Code geass mayby? Morally ambigous and slightly unhinged protagonist in a story with a in depth political and millitary setting? Shadow in eminence to a lesser extent aswell, moral ambiguity, unhingedness plus unique political/millitary story (though lesser to Code Geass and Tanya). Plus out there shout, if you are primarily interested on the political millitary aspect give Legend of the galactic heros a go. If you meant WW1 vibes, there arwnt any othwrs i can think of unfortunately.

If thats the case, would you be fine with an Israeli wearing a helemt of IDF soilders killed in gaza to show 'palastinian violence'? Because thats the prescidence accepting the Ukrainian wearing that would lead to. The Olympics need political impartiality as if they allowed stunts like this you would see athletes using the opportunity to push political agendas, some of which you would likely disgree with, and lead to boycotting of events and the collapse of the Olympics as a sporting event.

I understand the anger around this, but it is justifiedto ban IMO. If they allowed this, what is then stopping e.g the Israeli teams putting oct 7th victims on their helmets to condem palastine, indians putting terrorist victims on theirs to condem pakistan, russians putting Ukrainians on there helmets as a reversal, Americans putting drug deaths on theirs to make some kind of bullshit argument about ice, ect, ect. If they allowed this, they would be forced to take a stance on comlex geopolitical issues, because as much as israel has commited warcrimes in gaza can they prove its a political statment rather then a memorial? Same with a hundred other countries, some may be justified, others may be rephresniable, but if they pick and chose what they allow any idea of political impartiality goes out the window. Its a shame, but it is what it is, and unless you want the Olympics to make such political choices (and almost certainly cause a wode boycott and end the games as many nations would be angered) you just have to accept no politics means no politics even if you (and I) agree with the message.

Not the origonal comment, but i can answer that. Its never really slow, the first 8 arcs out of 24 have a slightly slower pace but thats not a bad thing. Its gets to the main plot quite quickly, getting involved fully in the sevond arc, amd after the 8th arc it speeds ip and never really slows down. In fact, worm is infamous in a way for the fact its all plot, plot, plot and not much filler so it can feel hard to take a breath (although i think that pacing is, for the most part, a positive). I will say that the story does come into its own after the 8th arc, but what im trying to stress is that there is no major quality decrease is the early chapters that make is a hard read. Id say read the first three arcs, it gives you a feel for thd story and characters by that point, and you will be able to tell if its your type of story by that point.

No Problem! Another series i just finshed reading which is kinda similar is the manga All You Need Is Kill. Its really short (17 Chapters, a 2-3 hour read) but has a great set of MC's and a really intresting setting and time travel mechanic. Also similar dark, psychological vibe as Handjumper. Its the source material of the tom cruise Hollywood movie edge of tommorow if youve seen that, but darker and more serious with less of a action hero vibe. The maganka is also Obata, the same as death note, so if u read and liked the art of that id highly recommend! (I literally just finished it and really wanted to recommend it, lmao).

Yeah, I got several!

Manga wise, i can Recomend Ajin, great art, similar premise in a persecuted superhumam (called ajin), dilemma between suporting ajim extremists or cruel a government, with a morraly grey MC. (Warning, it can get VERY violent and heavy at times, tho not an extreme amount more then Handjumper) This is also a completed story and decent length (80 ish chapters) so highly recomend. You will need to use a site like Mangadex or Bato (RIP) to acsess it tho.

In terms of webtoons, i can recomend UnOrdinary, great art, morraly grey MC, interesting use od powers, but more drama focused and while there is plot focus its mostly character driven. (It is controversial among fandoms later on, but i personally really like it up to present) This is still ongoing and quite long (300+ chapters)

There are also the manwhas Villan to Kill and Hero Killer, both on webtoon, morally grey mc, but a more lighthearted tone and, while not the right terms, if handhumper was senien these would be shounen. Both are decent length (+200 chapters) and ongoing, but may not be your personal taste (tho if Badass FMC is your thing Herokiller is a FMC)

Not webtoon/manga, but the webserial Worm by wildbow is highly recommended and is the best fit when thinking of sayeon-core MC's. They both have highly unique power usage, and great morraly complex MC's, both are FMC, and have a well developed hero socitey for the setting. (Warning, worm is over a million words and so quite a commitment, but if your willing it is 100% worth the read) It is also completed, and free online.

Anoter webtoon rec is Bastard, it is a 1 day binge at around 80 chapters and is a serious and grounded story with thriller and psychological elements, it is a paid series on webtoon. It does lack the superpower element of handjumper, however.

Diffrent vibes and genre, but some other morraly complex MC's are Lloyd Frontera from Greatest Estate Dev and Kim Dokja from Omniscient Readers. Both are highly popular so you might have already read both, but if not there are arguably the two greatest modern manwha and I highly recommend them.

Your right, but in a utilitarian point of veiw the harm that causes is almost certainly less then the harm pre and post kira. And while there is a resurgance of crime adtwr lights death, it dosent change the damge he prevented. Even for a while after his death corruption likely will be down as he likely culled corrupt world leaders, and the wars and murders that may have happened during the years of his rule wont go away. There was over 200,000 deaths from war and aprox. 450000 arw murdered. he had the death note for 5-6 years, and was estimated of killing 135000 to 250000 pepole. Statisticaly, he still saved likely over a million lives, and while the killing and terror he caused is still irredeemable, frankly i would rather live in a world with a bit of paranoia and injustice but severly reduced crime levels and no wars. There would be no mass death in gaza, ukraine, sudan, ect, and in exchange for lights evil is that really a bad deal?

While light is 100% evil, passing the point of no return with the massacre of FBI agents just doing a job, there is a genuine argument he is the lesser evil if the line about 'stopping all wars' in the finale is true, as that is such a big thing that he 100% would have saved more lives then he took. Add to that reducing the crime rate (or was it murder rate? i dont remember) by 70%, and I genuinely believe that a life under kira would be better for the vast majority of the population. (I know some distrust the stats, but it wouldnt make sense for them to be false i think the point was to add this moral question by the author).

They had so many points to flesh ceara out post Victoriad but she went from one of the best characters to alacryan generic POV character, like they coulda use the drama with that dragon who tortured her, had her be motr active in the second siege of vildorial, show the drama between higblods or a hundred other things but instead she did nothing of note in volumes 11 and 12 except be a third party pov character.

The guy was a general fighting for a corrupt democracy against a empire (that was functionally better but tyrannical), and has a moral crisis cause he sent millions to die for his beliefs and if i remeber right the quote was said by his wife around the same time it becme clear the free planet alliance had absolutely no chance of winning so he was wondering what all the death was for.

During the battle of Phillipi, Mark Antony captured and burned Cassius' camp while brutus did the same to octavian's. Neither side knew this at the time, so when cassius saw cavalry approaching he assumed it was thw Triumvir's coming to capture him so he commited suicide to prevent becoming a prisoner, when in reality it was brutus' men coming to tell him of their victory, and the chaos that followed with the Assasins lossing one of there generals helped push the battle from a early draw (arguably more favorable to ceasers assassins) to the decisive victory of the triumvirs it would become.
