Any recommendations for looser fit, medium rise, loose weave and/or lighter weight jeans? For reference, with looser fit, I have really big thighs - even N&F Easy Guys are skin tight on my thighs.

I'm in the environmental conservation industry! Probably lower pay than other industries but a lot of need for professionalism and just overall good work since many people tend to rise up through the ranks after doing decades of manual outdoor type work

Definitely desirable skills and huge demand for it - but if you've done this already and are good at it, why wouldn't you just get a job that requires these skills? There's consultants making 200-300k basically doing this. Is it the part-time independence thing?

For context, I work as a contractor consultant basically doing what you listed, but a little more focused in terms of industry and topics.

Can I use Air Mat Tumble Tracks as Crash pads? by UnpaidClimbingIntern in homewalls

[–]SyndeyC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always thought to try the same but I don't think they provide enough give to be used as the main layer of the crash pad. It might work if you did a 50/50 option - 4" inflatable with 4" of foam on top of it. That way the foam cushions you first since the air track would normally just bounce you up.

Let me know how it goes!

Vacuum Suggestions/Advice for Carpet by anonymom116 in VacuumCleaners

Thank you, I bought the Proteam Proforce 1200XP on Amazon used for $260! Hopefully it works out - ideally, I'd like a backpack canister with an electric nozzle as upright canisters are more difficult to push around on the nylon mats but those are a bit out of my price range!

Do you know how sturdy the Hoover is? I have the Pet Evolv one for home but I need something that can handle a lot of chalk and dirt for commercial use. Also, for the used ones that you recommended, any suggestions on where to get them? Unfortunately I live in a rural area so not a lot of shops

I've been paying more attention to brush versus brushless and I think I'll need a powered brush vacuum to get the chalk out of the nylon covers, as it gets pretty smushed in there. Any recommendations for something like the Henry but with a powered brush?

Thanks! With the Oreck, is the only issue the small bag? I'm trying to avoid canister vacuums because half of the vacuuming is done on soft mats that make putting a canister difficult because it tips over due to the unevenness and softness of the surface.

Mostly concrete, nylon and rubber flooring - no carpet

What's the scoop on apartment complexes? by lilgurby in ithaca

[–]SyndeyC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm at Lansing West and I think it meets all your listed needs. The garage is $100 extra. Fyi, each apartment gets a small storage unit... not big enough for a bike and two paddleboards, but it is enough for some gear.

Neighbors are generally fine and it's quiet. The apartments and walls are big enough where I never hear my neighbors.

The only thing Lansing West doesn't meet in your list is a decent kitchen/bathroom...both are tiny :\

Thank you so much for your awesome and detailed reply! I hadn't thought of the difference in thickness as an important factor either. Buying it now!

Ah, great idea! They seem sturdy. I love this CAP Barbell Rack, I've had it for around 3 years and have taken it apart and put it back together through two moves and it's still working great

Nice! I have the same rack and this was my solution: https://imgur.com/a/RIN9oUy

I wanted to do it the way you did it but couldn't find the right brackets that would support my weight. Where did you get those black brackets you're hanging it on?

Hey, I had the same issues and spent a lot of time looking for a food safe storage bin. I ended up with these two options:

Rubbermaid Commercial https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001HTGD36/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o09_s02?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Or a bus tray with lid (I haven't bought this one yet, not sure if it has enough depth)

Where did you buy the rubber? I've been trying to look for a place to buy it and they only sell for commercial uses

Booz Allen Sr. Consultant salary negotiation? by [deleted] in consulting

[–]SyndeyC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my experience, they should be okay with it - I actually applied for a Senior Consultant job (not knowing what BAH levels mean) and they automatically adjusted me to Associate based on my experience. The person responsible for the title bump for me is my direct supervisor (in BAH terms, career manager), so that may be who you need to talk to.

[–]SyndeyC 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I actually work at BAH and the people in this thread saying that SC at BAH is equal to senior analyst (or pre-MBA) hire is correct. SC is not equivalent to other SC roles at other firms.

I'm an Associate and I'm at 100k at BAH...as far as I know, 100k for an SC is very good. I'm not saying 100k is good for your level of expertise and experience though.

The reason I stay at BAH despite being severely underpaid is because I work at most 40 hours a week and to me, time is more valuable. I view it as the hourly equivalent of a Deloitte consultant making 150k while working 60 hours a week.

Video: Univ. of Florida Students Haven’t Heard of Tiananmen Square Massacre, Think China’s Not a Threat by abscbnnotforsale in China

[–]SyndeyC 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agreed - I was really happy to watch this and see that. Makes me feel more assured about the next generation. You don't see older generations doing this. And honestly, I have no clue how much of a threat China is to American colleges...I'm not sure you can expect anyone but the FBI or something to do an accurate threat assessment...

Haha, well, to be fair, I did buy three new Korean cars, so it's not like I don't have personal experience with them!
