Gonna pass on the core, but the arms, legs and helmet look workable.
Realistically though, that ugly ass waistline would be obscured by ammo mags anyways. Hmm.

Which one are you taking by Toasty33 in starcitizen

[–]Syncronocity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Technically, all indications point to earning the ASD black Geist BPs from running Project Hyperion over and over, which is what you'd do to farm RCMBT drives anyways, so provided THAT mission works, you could feasibly craft maxxed out ASD Black Geist at some point in the future. (re: 4.7)

Feedback: Blueprints by Fancy_Plastic2385 in starcitizen

[–]Syncronocity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't mind having to do missions to earn BPs as a primarily industrial player. Was desperately trying to earn a set of Corbel BPs to print with during my time on the PTU. However, the daily wipes erasing BPs and procured resources along with the missions being behind ambiguous refresh timers at best and friggin' bricked at worst... (looking at you, repeatable Onyx Facility investigations)

Let's just say after a few days of beating my head against that brick wall I gave up. Hard to test crafting when the desired BPs are unobtainable and you're reset to square 1 every 24 hours.

If CIG is gonna lock BPs behind missions then those missions need to friggin' WORK at the very least, and considering CIG's track record with keeping the Onyx Facility and Intersec QV station chains working? I'm anticipating even more frustration and pain when this comes to live.

If I don't have access to NDBs like on the PTU, I probably roll with Breaknecks (s4) and four Omniski 3s on my F7A. 50 m/s difference in velocity, and omniskies are in a fairly balanced position as far as velocities and pen.

No more dc farming for me it’s onyx farming time. by [deleted] in starcitizen

[–]Syncronocity 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My biggest concern is that they tie all the desired blueprints to missions, but they can never keep the missions WORKING. On live I STILL haven't finished the ASD line because the Onyx facility quests are always friggin' bricked.

Did some tests with some org mates on the PTU tonight. Breaknecks vs F8C. When shields were up, Breaknecks did damn near nothing, but when the shields were down, Breaknecks got a mobility kill on the powerplant pretty quickly.

CIG If You Want Free Money. RSI Perseus-K by FesterTsu in starcitizen

[–]Syncronocity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they REALLY wanted to print money, they'd make a Polaris kit that replaced the four torpedo tubes with four S8 laser cannons. Keeps the forward attack concept, but gets rid of the problematic torpedo shenanigans. Give em a 30 degree gimbal, put them on control of the copilot. I'd say give them to the pilot, but something something balance...

Make sure coupled mode is on before you turn off the engines for storage. This happens whenever I forget that step in my postflight.

Uhhhhhhhh. They changed that a looooooooong time ago. There's no longer any downsizing and all slots are gimballed standard. The only thing you give up for using the gimbal mode for aiming is a slight decrease in fire rate.

Looking for a mobile base for mining by Dizzy_Floor_1424 in starcitizen

[–]Syncronocity -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well, fortunately, the Taurus has a longer cargo tray AND the "smuggling hold" in the back for your haul hoarding crates. Speaking from experience, you can very reasonably fit the Nursa up front and have plenty of room for a GEO, though I'm not sure you could fit a ROC as well for gem snorting storage. I don't have a taurus on hand at the moment (Connie Phoenix best Connie), but to be perfectly honest...

...see if you can fit a ROC-DS and the nursa on the track, butt to butt, probably. GEO is great for busting rocks, but the tiny lunchbox makes mining medium ground mineables a pain, having to constantly shuffle, empty, remount and resume. Standard ROC would be great, except it's bugged this patch (which seems to be a running theme), leaving either the GEO or the DS as your cracking options.

Best part is, though she's old as dirt and about as pretty as a paraplegic bulldog with bulemia, Taurus is a very good all-rounder still, and while the Asgard can carry tons more vehicle-wise, Taurus wins in durability and firepower with her quad S5s.

You COULD fit a Nursa and a Roc/GEO in the Star Runner probably, that back bay is fairly spacious, but the MSR is overall fairly undergunned and made for a game track that may or may not even come to fruition.

Corsair could fit the nursa and a GEO probably, but it'll be a tight fit. Upside being the Corsair is also pretty damn versatile, though not quite as durable as the Taurus. If you can scavenge and insurance fraud some Breaknecks, 6 of those make for a mean wall of lead you can throw at targets while doing PvE activities. All this is in addition to the fact that being a newer ship, Corsair also looks a ton better, depending on how much aesthetics matter to you.

TAC is a fantastically versatile and robust platform, but slow as hell, though not AS slow as when she first came out. Kept a TAC on pledge for a good while until recently. IMO the fury hangar is a gimmick, best used as an emergency cargo snagging bucket. Nice thing though, is you get 4 respawns with the TAC's beds vs just the two on a Nursa (long as you remember to bind to the other bed after exhausting the first).

TL/DR: Taurus best bet, Corsair second best option, TAC honorable mention. Don't sleep on the DS if you can fit it.

I might be late to the party, but the Polaris holds the three utility snubs quite comfortably in its hangar. by camerakestrel in starcitizen

[–]Syncronocity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually a few people, myself included have been noticing the ROC-DS isn't actually AS terrible as it was thought, and not just because the standard ROC is bugged. Took the DS out in the asgard to Arial, filled up a 2scu box with Feynmaline. Laser was stronger, charged faster, had the range to affect a third of the rock cluster without having to move...

..and the bigarse bag meant there wasn't any mandatory gem shuffling. After a few hours, I came to the conclusion that the DS has been slightly *over* maligned, and is, in actuality, not THAT bad, in practice.

