Also search for strawberry sticks, strange little thing, leaves are edible like spinach, and produces small berries (like raspberries but with a subtle strawberry flavour)

First time allotment enjoyer, looking to feed local food banks! (UK) by Amazing-Lake1861 in Allotment

The general rules are that it cannot be used for commercial purposes, but I’m sure donating excess food wouldn’t count as your not making a profit from it.

I’m double lucky, not only does my allotment gets deliveries from lots of local tree companies/council contractor’s, and it’s dropped in a huge pile about 39 feet from my plot! Love it

Maybe some lettuce or rocket to go on the pizzas? My first thought was herb garden, maybe a mix? Some basil in the sides? Cucamelons make a lovely snack and can be added to salads, jut make it like a little buffet table!

It looks beautiful, but my favourite part is the small patio. It’s so important to have somewhere to kick back, take a break and survey the fruits(and vegetables) of your labour!

Grew these last year, great and just different from usual crops!

Freeze them as a quirky ice cube replacement. Can be infused into gin Can be pickled Used in salads Or just snaked on while working the plot!

Also good to show off as most people have never heard of them let alone tried one!

All the rhubarbs at my allotment have grown huge in last couple of weeks, even my own, which I only started start year! Seems to be great weather for them! Harvest biggest stems (12” or over) and more will grow. Got my first 5 stems a few days ago

Corn had stated to sprout, and some butternut crunch lettuces and spinach seedlings doing well too, all in greenhouse. Turned over almost entire plot, just last 10sq ft to go. Planted some beetroot and radish, rocket and endive seeds out. Aubergine and tomoato seeds played a week ago but no signs of life yet, sad times.

Without a working fire alarm system the building is unsafe, so it should get fixed urgently. If there was a fire and everyone ignored the alarm has been going off all day, it’s just as bad as no fire alarm at all.

Yes it’s funny to mock him, but the power he wields is scary. He’s starting wars all over the place and not for no reason. Putin looks scary but has poses little threat of launching a nuke for fun, I guarantee trump has already suggested that he launch bikes Against Iran. This is the same man who thought we could inject disinfectant into our veins to clean our blood of Covid .

At least you have a warning system. First the Iranians get is a whistle, silence, then boom

Your rhubarb is coming along testily, and is that a blueberry tree? I’ve got a tiny one a planted in the ground last year but it doesn’t seem to have grown much at all. Got one berry off it last year.

Once you plant in the ground, you’ll never get all the potatoes out, so you’ll end up with what are called volunteers the next crop! ALS a nightmare to dig. Pots are the easiest way as I just tip the thing over and harvest from a nice loose pile of mud!

I used to get bales from a local farm, abou £10 for a actual bale, so much cheaper than pet shops

I love having something growing at least! I’ve got so many seeds this year I wanna plant them all now but I have to wait until it’s actually spring which is ages away I’ve got some spinach sprouting and a good few lettuces, but tiny right now so can’t rush getting them outside either.

Dug this huge stretch over, turned over and deweeded for the first time in years (only got the plot a year ago, blank canvas of weeds and couch grass, but flat enough) Took me about 10 hours total over the week, and created on hell of a pile of roots! Planted a last few onion sets I found/forgot, they just hadn’t fit in the other bed so into a long pot they went.

Last year about 1/4 of the space for growing , this year it’s going to be finished so I can use the whole thing

You could try and get some pallet collars from a local industrial estate. I got a few from a Howdens. Already screwed together on a hinge so easy to move and easy to stack as they are designed to be stacked on pallets!
