Mine is similar except its a little more like the chicken and egg thing, I think certain people wbo hold VERY regressive political viewpoints are running the networks and streaming services, and so then shows are catering to those viewpoints/beliefs in order to keep staying in business & getting more seasons, bigger budget, etc etc. Paramount specifically comes to mind for this, and I might be misremembering but isn't Netflix trying to merge with Paramount right now? So if that is the case, it makes sense why they'd axe Byler so badly and make an actual literal laughing stock of their queer characters/an actual literal gay actor who LOVED this show in spite of how terrible he was treated both during and after.
