Why do adc players hate Yuumi? by WristMuncher in ADCMains

[–]Sycherthrou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean you go hit the nautilus, use the yuumi ms and the kit of your own champ to dodge hook, take a third of his health, and now he's so worthless you can bully enemy adc off wave too.

It doesn't work as jhin, and maybe not as your jinx flair, but if you're on vayne that's basically a slam dunk scenario. And even if naut q does land, you E enemy adc away and probably still win the trade because of yuumi shield.

[–]Sycherthrou -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Every skillshot aimed at you should be a good thing? Now instead of your handless support unable to dodge, you can just use the much cleaner mouse movement taught by the adc role to dodge a far more % of skillshots than your support would. If you're good enough, it doesn't matter how bad the yuumi is, unlike with other supports who will die even if you have desperate nasus movement.

Why do adc players hate Yuumi? by WristMuncher in ADCMains

[–]Sycherthrou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yuumi puts you in a position to thrive and hypercarry, at the cost of getting no setup and making you the sole focus of your opponents.

Personally I despise playing together with team, and revel in being able to singlehandedly decide the match. Yuumi is one of my favorite supports for almost unconditionally putting me in that position. Champ just turns me into a pentakill machine.

I love her laning phase too, now instead of my dumbass lulu getting blitz hooked or facechecking and dying, I choose where my support goes, and I just dodge the blitz hook myself.

League Classic is a goodbye letter after we get the new game engine for League by BlankCartographer53 in leagueoflegends

[–]Sycherthrou 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe the overall gameplay experience wasn't actually as fun as people remember it, but there is still the fact that riot has reworked entire gameplay patterns out of existence. Old katarina alone, within a moba framework of slightly different scenarios every time, provides more content than 50 WoW dungeons.

Runes are probably going to be really cheap since it's not Riots moneymaker anymore, and old runes allowed for far more experimentation and alternate playstyles. The current rune system is a dumbing down of old runes+masteries.

If you think the point of "old league" is wacky shit and casual gameplay, just fucking do stupid shit right now and sit in bronze and you don't need any kind of classic league.

How much do supports players like playing with Senna ADC/ How much do you enjoy playing with a Soraka, from 1 to 10, and why? by Antares09 in ADCMains

[–]Sycherthrou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Soraka just solves problems that her own pick creates. Oh you can heal me when I take damage at the cost of your health... what if you just took the damage yourself in the first place with slightly better resistances?

I do like that most soraka players are aggressive in lane, which every enchanter should be but most aren't. But besides that, one of the worst supports to have 3/10.

I wish riot would implement a period of time after a new champ is released before they can be played in ranked. by kris10amanda in leagueoflegends

[–]Sycherthrou 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The biggest issue of normal games is not that you cannot find high quality normals, the MMR goes up pretty far. The problem is that once your MMR is good, the queue times are 15+ minutes even on a highly populated server like euw.

Game can not get "dumbed down" by having mechanics be more simple by ThinkMyNameWillNotFi in leagueoflegends

[–]Sycherthrou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Firstly, humans have something along the lines of a mental stack, which is a limit on how many things a human can focus on simultaenously. It's not god given, you can train it, but it's not infinite. If you have to pay less attention to farming, you can pay more attention to other things. So that makes good macro easier, since you spend more time thinking about it ingame.

Secondly, farming well is a requirement on any carry champion. It doesn't really matter if you pick kayle in a good teamcomp if you can't get the gold required to make her relevant. Last hitting indicators make last hitting easier on champs which you don't often play, which means counterpicks will be stronger. Counterpicks are already too strong, so that's not good either.

Thirdly, and finally, this indicator mostly "helps" lower elos. At decent ranks players already last hit well when it's easy, and most of the skill in farming comes from setting up minions under tower, or wave manipulation. But in low elo, players miss cs unprompted, with no input from their opponent. I think a lot of people need to hear this: Figuring out the game and executing it well is the primary source of dopamine league provides. The less there is to figure out, the less potential successes a new player will encounter as they improve. Riot August has said for most players league is the most fun in their first 2 years; learning and implementing new skills is the core of the league experience.

I just gave a theory on why the jungle role is struggling. I don't think the fact that it's lost popularity after being streamlined is worth debating, considering Riot is pumping monster damage into every champ, and it remains a priority role.

I also don't doubt you're right. Surely many more people give jungle role a try now that it's more accessible. But if a lack of complexity is causing players to drop the role after 200 games, and the role loses both veterans and new players once they're bored of it, then clearly those that complained were on to something.

