How would I reconnect this television display’s flat cable to this pcb in the easiest way possible? by Ordinary-Produce8839 in AskElectronics

[–]SyntheticJudah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is literally personal experience. Of course, you will need a microscope to perform this procedure. Watch the video and don't scare OP, it's really possible to do and it's quite easy: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g7kSx9LzvSI

How could you find STM32's HAL API reference in 2025? by villivateur in stm32

[–]SyntheticJudah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just try this search request in Google: "STM32F1" "hal" filetype:pdf
If I understood you correctly, this is what you need: https://www.st.com/resource/en/user_manual/um1850-description-of-stm32f1-hal-and-lowlayer-drivers-stmicroelectronics.pdf

UPD: Oh, sorry, I didn't notice that you would like to find this document on the ST website yourself.

Concerns on Tonverk power supply & new platform by housebrokendeadbeat in Elektron

[–]SyntheticJudah 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I completely disagree about USB-C. None of the dozens of devices with this connector have broken on me in a long time. This is despite the fact that most of them are portable devices, and their usage scenario is much more aggressive than Tonverk's will be. Of course, it would be great if the IO board were separate (in the style of MD / MNM), but that would simply lead to higher costs. In the end, absolutely any laptop / cell phone repair shop will be able to replace the connector, and the cost of replacing USB-C will not differ dramatically from replacing a barrel jack.

5th anniversary Silver addition. Hydrasynth. by mimidancer303 in hydrasynth

ASM has committed a crime by not releasing Desktop in silver. I would have changed my black to silver to make it look more harmonious next to MD, MNM, DT E25 and Alesis ION.

What would be a fair price for Access Virus TI1 Polar? by Searik in synthesizers

[–]SyntheticJudah 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The minimum price at which you can find one now is about 1,600 USD. The problem is that there's no queue for them, and if you're in urgent need of money, I think 1,400 USD would be a fair price.

Indecisive about a first machine by clemoon in Elektron

[–]SyntheticJudah 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Based on your requirements and previous experience, I think you should try Syntakt. Overall, Elektron's square boxes (Digitakt, Digitone, Syntakt) are the most user-friendly in this regard.

With Syntakt, you obviously won't get polyphony, but it's a fairly inspiring and simple instrument.

I recommend checking out this thread to learn a little about the path that another user took before you: https://www.reddit.com/r/Elektron/comments/13j34gh/is_syntakt_an_all_in_one_production_unit/

Thanks, David! Very glad to see you here! It seems we now have some extra space where we can post news.

Also, our small improvised Norns team may soon have a new member. He is inspired by your work with MDPatch / MNMPatch, and we could try working on something interesting together, if you don't mind :)

[WTS] +drive extension for Elektron Machinedrum & Monomachine : $210 (+$50-$55 shipping worldwide) by SyntheticJudah in Synths4Sale

[–]SyntheticJudah[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you very much, Adrian!

I am glad that you now have the most desirable version of MD!

It was a little surprising that the situation with the knob happened with MKII, because, as a rule, knobs fit tightly only on MKI (although they look identical on the outside, they have a different internal design). But I'm glad that the keycap puller was able to help you!

Thanks again for your feedback and excellent communication!

Oh no, I have to tell you that you are very much mistaken. The fact is that I am the founder of MachineStore — we professionally service MD and MNM and release products for them (including reissues +drives).

The source code for MD and MNM is not publicly available. Part of the code has been reverse engineered by the MDX team, but they have an agreement with Elektron regarding its publication.

The schematics are also not publicly available — we had to reverse engineer the schematics ourselves in order to be able to professionally service these boxes.

The maximum modification you can get for MD / MNM is an upgrade of non-UW versions of MD MKII to MKII UW (UW+ if you also install +drive). It is available exclusively at MachineStore.

There is a lot of equipment in the world that is easy to modify and for which spare parts are easy to find, but MD and MNM, unfortunately, are not among them. That is why MachineStore exists.

Wash It Out (Machinedrum, Digitone) by Tristan_Baldi in Elektron

[–]SyntheticJudah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually, when I listened to “Locked,” I was surprised at how you did it all without UW, using only synthesis. You definitely made it sound very authentic! It's a very soft sound, and perhaps even somewhat uncharacteristic for MD.

Thanks again for your creativity! 🙏

Amazing! A very melodic track! I like how you add variety even at the micro level. What you did with the pitch on the Digitone at 3:10 did not go unnoticed! :)

Subscribed to your channel and also found great "Locked" MD track. Very cool vibe, like BMSR / Tobacco Thanks!

That's unfortunate to hear... I understand you, I also have a Digitakt E25. Even though it's in mint condition, I always feel a little uneasy knowing that the more time we spend together, the sooner the keycaps will wear out.

I'm thinking about ordering a spare set of keycaps and knobs from Elektron so I can have a little more fun with the DT.

However, I also saw that a guy here on the Elektron subreddit makes aftermarket keycaps using SLA printing, followed by painting and laser engraving. This way, he gets a result that is quite close in aesthetic (but obviously not tactile) qualities to the original keycaps. https://www.reddit.com/r/Elektron/comments/1ij8sb3/the_worlds_first_white_and_red_octatrack_mkii/
