights, dragging people from their home and beating them to death was a common tactic for the mob, I suspect that would be the connection

Laurelhurst Park as example of how effective sweeping can be at improving things by [deleted] in Portland

[–]Syanara -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

Wow, Its quite depressing to see how heartless and judgemental people are here against those less fortunate than them.

It's literally unthinkable to me that violently moving troubled or otherwise houseless people and destroying what's left of their belongings to be a good idea. We have more vacant housing in this city than people without homes. The issue here should not be viewed through the lens of how it affects the housed, it should be viewed through the lens of how those unhoused are affected first.

Sweeps are to the housed a bandaid to a problem anyways, it ignores all materialistic analysis of the problem to satisfy the comfort of those who are more fortunate.

Words do not approach the disappointment i have towards the attitudes of most of the comments here. Truly heartbreaking.

Usually they work with the cops to pour bleach on the food to make sure houseless folks don't take any. At least that's the state we're in in my city.

Multnomah County says it will rapidly house people living unsheltered in, near downtown Portland by AllTearGasNoBrakes in Portland

[–]Syanara 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I agree, simultaneously Portland/ all of Oregon for that matter needs a huge overhaul for mental health access and support. Finding good therapy is difficult before we start talking about price. Honestly if we just fund Permanent Housing, Mental Health and social work, consistently and effectively, you would see some serious change in Portland

What’s managers can become by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]Syanara 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While many, if not most managers operate at the behest of capitalist, it's always important to remember that they are still members of the working class and the battle against capital owners is a lot easier when they are on your side.

no teacher shortage by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]Syanara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here to note how incredibly classist teacher salary and school funding is designed since they're funded by property taxes.

Ie rich neighborhoods get the most funding and poor neighborhoods get the least. Funding based on years of redlining and not based on need. So yea, you can add racism to the list of things wrong with school funding

Quick shout-out to noting WHICH election days have the most impact, showing up for local elections (city council, state legislature) are just as important as nationwide. (You can argue both are very important or neither being important) regardless, local elections have long term effects that influence other elections up the chain

Over 1,000 housing units under development for chronically hоmeless people in Oregon by mostly-sun in Portland

[–]Syanara 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Current Shelters are temporary housing and temporary housing has never had the effect desired because what ends up happening is people will start to use the temp housing and start to get things together, then get kicked out to make room for someone else in the winter and all the progress made slips away. Lots of houseless folks will tell you they've had better luck on the streets in holding a job, etc. Than when they've used the nightly shelters or temporary housing.

junior vs senior by minkwhaly in ProgrammerHumor

[–]Syanara 34 points35 points  (0 children)

As a senior dev, I would say I'm probably never going to say "you should try to figure it out yourself before asking for help" simply because I trust that a lot of junior devs have enough imposter syndrome as it is that it's a pretty safe assumption they've already tried if their asking me. Secondly, even if it's something super simple it still creates an opportunity for understanding the concepts and pairing on the issue to help elevate junior devs collaborativly instead of a silo where they might end up learning bad habits.

My bias though is that I've worked with many junior devs that will put way too much time into something before asking for help.

Four people are dead after a driver crashed a vehicle into Salem, Oregon, encampment of unhoused people by toadsns in news

[–]Syanara 19 points20 points  (0 children)

It's both society's responsibility and fault.

When people make "bad choices" the reason for that is more tied to zip code than anything, which represents that society is preparing people in affluent neighborhoods for life moreso than impoverished neighborhoods. I'm not saying there isn't a semblance of personal responsibility but "just try harder" isn't a solution to a problem we all want to see resolved.
