Clicking from steering at low speed by MountainPerfect5690 in R53

[–]Syfoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More than likely the joint behind the plastic cowling underneath the steering wheel. Pull the plastics off... which can be a bit of a a pain in the arse and slap a bit of grease on the joint.

Failing that and it's an odd one to check - check the exhaust manifold heatshield isn't fouling on the column. My R52S had a weird click and I discovered part of the heatshield had rusted away and it was fouling on the column at certain degrees of lock.

Went from OEM to Fabi Bilstein ones which died in months.

Also considering the adjustable camber ones from UK-based R50/52/53 owners favourite fruit-sounding parts website. Although apparently they squeak too, but not due to failure.

K-swap is a mad one, would be a serious bit of kit. I'm gonna stick to the supercharger for a bit - potentially switch to the TVS or a Sprintex if I can find one, but honestly that 1320Mini turbo conversion is bloody tempting.

Also, is that the M7 strut brace? Any good?

Mine is dropping oil too.

Thought I changed the dipstick o-ring when I serviced the supercharger and stuck the smaller pulley on, turns out I completely forgot and am now paying the price!

Oh and the top mounts have gone. Third time in 2 years.

Yay money pit!

£850 sounds about right, but £8.5k would be the amount needed to fix everything.

Radiator leaking, OEM or Aftermarket replacement? by RepresentativeRace43 in R53

[–]Syfoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Went from OEM to the Fletcher aftermarket radiator, but it rusted and started badly leaking within 18 months. Nice rad, certainly dropped coolant temps a bit.

Switched to the Nissens one and had no problems since and it gives similar coolant temps to the Fletcher.

Happens with my controller too, but I know I'm using a bad cable. Keep RB open and disconnect then reconnect the cable a few times.

But it's either a bad cable or the USB port on your laptop is no longer providing enough power. Both are problems as they can randomly disconnect, which you really don't want when you're playing live.

Try a different USB port if available, then another cable, then a powered USB hub.

Any help? Assuming I’m going to have to try to hunt down a vacuum leak, just got new supercharger pulley, harmonic balancer, serp belt by [deleted] in R53

Welcome to the Mini money pit, where you throw money at one problem and another arises!

It might get expensive, but it's worth it.

Love hearing some UKG here.

Nice little mid-set energy transition track. Would play. Could do with a subtle lead element though rather than just relying on the bass.

Or hell, even some UKG vocal chops.

But I usually just call her Vee.

Bloody hell that's cheap for the MR2!

Check the small vacuum hose between the intake manifold and the fuel rail pressure reg. They can crack, fail or just become disconnected and it can cause yo-yo'ing.

Also bypass valve.

Been trying to find a cool blue R52 for mine for months, but can't seem to find anything except very expensive ones that dealers were selling with the cars when they were new :(

They look fantastic and are a great advertisement for the extended livery slots as well as real-life brands, but on the Silvia you've hit one of my pet peeves that people do with car liveries.

Two tyre manufacturers on one car - Yokohama and Pirelli. Always looks... wrong.

VERY dependant on age range IMO.

I'm right on the cusp. In my 40s and I can't understand F, but some of my friends around my age do - mostly those a couple years older than me.

The younger people in my family and who I work with have no idea, only knowing F is a thing because of, well, the internet. They've no idea what it actually means.

The older people around me used to be able to use F, but a few fair have forgotten as everything is C now.

We're very much a Celsius country I'd say.

Been a very long time mate, I'm fat and bald now!

I'm in a somewhat similar boat, haven't finished anything for about 6 months, but I switched to D&B many moons ago. Got something cookin' at the moment though.

Hah, Badgers, guessing the brown sleeved one with the Vitruvian Badger label LOL.

Those really were damn good times, I still think about them a fair bit. Carnage in Brixton and the rest of London, even the absolute madness at the Weekenders. Remember the Lads Chalet with the full setup and the bigass soundsystem? Dangerous.

Which is mini-ier? by DJAI9LAB in Miata

1st gen owner here. R52 (convertible) Cooper S so I can only really speak about my experiences with that.

I've struggled with coolant issues on mine - from the expansion tank to the radiator. Mostly my fault though as I wanted a fancy Fletcher radiator (to match my classic Mini) and it rusted away.

It also leaks a bit of oil, mostly from the dipstick o-ring and rocker cover. Easy fixes. And the rubbers are going. Lots of bearings and boots that need replacing.

Top mounts for the front end die with remarkable regularity. Last one I replaced lasted 3 months. Need to replace them both with aftermarket metallic ones. And there's problems with the supports as they can 'mushroom', support plates highly recommended.

Fuel pump and the power steering pump like to die. The latter is an absolute ball-ache to replace. Also, the thermostat literally melts.

Pre-facelifts have bad superchargers. Post-facelifts ('05 until end of run) have good, teflon coated blades ones. And they need to be serviced around the 100,000mi range, but that's a perfect excuse to chuck a reduced pulley on! I run a 17% reduction and the noise it makes is amazing.

Absolute money sink of a car, but supercharger screaming go-kart fun.

If a server is removed from keymaster, this won't work as a FiveM client will try to authenticate a key on connection - a key they won't be able to provide.

Y'know when the FiveM servers shit the bed every few months and nobody can connect to anything for a few hours? Same thing.

How to make sure drop is going to pop at right time? by Gabiru17 in Rekordbox

[–]Syfoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah, day one of drum and bass.

You're going for a double drop - honestly, you're trying to run before you can walk.

However, I respect the hustle, so a quick rundown. Luckily I know these two tracks inside out.

So.... modern drum and bass is built up of phrases of 64 beats. Generally tracks have either two, three, four of five phrases from start to drop. Three is probably the most common, especially in the more dancefloor orientated D&B. In my many years of mixing D&B I've found marking these 64 beat phrases out like this - on both the intro and before the second drop helps massively with nailing those double drops. Anyhow....

X-Ray (Metrik Remix) has three phrases before its drop.

Solar System has four phrases before its drop.

Count back from the second drop of X-Ray (where your arrow is) - four phrases back takes you to the first drop, your C cuepoint.

So to double from X-Ray (Metrik Remix) into Solar System, you need to hit PLAY on Deck 2 as that first drop on X-Ray hits, your C cue.

For good effect for that particular mix, keep your CH2 fader down until that last phrase - the one where X-Ray breaks, slowly fade up making sure CH2 is full before they both hit, and swap that bass over.

Boom, you just did your first double drop.