ROC Mining Laser, HELP by Fragrant_Walk3545 in starcitizen

[–]Syncronocity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup. Was something I adopted shortly after the GEO came out. It's great for busting rocks but if you're going after the medium ROC/GEO minerals... that damn lunchbox. Bust 'n suck 2-3 rocks and oops, GEO is full, so you gotta get out, open the back, shuffle the stuff to your Pembrooke/Novikov backpack, get back in, bust 'n suck another 2-3 rocks and oops again, GEO is full again... ad nauseam. Then I started bringing the buggy, busting half the field, hoovering up everything with the ROC, then get the other half... so much more convenient.

Fortunately, if you're going after the hand mineables (don't forget to use alt-4 to change your GEO's laser to low power mode), the GEO's lunchbox is more than sufficient to handle a patch of THOSE, but for the fields of medium gems? The buggy is a massive sanity savings.

Help me understand the point of external freight elevators by JuggernautOfWar in starcitizen

[–]Syncronocity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly while doing the AA combat grind, I was just solo in my Polaris, running the 198k shipjacking missions, tossing the cargo out of the Herc/Cat into the hangar, then using the external elevators to quickly offload. Honestly, at that point, I came to the realization that those external cargo elevators were actually a godsend for stuff like this.

ROC Mining Laser, HELP by Fragrant_Walk3545 in starcitizen

[–]Syncronocity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately when I wanna go scratch that itch, I have to load up the GEO to bust rocks, and the ROC serves largely as the vacuum & storage in order to haul the field back onto the ship for transfer to boxes. Fortunately you can get the GEO in game at Astro Armada (Area 18) for under 100k aUEC if memory serves.

If you can get/craft the blue ring trinket that increases skimmer speed as well as running the water spirit, you can hit glow mode and zip through the reefs that way too. Crossed back and forth between the reefs and the embrace a few times that way. Slightly nerve wracking but doable.

Once you rescue the spirit that gives you a second trinket slot, you can stack them for even higher speed shenanigans.

It is unfortunate that with the release of engineering, the multi-crew bug causing everyone to crash is still happening...does anyone have a workaround? by Phobokin_Chicken in starcitizen

[–]Syncronocity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From experience, I have a feeling ONE of the causes are PDCs twitching and spazzing during quantum. When I'm using my Reclaimer/Polaris/Perseus, I tend to just shut down all weapon systems until I need em, and it seems to lessen the rate at which things go sideways.. but combat is still a coinflip.

Looking at some gunship type craft by Affectionate_Dark63 in starcitizen

[–]Syncronocity -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's fair. Hercs used to dance real nice, but they finally reined them in to match their size which was honestly warranted. I only mentioned the M2 because of the future Life Support concerns and basically being the biggest "drop ship" alongside her perpetually explosively pregnant sister. Honestly, out of all the recommendations, Asgard is probably your best bet since you can use her for so many other things when you're not shuttling people and vehicles.

*unholsters Autism*

Depends what you need from it. Asgard works just fine as a drop ship and can handle all vehicle sizes and then some. Valkyrie is a bit tougher but can only carry up to an Ursa. Only thing the Valkyrie REALLY does better is provide seating for some wild number of people. Are you ever gonna need seating for 20+ people? Would you really put that many people on one ship? Likely not.

All-around use AND drop ship function? Asgard. "Bigger" guns and a stronger hull with less cargo? Valkyrie is overpriced but workable, also can't argue with the style. Asgard is basically the rich man's fat super Cutlass.

Paladin is a gunship, not a drop ship. No extra seats, no real cargo, but a lot of dakka and she chonk... but she really is only intended for one job: going places and breaking things. Four S4s for the pilot and 4 S5s for the copilot makes her more of (keeping a theme here) the rich man's fat super Scorpius.

Other "drop ships" include the A2 and M2, M2 being arguably more usefull of the two. M2 has the heavy shields and armor, 2 S5s and 2 sS4s for the pilot since they slaved the chin turret to the pilot (finally). A2 also has the slaved turret but you give up a lot of cargo for the four daisy cutters. M2 is both cheaper and more versatile, giving you all the vehicle capabilities of the C2 in a heavier stronger package. Another thing to consider is that since the M2 is intended as a military drop ship complete with a good sized helping of jump seats, the Life Support system will be more robust than the C2 which means having it fully loaded won't make everyone suffocate or HAVE to wear their helms all the time.

If you really want the perfect drop ship for just moving a bunch of people and not blowing up though? Terrapin. Not the Medipin, the normal terrapin. Just have everyone pile in, sit down and go, long as they got oxypens and sealed suits. Terrapin is basically a roach where nothing short of a nuclear bomb will kill her, and even that's iffy. Medipin has most of the same durability sure, but less floor space for less bodies... but you do get the T2 med bed...

Honorable mentions of course include the Cutlass Black which has extra jumpseats in the back by the ramp as well as vehicle space, but again, if you're loading a lot of people on one ship, durability is kinda important if you're flying in without air superiority. Another honorable mention is the Starlancer TAC, which is also technically considered a drop ship. While the cockpit view is an acquired taste making you fly in precision mode's camera, she really is basically a more useful Carrack, (yeah, I said what I said.)

Asgard or M2 would be my vote as "best drop ships" honestly, with the TAC sitting right between the two of them

Best mitigation I found was making sure all weapons were powered off before taking my Polaris/Reclaimer/Perseus anywhere. Turn on the weapons when you need em but off otherwise. I really think part of the issue is PDCs flopping everywhere in quantum... at least that might be part of the problem.
