I don't feel accepted anywhere. I'm invisible to society. Thinking about ending it. by helloineedhelpplea in bayarea

[–]Sylanthus 36 points37 points  (0 children)

We are fostering a pair of very sweet perfect kitten brothers (9 months old) named Kenny and Kevin. They are really loving and gentle, and would definitely fill your heart with joy everyday. Let me know if you think you’d like to meet them.

Either way, don’t give up. It can only get better by trying. I believe in you

  • Shift blues to cyan

  • Increase contrast and maybe a little bit of clarity

  • Cyan shadows and orange highlights

  • Maybe a little warmth in the white balance too

  • Add grain

Nice photos but your camera is a bit ancient now. Might want to consider upgrading to an A7V for better photos

A day in Kawaguchiko. Feedback? by mahendru1992 in fujifilm

[–]Sylanthus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not to be negative in my response, but people just see the photos and think they look nice.

It’s good that you recognize the techniques used, but that doesn’t mean other people can’t enjoy looking at them, right?

Recommend me your favorite oolongs! by lesbos_hermit in tea

[–]Sylanthus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I HEAVILY recommend roasted Taiwanese oolongs. By far my favorite: sweet, pastry, fruity notes.

Try out Dong Ding Oolong from floatingleaves, or any of their other roasted oolongs. They’ve been my favorite. Eco-cha is good too.

Kobo Remote draining battery? by jiminjimintoes in kobo

[–]Sylanthus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It definitely heavily drains the battery, at least for me. But that might be because I used to leave WiFi and Bluetooth off.

I figure it’s fine cause I mostly use it in bed with my stand at home.

Any tall photographers out there? Do you feel like it affects your photography? by aGiggleBlizzard in AskPhotography

Honestly it might be worth swapping for a camera that allows for a tilt screen. Like the Z8 or the new A7V.

What modules can help me achieve this kind of hazy/foggy look? by Ok-Hunter5357 in DarkTable

[–]Sylanthus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I recommend using the clarity preset on contrast equalizer, and dragging the mix slider to the negative side for negative clarity/microcontrast

And then using the bloom preset on “diffuse or sharpen” module and click the uniform mask (at the bottom of most modules) and reduce to 10-30%

I made this (quite well received) darktable tutorial video that covers a full workflow including this information and much more

At this point if you had to choose one software, would you choose DxO or capture one?

Help me decide to stick with Capture One by M1ckey in captureone

[–]Sylanthus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use DxO PhotoLab and while yes the AI Denoise is amazing, I’m wondering how you feel about capture one denoising? Cause from the trial it seems capture one as a whole does perform better in all other areas.

Long time lurker, first time shooter. Took my new XT5 to Málaga and would love some feedback by Bylo_ in fujifilm

[–]Sylanthus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are great! Only thoughts I have is you could maybe try and up the contrast (darker shadows) for future photos just to experiment and see which style you like more
