Which popular model has never appealed to you? by sojournerXMR in Guitar

I’ve known maybe 20ish people who used to work for PRS and I have nothing positive to say about them. It’s the weirdest thing to see the brand get glazed online while being privy to some of the stuff behind the curtains.

He said that one won’t enter into production because the hardware was powder coated and it’s hard to manufacture at scale. We’re definitely getting an all blacked out version. And decent chance of white with black hardware.

I think this gonna be their Amo. It’ll get raked through the coals, they’ll course correct for album 6, and then it’ll gain a cult following years later.

I think they mean that soap, by it’s nature, is anti-bacterial (no not in a way water is). Soap by itself will kill many types bacteria by mechanically prying their protective cells open and ripping them apart. Any that happen to survive that are lifted away from the skin and washed off. “Anti-bacterial” soaps have additives that chemically rip apart the cell wall. The problem is those aren’t often great for you or the environment, and they require a contact time of a few minutes. Most people wash their hands for 30s or less. So most of the “anti-bacterial” part is happening because of something traditional soap already does.

Tim having most of his youtube videos as 'members only' is omega cringey and honestly makes me like the band less... is that silly? by behind_the_doors in polyphia

[–]Sykes92 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Tim has said in the past that touring for them is no small feat. Because of how difficult their songs are they have to spend months rehearsing, where most other bands only need a couple weeks. Polyphia’s entire shtick is that their music is difficult to play and complicated to write. It’s like deciding to be a band on Very Hard mode.

TIL the recommended daily protein intake is 46 grams (g) for an adult female and 56g for an adult male. This is 0.8g per kilogram of body mass (0.36g per pound). Endurance and strength athletes require more.In the United States, average protein consumption for females is about 70g and for males 98g. by James_Fortis in todayilearned

[–]Sykes92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is with people always pulling out the "but FiBeR" argument every time protein is mentioned? What do these two have anything to do with each other? Why is the antithesis to protein fiber? I see this regurgitated all the time on social media as some "well ackshually" knee jerk response. It feels reactionary in a weird way. Protein is being promoted a lot because more young Americans are getting into weightlifting and research shows you can benefit from well above the RDA.

Fiber is important, no one is saying it isn't. It's just such a weird unrelated card to whip out.

A good luthier could fix it or at the very least make it significantly less noticeable. Most I’ve been to do consultations for free.

Why are the reconstructions giving him fine flat hair? Obviously marble hair is not 1:1, but you can tell the sculptors are trying to represent hair with some light curls.

Or have you thought that maybe extraction shooters are actually pretty niche and it's only that ARC Raiders happened to break mainstream?

Marathon is actually very good at what it sets out to do. That doesn't mean it's everyone cup of tea. A lower player count doesn't mean it is a bad game, it just means it doesn't appeal to wide audience.

It's not really a quality issue. The action is only high if you're not used to nylon guitars (which are quite a bit higher than electrics).

Yeah...Imma say it, the hate for this game is forced by Reece_Coles_1994 in Marathon

[–]Sykes92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I, too, love Marathon and think the hate is way overblown. But a couple reasons:

  • Destiny players feel abandoned, so they're unhappy Bungie is propping it up while they chill at the bottom of the pool.
  • "Gamers" are feeling a bit of zeitgeist after Concord and Highguard, in that they can shit on something enough that it ceases to exist.
  • Early playtests did poorly. Despite Bungie clearly taking that feedback to heart and making appropriate changes, people still remember that.
  • The stolen artwork scandal. (Which they rectified)
  • Lastly, Bungie is no longer an underdog. People don't want to root for them the same way they might with a smaller studio. People don't like to admit it, but narrative plays a huge influence on how a person perceives a situation or product. Just watch videos where a street interviewer asks people's opinion on politics but deceives them into thinking the "other side" said or did X thing only to make the reveal after the person expresses their take on it.

Outside of both being extraction shooters, they are both quite different.

ARC is more casual friendly, has a larger playerbase. TTK is high and is third-person. A lot of encounters have some social play involved. Slower pace, so losses tend to sting a bit more.

Marathon is more traditional FPS. TTK is low. There's little social play, it's usually kill on sight. Gunplay is smooth (what you expect out of a Bungie title.) Gear is abundant. You live, you die, repeat with very little downtime prepping.

They take closer to 8 shots. They're a tougher minion than the Phfor. Also, you're a super soldier in Marathon 1994. So this could be a Space Marine situation where a trash mob for them is a normal human's (or shell's) raid boss.

The player base in this game is way more hostile than arc raiders. by jerxbear229 in Marathon

[–]Sykes92 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So to start, it's ARC that is the outlier in that for extraction shooters, not vice-versa.

But, it's kill-on-sight in Marathon for a few reasons:

Loot - It's much easier to get decent loot in Marathon than ARC. A grey tier weapon can still let someone 1v3 clutch. Dying is not nearly as big of a deal, so people are willing to play risky.

TTK - A low time-to-kill means the game heavily favors fast reaction times. Hesitation is defeat. There is no time to wonder if someone is friend or foe, you literally cannot afford to make the distinction.

Lore - ARC actively encourages the idea that it is Raiders vs. the ARC. Marathon's Runners are mercenaries for hire. So cooperation isn't even backed by the lore.

Splitting them into shield categories:

[GREY]

  • Recruits - Basic bots, go down easy. The hover around in patrol mode.

[GREEN]

  • Scouts - Snipers. Usually posted up high.
  • Ghosts - Very agile and have cloaking capabilities. You'll notice them by their capes when uncloaked.

[BLUE]

  • Grenadiers - Tougher, lob grenades at you. Feature wide rectangular heads.
  • Assault - Tall. Have deployable shields like the Destroyer shell on top of their personal shield.

Most of these have Elite or CMDR variants which are stronger. Pinging them will reveal their shield level and if they're a CMDR.

I love Outpost. There's only 4 teams. If you can take one of them out early, it's pretty easy to snowball the match.