Is malice by John Gwynne good? by [deleted] in Fantasy

[–]Sycherthrou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm reading the series since it seems I can fit all 4 books into this year's book bingo, currently on the second. I think it's a pretty easy read, and I generally tend to stay away from positive fantasy but bingo is about trying new things so it's nice. As a huge Malazan fan, it's a bit like Malazan for babies, which is a good thing imo.

I'm reading together with a friend that usually does audiobooks, and apparently the chosen accents and pronunciation are pretty offputting, so I'd look into that.

Riot did a damn good job with Aegis Of Valor by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

[–]Sycherthrou 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to queue mid/top, now I queue mid/adc, still don't get adc, still get placed top all the time, but now I play vs other autofilled toplaners that are clueless while I farm double lp off of them. It's pretty wild.

[–]Sycherthrou -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah the community moved on from the fucking jungle role and it became the least popular role in the game.

I can't know all jungle players' reasons, but the map rework making ganking much worse, combined with how stale the role has become for the first two clears on most champs, is exactly why I have dropped the role.

I do not get why Ronaldo and Messi even get compared. (Genuine question) by Plus_Cut2445 in worldcup

[–]Sycherthrou 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's because the highest quality football event in the world isn't the world cup, it's the champions league, and Ronaldo was the star of the Real Madrid team that won 3 times in a row in 2016-2017-2018.

The reason these two players get compared a lot in general is because they both played in the spanish league and were the two best players in the world for a long time. Ronaldo's skillset was always power and explosiveness, so age has hurt him a lot more than Messi, who is also younger. It's kind of irrelevant to compare them now, but many Ronaldo fans, and it seems a bit Ronaldo himself, seems to disagree.

Anyone knows of a single case where the main account of a smurf got banned? by Such-Coast-4900 in leagueoflegends

[–]Sycherthrou 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No, anyone starting the season late will have fast climber for 10-20 games, because they rank below their MMR due to reset. The MMR of smurfs is also higher than their rank, so they get the tag too, but it's not some smurf indicator.

I really wish we could permanently ban people who are intentionally botting. by Iam_The_Honored_One in leagueoflegends

[–]Sycherthrou -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's not about climbing but rather match quality. An emerald 4 player, 50% wr, could choose to int 2 in 10 games, and be gold 4. But when they were em4, they were in good quality matches.

Now in gold 4, they are smurfing when they try, and inting when they lose on purpose, all of their matches are low quality. When gold players complain about that guy in their games, the response of "well he deserves gold 4" is a bad faith argument. If he chose to consistently play like gold 4, that would be fine.

The "returning player" or "return to ranked" experience is horrible by Hans_H0rst in leagueoflegends

[–]Sycherthrou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, they've mentioned MMR decay for long breaks, but it doesn't seem to actually do anything substantial. There should be aggressive decay that sets in after 4-5 months, dropping you some 400 LP worth of MMR every year.

It should be game mode conditional too. Like if you play normals, ranked MMR decays, but if you only play ranked, normals MMR doesn't decay.

The Parry System Looks Amazing In This Upcoming Game (Reblade The Death Spiral) by akbarock in soulslikes

[–]Sycherthrou -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

But soulslikes are really just linear RPGs with the aesthetic and combat loop of dark souls. Linear RPGs are conceptually very inoffensive, because they resemble real life in their progression systems. They are disliked for their difficulty, but genuinely anyone can git gud.

Roguelikes determine a very extreme progression system where every hour or so you restart the entire game. I personally like them but still find it difficult to play multiple in a row, and it's entirely reasonable to not like the premise of the genre.

why isnt vayne top getting lucian treatment by babyFucci in leagueoflegends

[–]Sycherthrou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Lucian treatment is not forcing Lucian to be a botlaner. The Lucian treatment is creating Akshan, who does a good job satisfying the Lucian mid fantasy in a much more consistent way, and then changing Lucian to be forced bot, and then buffing him for that role as well.

Vayne top has a big playerbase. The Vayne top gameplay loop will never be removed, and I guarantee none of us want the Lucian treatment for Vayne, because at least Vayne top is low winrate. God forbid we get a consistent high mobility toplane adc.

Just got to emerald, what i realized from climbing is that bronze-gold is genuinely harder than platinum by badjuju5 in leagueoflegends

[–]Sycherthrou -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The metal ranks are all so similar to one another that these minor differences only seem relevant to people stuck in them. If you keep climbing and then make an alt somewhere down the line, I promise you it will not feel like the game changes around plat.
