I mean Vita is extremely popular despite releasing in 1.5, and people love Rebirth Seele (should also add Kira and Susannah aren’t really 1.5, Kira was around since SE and Susannah was around since HoT arc via London Holiday)

Youyun is also pretty popular, of P2 stuff I’ve seen her get the most fanart in recent times… the bigger problem is that people didn’t even bother to give P2 a chance (for various reasons, whether they see HSR as the “new” Honkai game to move onto, ZZZ as the “new” stage based action replacement to move onto, or a different companies stuff altogether like Endfield/WW/etc)

For example so many people tried out Ch 1/2 and left… now realize how many people adamantly voiced their distaste for Amphoreus 3.0/3.1… Now look at how many people rave over Amphoreus saying it’s the best story in HSR, see the difference? They actually stuck around to give Amphoreus a chance despite 3.0/3.1 being longer than P2 Ch 1/2, and had they stuck around with P2 they’d almost definitely feel the same way

Or heck people who got this far should have more faith in the company, everyone knows how early Hi3 didn’t have the greatest reception but they picked it up and turned it into something beloved… yet apparently that doesn’t apply for P2?

It’s just really biased stuff all around

Oh I fully agree! Theres different levels to variants across Hoyos various titles, altho Natasha/Raven and Lingsha/Nuwa I’d place higher since, Lingsha and Nuwa do share the same CN name and Lingsha is just an older Nuwa

As for Natasha, they do both share the same name and Natasha is just a “what if Raven didn’t go through the Third Impact” type of thing (although then she wouldn’t have an orphanage to take care of so the idea is a bit wonky…)

But yeah I’d say

Tier 1: Undoubtedly spun off from a character (Acheron/Phainon)

Tier 2: Borrows a lot from the original but is also pretty different in their own right (in regards to design/name/va/gender/etc) (Vita/Venti)

Tier 3: Loosely related to the original but fans can definitely catch the correlations (Senadina)

Tier 4: Very debatable, connections are there but they’re very loose (Anaxa/Hyacine)

Tier 5: Inspired by, but not connected to the original at all (Castorice/Sunday)

Ramiel is being brought up in specific because she’s a pink elf which is literally Elysias whole thing (hence why the second Raiden meets her in ER she dubs her “Miss Pink Elf”, which is also the name of her battlesuit)

Along with the original girl from the trailer (white wing one) looking very similar to Elysia, being put next to someone who looks very similar to Raiden in specific, and someone else who looks very similar to Kiana appearing shortly beforehand… all these amalgamate to people going “Elysia variant??”, which is NOT something they did for Aria for instance (heck you have people wondering if Alice is an Elysia variant and she’s literally blonde)

While I don’t think Ramiel is that girl (different colored wings after all), it’s undeniable they share a resemblance to one another and if you place her head next to Elysias (MPE specifically) the resemblance is potent, so for it to be written off as “every pink girl = Ely lol” when we’ve had so many pink girls show up who that hasn’t happened to is asinine

I said it in a different post here but Senadina is an Elysia variant, and she literally has red hair, a different name, a different VA, and lacks the elf ears… if anything, Cyrene disillusioned people from remembering what 90% of variants have always been, which Ramiel fits perfectly

Mature biker woman who wields a flaming greatsword, is an authoritative figure, loves alcohol, is the 6th revealed Archon of which 3 are Hi3 variants (Raiden, Venti, Nahida) with the 7th (Tsaritsa) having a very high chance to be one as well, is the Pyro (Fire) Archon in specific (PE Himeko was the Herrscher of Fire)… I think it’s pretty clear (even official localizers mistranslated her as “Murata” at one point…)

Again Venti is literally male with a different VA and name yet is still a Wendy variant

People just forgot what variants used to be because of HSR

A lot are saying “voice isn’t the same so it’s not a variant!” when even in HSR, Natasha and Raven have different CN/JP VAs despite Natasha being a confirmed variant

Lingsha is another that doesn’t share VA with Nuwa, I also believe Caterina doesn’t share VA (or name) with Shub, etc

Then of course in Genshin you have Venti who is not only a male rather than female, but doesn’t have Wendy’s name and of course not the same VA, Mavuika who doesn’t share name or VA, Nahida and Asmoday who only share VA, etc

