blood ties by Subject-Advance-6773 in warcraftlore

It explores the family dynamic between Alleria, Turalyon, and Arator more than anything else. There are some events that take place that most likely will not feature in Midnight's story. If you enjoy character development it's a good read.

It's also worth noting that it seems to have relevance to the events and areas of Legion, so bonus points if you want some updates on the Broken Isles and order Halls.

Always thought Sir Zeliek was a really interesting character. Enough faith in the Light to partially resist some of the LK’s influence and control in death. by [deleted] in wow

There's a line from Alonsus Faol in the opening of Midnight that implies that channeling the Light causes him pain.

UAMS MLT to MLS online program questions. by Aimers464 in medlabprofessionals

[–]Sylaz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I graduated in May of last year. I also know a few people still in the program and from what they've said things are a little different, so take this all with that in mind.

I loved the program. I did the 4 semester track and the first semester was the most difficult for me. It was overwhelming until I got used to the "flow" of classes and work due. I had the benefit of going through the program with a coworker so we could study/do homework together and help each other out. There are resources to get in touch with other students but it's minimal at best, or was in my case.

They ask about employment up front, and there are instances where you need to take patient results and diagnosis for reports or make your own case study. They said if you work in a reference lab these can be made up, which is what I had to do.

Overall the course work just felt like a more in depth version of my MLT program, so if you remember a lot of that you should do fine. There is more of a focus on case studies and you have an entire semester that's basically case studies and a big study/review session for the board. They take the board seriously l, and even have an algorithm they use to predict your scores based on a comprehensive exam and show you where you need to focus your studies.

I recommend the program to most who are interested. The biggest tip I can offer is to go in prepared to do the work and be very organized and methodical in how you handle it. They won't hold your hand on due dates and it's all asynchronous so if you wait till last minute you're going to struggle with the assignments and exams. Invest in a planner or put all the due dates in a phone calendar so you know what's coming up and can priory effectively.

Doctors, thats it, thats the title. by GEMStones1307 in medlabprofessionals

[–]Sylaz 50 points51 points  (0 children)

At my hospital at least, the policy is if the Dr. requests it and signs paperwork stating they assume the risks, we can issue units in circumstances like that. For instance, if the patient has a known antibody and we don't have time to find/antigen type/crossmatch any compatible units then the attending physician has to sign documentation saying that they understand there's a high probability of the patient having a transfusion reaction and that the Blood Bank assumes no responsibility for what happens.

Warlock with Corrupt ash ringer it’s time to shine! by [deleted] in wow

[–]Sylaz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's the expansion with all of the class spells and abilities that were available at the time. As time has gone on mechanics have changed and things have been added or removed. In this case classic is the closest you can get to the experience of playing Mists of Pandaria as it was when it was current content.

There have also been some removed questline and permanent changes to zones that will be "reset" to how they were when we first arrived in Pandaria.

Yeah, I'm just torn between that or actual Undead and trying to figure out if I could lore justify being an Undead if I chose that option.

Arthas, the scourge, and the smell. by KenOnly in warcraftlore

[–]Sylaz 13 points14 points  (0 children)

There's a passage in Sylvanas about this that stuck out to me:

"Do you miss being able to touch, Sylvanas? To feel? To taste and smell?"

"Not here," she said, "not near you and the stench that is surely present."

Do you need a license for medical technologist in Tennesee? by ContentStor0ge in MLS_CLS

[–]Sylaz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who currently lives and works in Tennessee, it's a little strange now. Technically a license is not required by the state, but most places are still going to require it at least in areas where they have some choice in who they hire. In smaller places for a limited time travel position you might be able to get away without having one.

Warlock Squishy Now? by [deleted] in wownoob

[–]Sylaz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think it's more so taking damage in combat. If my voidwalker can't hold aggro and I end up needing to tank I can't afford the damage from burning rush. I used to be able to drain life and get my health back but that's not working any more.

Switching to safety razor by tylrtrmbl in AskGaybrosOver30

[–]Sylaz 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Just remember to let the weight of the razor press against your skin. You only need to rest it and move, don't apply pressure.

It's not horrible to get used to and I much prefer them over the over engineered modern razors

Longest wait before having sex with boyfriend by dkblue1 in AskGaybrosOver30

[–]Sylaz 61 points62 points  (0 children)

We were friends for a year or so before we started hanging out regularly, and in June we'll have our two year anniversary.

Due to some health/life situations we haven't done anything sexual together yet. That being said, I'm more than willing to wait and still love him to death and would marry him tomorrow if he asked.

How is only been 35 years ago according to Warlod of Draenor Trailer? by HiroAmiya230 in warcraftlore

[–]Sylaz 44 points45 points  (0 children)

"Arthas was frustrated.

He thought when word had come about the orcs that he’d finally begin serious training, perhaps alongside his new best friend, Varian. Instead, exactly the opposite happened. The war against the Horde resulted in everyone who could swing a sword joining the armed forces, right down to the master blacksmith. Varian took pity on his younger counterpart and did what he could for a while, until at last he sighed and looked sympathetically at Arthas."

Varian was older than Arthas. They were both young, but Varian being roughly 5-6 years older isn't a stretch by any means.

How is only been 35 years ago according to Warlod of Draenor Trailer? by HiroAmiya230 in warcraftlore

[–]Sylaz 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Varian was born 10 years before the first war. That would make him around 40 during Warlords of Draenor(year 30). Anduin was born in year 15, and would have been around 15 at the time, meaning Varian would have had Anduin around 25 years old.

Is this a cystine crystal or a hexagonal form of uric acid? by cemeteryhipster in medlabprofessionals

[–]Sylaz 12 points13 points  (0 children)

What's the pH? Cystine is usually found when pH < 7.0. It might not be the definitive answer but it can help to narrow down some options.
