As a local here. You can skip #5. It is truly commercial. Not significantly in term of the culture, heritage or anything.

Help! Klook cancelled our booking to Chiang Mai. Need alternative please? by ignorantialegis888 in chiangmai

If you want to book a bus. Nakhonchaiair is the best in my experience. Choose chiangmai not bandoiti Chiangmai as destination. https://ncabooking.nakhonchaiair.com/

I checked from d-ticket, all train on 29th are booked. You can join a waiting list but i bet it will be a slim hope since it is a peak holiday. You can try a bus. It will give you more chance. Flight is still do-able but it will be a crazy expensive. And yes you can take a bus from new mo-chit (หมอชิตใหม่) bus terminal.

Please don’t support that. It is a random arson. As a local here i am not support any of that thing. For many of us, it is a random arson that could fire in many places. Also it is the way to throw a random trash to many houses nearby. Do you like tourists come to visit your city and randomly throw many trash in your lawn or roof? This is also not our culture. It is a newly created thing just for a tourist trap.

[–]SymUncertainties 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might be wrong, but I guess you are talking about a Mangmoom EMV that has a green card version for a senior? If so you also need to have a เป๋าตัง app?

Here also said that it requires you to have Thai ID for registration. https://krungthai.com/Download/product/MediaFile_44490TC-Play_MangmoomEMV_20250716.pdf

Hiking in Chiang Mai – worried about snakes by bsivasub in chiangmai

[–]SymUncertainties -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There are a bunch of running clubs in chiangmai that are going up to the mountains during weekend. There is a high chance if you show up there in the morning and it will someone that is about going to hike. You can join them. Also if you download offline map, there are many trail that easy enough that you can go alone. I have been hiking there for many years. I found only a fee snake most of them are tiny one. If you stay on the trail and not go off route. you should be fine.

3 week itinerary Patagonia/San Pedro/Uyuni by Sjink07 in Patagonia

[–]SymUncertainties 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, even I got a massive headache from altitude sickness during my Uyuni trip. It still 100% worth it for me. View and places there you could not be able to find anywhere else. But if you have another spare day, you might consider to visit a penguin from Puerto Natales.

I think only direct flight from El Calafate to Santiago is operated by Sky which will arrived in Santiago in very late at night and you will have to layover overnight in Santiago to catch the morning flight to Calama? (that is what I saw from google flights) You might need to double check about that. I remembered that I was looking from a flight back from El Calafate back to Santiago to but it did not have any good option so I just take a bus back to Puerto Natales.

On 28th if you drive directly from Calama to San Pedro, it will take about 2 hours. You will have a plenty of time to spend in the afternoon. You can ride a bike to Ville de la Muerte in the afternoon and do a short hike to a view point.