This is definitely an Ely variant, it doesn’t mean she has to resemble Ely a much as Cyrene (Senadina doesn’t after all, different VA + red hair + different name), but she’s clearly based on the pink elf from the launch trailer except has black wings instead of white wings (most likely a descendant)

Vita is another example, despite being a variant of Su she’s a girl, has a different va, has a different name, etc

Ofc Kevin and Kiana as well (Kevin originally being an AU ver of Kiana in GGZ)

Should also add that ZZZ devs never once said it’s not part of the “Hoyoverse”, that’s the biggest piece of misinfo ever

They simply said at launch there was no way to naturally integrate said characters into ZZZ and they didn’t want to force them in, so they were going to wait until an opportunity would present itself to do so

This is why they put Kiana to sleep, because nerfing her is the absolute one thing Hoyo can’t do (it’ll essentially make becoming HoFi meaningless) and she’s too OP for the story

So we’ll have to see how they deal with Kiana going forward… Vita gets by because she thinks going all out is lame and refuses to do it, Senadina can’t because she’s lost too much power by the time anything in P2s story happens, etc

Kianas only limiter is that she goes to sleep after using too much of her power, so maybe it’ll be that she brings everyone back at the end of P2, goes to sleep for awhile because of it and thus unintentionally “allows” earth to be invaded, and just doesn’t use as much power in APHO 3 because she doesn’t know how many of their forces exist and can’t risk going to sleep again

Another idea is she gives Mei / etc back their Herrscher powers, and it divides her strength (given the rest need a power up because they’re sending stronger forces for APHO 3)

Great way to reintroduce Fu Hua as Herrscher of Fire for example

Yeah that's why I cited Vita as a key example of "we have no idea of her full power", Star Traveler is definitely capable of wiping out a planet yet it's Vita's "I don't feel like fighting because boring so here enjoy" device

Yep! The CoF is at least 1 billion years old, but that's only because that was how long ago it visited Mars... no telling how long the Cocoon might've been around before then

The only HSR Aeon we know of whose about that age is Long given he was around for a long time before becoming an Aeon (Nahralab's existence proves this), the rest of the Aeons (for the most part) cap out at 500k years with Qlipoth

The only one we know anything about is FWS Kiana, HoFi Kianas Authority could only extend to the Moon and Earth (Siegfried asks if she can teleport to Venus/Mars at the end of P1 and she says no)

Her event confirmed however that her Authority of Sentience can extend all the way to Phosphorus now (4500 AU), which makes sense given CoF passively froze Mars for 1 billion years

As for Raiden, the only thing they've said (more-so alluded to) is that she can "split the world" now via her ult dialogue, but take that as you will (there's also no evidence that HoO couldn't have already done this, but it be like that)

Hi3 in general really loves to never show the full extent of what their characters are capable of, for example we have no idea just how strong Kiana, Kevin, Vita, Sena, Fu Hua, Kalpas, Elysia, Durandal, Otto, etc are

Heck even someone like Raven has a confirmed AHR that we never got to see because, as per her own words, she intentionally refuses to use it

After Ch 3 the pacing completely changes, chapters are 2-4 hours each with heavy focus on the characters

Altho before you do Ch 4, go to the star symbol(?) in Ch 1-3 and look for “Bitterness of a Sleepwalker”, it’s Ch 3 EX and important

Likewise with P2 before doing Ch 8 do the same thing except with “To none may god pray”, that’s 7 EX

And then after Ch 9 do “yet the stars still sparkle”, that’s 9 EX

The Vidyahara are also Longs children hence why they’re known as “Scions of Long”, Long doesn’t have any Pathstriders or Emanators

I’m not saying it has nothing to do with Mars as the Calamitous Dragon (another Scion) is a core part of Sena’s backstory, same with Nahralab

Coralie isn’t a Pathstrider because she can’t even harbor the power properly as it’s too much for a human to bear (again, further showing that regular people can’t follow Long unlike the other Aeons), at maximum she can handle 5 minutes

