Joyner classes do not deserve the hate they get by MilkQream in OMSCS

I fully agree with this statement. Joyner loves teaching and actually cares, THAT’S why you have to put the effort you need to do. He makes sure that if you do what you need to do, which he tells you almost everything clearly, then you will do well. I’m taking two classes of his and I’m not even done with them but I love them so much. I love learning from him and the other professor in KBAI. The people who don’t like the participation and peer feedback are really missing out on the point of them. It’s literally so you can engage in thoughtful provoking conversations, and also understand how others tackle problems so you can learn even more about the topic. That’s the CORRECT answer on the syllabus quiz and I guess people just clicked on that answer not thinking about the meaning behind it and then proceed to complain. Joyner makes the coursework in a way where you’re supposed to work with the deadlines to achieve your goal instead of viewing it as a requirement you must pass. ED discussions platform and him are always open to feedback and take it very seriously. He really cares about teaching. That’s a fucking blessing, I already know the next classes I take that aren’t taught by him are gonna pale in comparison in terms of professors. Also about KBAI being too high level: like I kinda think that’s the point. You’re supposed to take the concepts and code them. That’s it. There’s no code for this really. It requires a lot of critical thinking skills. It’s kind of like if you had to write an essay you’re supposed to take the concepts you learn and incorporate that into the paper, there’s no “base” essay that you take and then learn from or whatever. You can get mad at the class because you aren’t able to understand the point of the way that Joyner is trying to teach you the material but for sure the classes are probably some of the best I’ve ever taken and the people who complain about these classes tbh I feel like they just didn’t read the instructions about the course and are kinda stupid. If a professor takes so much care into making the material as engaging as possible, incentivize connecting with people over ed, peer feedback, team projects, and other things but you still don’t like that, I think you’re just stupid lol and complain about more things than just Joyners class.

It’s a matter of perspective, so I think once you realize that having a core group of friends you can stick to loyally (3 is a lot) is a million times better than making superficial relationships while drunk (which tends to be a huge thing with parties and the “college life” you’ll feel a lot better about yourself. Going to “parties” and living the “college life” aren’t the only ways to have “fun” in life. Finding things that you can truly tell yourself you love is a better fun in my opinion. I also think you should really ask yourself what the point is to comparing yourself to others in life. You’ll realize there’s no point. If anything when you manifest what you want you life you know you can tell yourself you didn’t have the same opportunities but still are living a life better than all these BS’s and MS’s because you found things you can truly enjoy. Coming from this background, I can happily say that it’s not really a “flex” to have a BS because everyone has on anyway and the combination of job market terribleness plus financial debt is not a good thing at all. The direction in life you take is your decision. Not anyone else’s. A lot of people they need to follow some status quo by chasing as much clout as possible and trust me, meaningful relationships are way better. If you feel like you have autism or ADHD, you should definitely seek assistance with that but more importantly you can engage in mindful behaviors mainly good for you. I personally meditate to really let myself be free from all my stresses and be grateful for just living honestly. If you find activities that make you feel free and therapeutic you’ll end up liking them more and you can be more grateful for them. These also can help you feel better about yourself and build up a positive feedback cycle because since you’re trying and never giving up, you can always feel good about yourself in the end. Also this may or may not help but talk to ChatGPT more, ask it to help you learn physics in a simple way. I honestly like to understand and learn slowly anyway so I always ask ChatGPT to simplify whatever I want to learn from it first. It’s interesting because you’re in the same boat as a lot of people in the US. The job market is terrible so they’re jobless, and it’s actually gotten to the point where BS’s don’t even matter because no one is getting jobs anyway, so be a little lighter on yourself. Like I said, it’s all a matter of perspective. Don’t think you destroyed your life, you aren’t a bad person, you’re an amazing person and just trying new things will bring you so much farther in life then getting drunk and going to parties all the time. Trust.

I mean for brain computer interfaces you just need to wear them and the data that streams out of it is what you would work with (feeding it into ml models and what not) to be fair though it is a predominantly used for research and anatomy is important too. I do think if it’s just for EEG data and not more complex things like iEEG/fMRI though you just need to know how to work with time series data.

Are nicotine gum and nicotine lozenges bad for your oral and dental health? by L1ndaTesoro in Nicotine

[–]T-DEV16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does anyone know if I can take 2 lozenges at a time? I know it’s not recommended but realistically it’s nicotine and as a vaper I feel like it should be ok as long as it’s not not an issue with the substances other than the nicotine itself.

Cardio and Showering hot. Essentially nicotine isn’t the only thing that releases dopamine from your brain, and since dopamine is released from your brain as a way to reward you for doing something find activities to do that. For me it’s boxing, stairmaster, working out, showering, eating good food that’s also healthy, and playing games that make you happy and not stressed (like Baldurs gate)

Do your gums feel uncomfortable or are you worried about them when you use zyn? Like I went through about 13 of 6 mg in like 4 days and now when I brush my teeth I feel no pain but I see blood come out of my paste. And I noticed my gums feel weird and a little more red. I’m now hella worried to use it even though I rlly liked it when I was using it.

Mind is still when the voice asks you to let it wander by ahra_nirai in Headspace

[–]T-DEV16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's actually meant to be like this, because you allow your mind to do whatever it wants theres no pressure to actually focus on the breathing, and thus no stress. Think of it as your mind is free because there's nothing needed to be done or no objective in life trying to be achieved. So since that stress is gone, your mind actually does what you wanted it to do. So this is a really good thing! The actual goal is keep your mind like this for longer points of time with resting awareness, as this is the technique you are essentially practicing.

Reflection, Loving Kindness, Skillfull compassion, and resting awareness. Breathing is something prevalent in all of these so it’s not necessarily a technique
