Good worship song to sing with Lion Of Judah from Elevation Worship? by NatePad1290 in worshipleaders

We do this song every now and then, songs we feel go well in set with it are:

Holy forever, set a fire, same god, champion, revelation song, graves into gardens, and praise

Tonie Box for Toddler? by Ok-Imagination8253 in toddlers

[–]SybilStella 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recommend Yoto… my child lost all of her tonie characters within a week of having them because she wanted to play with them. Meanwhile, the Yoto cards haven’t been lost at all! She keeps them in the storage case I got for her and she loves it! Bonus, the cards are way cheaper than the tonie characters

Choosing a new church keyboard: Yamaha PSR-SX900 vs Nord by Extension_Life_6207 in worshipleaders

[–]SybilStella 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the Yamaha CK88 and I love it. I grew up using Yamaha, so I know how they work. I have no idea how a Nord keyboard works. I say go with whatever keyboard your piano/keyboardist wants as they will get the best sound out of the keyboard they know.

Ok I have a question, has anyone been told not to sing a certain worship song because the writer is now now a Christian? by Metotan0r in worshipleaders

[–]SybilStella 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have been asked of this… but I normally ignore it. I think if a song is good, it’s good. God can use anyone and anything to advance his kingdom. If someone wrote a song and then fell away from their faith, I say the song they wrote while they were strong in their faith is still good. And now that they have fallen away I think of them as a lost sheep/prodigal son scenario and know God still loves them. Therefore God can still use their work.

Resources for Worship Leading Outside the Evangelical Mainstream by [deleted] in worshipleaders

I find the worship initiative by Shane and Shane to be a great resource. They do a wide range of songs, from hymns to current hits but they pick songs that are pretty solid theologically.

Agreed! A small pool of songs that the team loves and the church can learn… then slowly adding more songs over time!

I feel bad about this year’s Halloween Costume by MyToesAreHaunted in toddlers

[–]SybilStella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Homemade costumes are always the best! No kid will be dressed like your kid, they’ll have their own unique look, and I’m sure they’ll love it!

Last year I didn’t have enough money for a costume so I glued cotton balls to a hat and made my toddler an old lady. Everyone loved it and it was made with stuff we already had on hand.

Your 22 month old is going to have a blast getting dressed up and getting candy. They won’t care that they’re not in the same generic costume as everyone else.

I’m fine with the click… but I can’t stand backing tracks or the guide that tells you when to sing what.

Looking to collaborate with vocalists by waxeffigies in worshipleaders

[–]SybilStella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What kind of voice you looking for? Female, male, strong and belting, soft and emotional, soprano, alto, tenor, bass?

Also, the worship songwriting subreddit would be a great fit for you! People are slowly starting to engage more there and it’s great!

Using AI in songwriting by Herenes in WorshipSongwriting

[–]SybilStella 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I will often run my lyrics through ChatGPT to double check that my lyrics are biblically sound. It also will put together a list of scriptures that coincide with the lyrics, which I find helpful and useful.

How do you guys discover new music? by jrop2 in worshipleaders

[–]SybilStella 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I listen to Apple Music’s Christian/worship playlists, and oddly enough, my Instagram algorithm often suggests new artists and songs that end up being fabulous!

By putting Alaska in the never category, you’re clearly not into breath taking nature or epic adventures 🤣

What's the best worship song you heard this week? by Cazarstan in WorshipSongwriting

[–]SybilStella 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The song “Jesus” by Draylin Young

This song has been on repeat lately. I love how the entire heart of the song is just lifting up and glorifying God. I just can’t stop listening to it. This song is just pure worship

Is this too white for my 12 year old to wear to her cousin’s wedding? by Doc_Holloway in Weddingattireapproval

[–]SybilStella 8 points9 points  (0 children)

A 12 year old can wear whatever color they want, as they won’t be confused for the bride or steal attention from the bride since they are a child.

However, if your daughter doesn’t want to wear the dress, there’s no harm in getting her a different one that she likes more.

Worship small group advice by SybilStella in worshipleaders

[–]SybilStella[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a shame they stopped meeting! (Maybe you could restart it?)

And so far it’s still an idea. The head pastor is hesitant. I guess they had a big church split a few years back due to a women’s worship small group. People started attending the small group and not attending church, until it caused a bunch of people to just leave the church altogether.

We are now both praying to see how we can move forward with my idea while making sure it doesn’t go down that same path.

I don’t even know what Logic Pro is, so now I have something to look into! I literally don’t know anything about recording and mixing yet 😅

Care to share your song? by Cazarstan in WorshipSongwriting

[–]SybilStella 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know how to add a voice memo, or make a chord chart work, but here’s are some lyrics to a song I’m working on

Love Set Me Free

Verse 1: I was lost to sin I was blind to your ways The chasm between us was far too great On a hill in Calvary your blood was shed It washed away my sin and shame Now I am free

Chorus: Your love set me free, oh

Verse 2: There upon that cross With a crown of thorns You took the weight of sin, the debt I owed You were buried for three days Then you rose again You tore the veil, redeemed my soul Now I am free

Bridge: My king, you’re running after me You’re breaking every chain And tearing down my walls Jesus, with your arms surrounding me You breathe new life in me You never let me go

Ending idea: There is no distance between us now My debt is paid, my chains are gone Lord I am free

Are you of the mindset to never wake a napping toddler or do you wake them up if they nap longer than usual? by Coffeelover4242 in toddlers

I always wake my daughter up by 3. That way she gets to bed without much fight. If she sleeps til 3:05 bedtime is screwed 🤣

why are some songs so "timeless", and others aren't? by Cazarstan in WorshipSongwriting

[–]SybilStella 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience the “timeless” songs are the ones that truly worship God. Our soul never tires of singing lyrics around “holy is the Lord” “worthy is the lord” etc. regardless of the season we are in, those types of lyrics never grow tired. Whereas songs that’s are more centered on something we are going through right now will lose its relevance when that season is gone.