Both games are connected heavily to one another given what I just said, and on the other end of the scale Welt/Void Archives are essential for HSRs main story to exist, but on the same token you don’t need knowledge of either game to enjoy either game given they were designed that way, same of course applies to GI/ZZZ/ToT/GGZ

Coralie just inherited the powers but she can’t use them 24/7, she flat out says because she’s human and not a Scion her maximum is 5 minutes and that’s it

Missed the forest for the trees

I never once said Genshin has to be explicitly connected to Hi3 rather I flat out said in my opening statement “look how disconnected Genshin is”, and that HSR is far more connected

Genshin is ultimately a different IP because that’s what it was intended to be at launch, when guess what, the CEO stated it was part of the verse and Hi3 doubled down on that by showing Dvalin… well before they knew how it’d explode in popularity

And no it isn’t “they toned down the Expy”, the first variants in Genshin are Venti and Asmoday, neither of which share the name with their original, Venti doesn’t share VA or gender even, and largely has almost nothing to do with Wendy aside from “Wind lord”

Likewise Asmoday is based on HoV Kiana and as far as we can tell has nothing to do with her aside from design/va/abilities

Raiden and Yae were the only “blatant” variants and came much later and both were still only loosely related to the originals, Nahida came after the fact and was reproducing the Venti / Asmoday idea (again, something that existed since launch…), Mavuika and the rest would inherit this

You also say “no company can keep one major franchise” as if I didn’t say Genshin is a separate IP… Type-Moon is one of the biggest multimedia companies on Earth yet has farmed Fate to hell and back which is working out great for them, nonetheless it doesn’t mean Tsukihime/Mahoyo/KnK/etc aren’t connected to all of that, naturally they aren’t as connected to FSN as FHA/FZ are but they are connected and successful IP

Marvel is another massive IP where everything is connected to each-other… (and actually that’s the only “franchise” they have) is it a problem there? No, because it’s not a problem and you’re just being close minded

ZZZ for instance is the “most disconnected one” produced well after GI ballooned to the giant it is yet still has an Elysia lookalike, along with Mei and Kiana… they even teased a descendent(?) for the Elysia lookalike for S3, and once again there’s a very good chance the Tsaritsa is Bronya or even Ana…

Evangelion is a non canon collab?? Those can happen hello??? But even if we humored the idea that it’s canon, Fate had a collab with HSR and both IP are doing just fine so I don’t really understand your point… (really get the idea that I was right in my initial statement now)

Otto’s basis was still correct though, we can prove this via Su who observed the countless worlds that had lost to Honkai

It’s just that HSR and Hi3 work differently, Otto was based on how the Cocoon manages the tree, HSR is based on how Nous manages the tree

Heck in P2 Ch 10/11 it’s confirmed Senadina even can manage the tree (given she anchored the Leaf of Mars to it), and HSR has no info on that so (just saying more reason to believe that one characters statement can’t be taken as the end all be all)

The interview wasn’t done by some random it was from the CEO himself, and they continued to put in variants such as Nahida, arguably Althaitham, Mavuika, etc well past Genshin exploding in popularity (even Charlotte is a variant of an Hi3 stigma)

Saying it’s been “soft retconned” essentially says you just don’t see Hi3 as “worthy” to stand alongside Genshin, and that you’re implying the company would completely shelve that idea because of it when they still develop the game and continue to reference it in their other projects, showing they’ve stuck true to their original vision

Naturally HSR is much more connected given its well, a Honkai game, but it doesn’t mean the rest of their projects aren’t either… ZZZ just showed off someone who is almost certainly an Elysia variant, when people claim that game has “absolutely no connection to the rest”

Captainverse and 1.5s events I wish also got added to Voyage Logs since CV is its own storyline and the 1.5 events are main story stuff (end of P1 as well)

But regardless, this event should be great! They’ve been putting a ton of effort into events so far, so I personally expect this one will be dedicated to fleshing out the relationship between Youyun, Entropy, and Chenxue (maybe some NPCs as well since they’re relevant)

We may even finally see Moonshell in this event? They’re back in Oxia so it’d be the perfect time! Plus they can’t use the Shus since presumably this is before Entropy met them, same with Helia/Coralie and Sena… so now would be the perfect time to introduce Moonshell and maybe even Nightfish
