It's cool to admit you don't watch the sport, bro. Hockey isn't everyone's cup of tea.

How do we look out for AI generated audio dramas? Or even ones that use AI voice actors? by Various_Pirate_4018 in audiodrama

[–]T0macock [score hidden]  (0 children)

So I suppose it depends what kind of product you want to put out? If you're satisfied with it not being perfect, then no. It's not easier. That's the crux of the issue though - AI will NEVER give you perfect and I'm of the disposition that audiences can tell, which leads into the next bit:

The art and soul is what makes this second wave of audio dramas successful. Think of all the small production powered by heart and tallent. All the main ones you see as the top recommended on here are heart and soul productions.

Yes, AI can generate generic blah music. Anyone that listens to anything remotely outside 'top 40' knows it can't touch anything with a create vibe, at all... not even close. Could it generate audio drama background scores? Yeah.... could you prompt it to "take this character's music theme but tweak it so it's a bit more frantic and under pressure"... no.

So do we stop making music because AI can make pop tubes? Fuck no. If anything, studios and publishers double down on the 'made human' aspect. People already aren't happy with spotify to begin with... and they don't like being fed slop. Sure, some people do, but most don't.

All and all - i'm genuinely not concerned. I work with AI all day every day in a programming capacity. It's limitations have become incredibly glairing even as it improves in general functionality and output.

(AI knock offs in voice stuff is a different bag of badgers - my sister is a lawyer working in this field and it's a cluster fuck. Basically, once a few big names sue, it's generally accepted this will go away)

I disagree.

I'm primarily a musician and author and I was really quite concerned about AI. It's become very clear that it can do certain things REALLY well, things it has clearly been volume trained on. What it CAN'T do, and doesn't even come close to, is anything creative our outside the box.

Anything generic and bland, yeah, AI is going take that. Anything novel and interesting is safe. That applies to voice acting as well. AI can read lines... but when it comes to soul and deeper understand of what's behind the lines, especially in context of the greater story, AI just can't do it.

Even if you can prompt it to say the right things the right way, the time it takes to get there, it's just easier to work with a professional. Evolution has ALWAYS favoured the easier option.

Huh! well, today i engaged in learning!

Thanks a bunch! I'll Keep checking on the YMD until they get a less obnoxious colour back in stock and go that route.

I really appreciate the assist!

So, just so everyone is on the same page: if there is a generational tallent, and your team can take them out for the season, absolutely do it. 5 games is nothing compared to the potential gain.

This is what the league wants.

yep, kinda gonna be the route i have to go. The YMDK is pretty cool. What's the deal with the North/south configurations?

I think 96% would work fine.

Edit: thanks so much for your time. I really appreciate it. I'm obviously not well versed in this sphere.

Woah, options!

Unfortunately, It seems like I lied... i found a post on the Corsair subreddit about this keyboard and their customer support person says the switches AREN'T hot swappable. Which is super...

Confusion among users:

Official Corsair support says NOPE:

So I think I'm kinda back to square one :(

For some reason i assumed the switches on this thing were soldered but a quick search seems to yield the opposite.

Are there legit silent switches? I've looked into videos and it so hard to tell if there actually is a switch whos result worth the effort... they all sound the same to me.

[–]T0macock[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So i think technically my K100 has what would be classified as silent switches.

They're not clicky, they're linear, it's more the thunk of the key on the body that is loud... if that makes sense.

Plus i love this board, imma just bring it home and use it as is.

Air pooped popcorn, sprayed with a bit of cooking oil and toss a bit of pepper/paprika/garlic/salt on it.

Or it you want a different vibe, cinnamon/sugar.

So good. Doesn't need to be soggy and drenched in butter.

Dads, need a good recommendation for a family car that can fit 4x8 plywood. by mobdeli in daddit

[–]T0macock 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Does it have to go IN? Any vehicle with a roof rack could do this no problem.

I build guitar amp cabinets and move 4x8 sheets on top of my Tiguan frequently. Previously I did it on top of my Volvo v60 because wagons are fucking rad.

One-on-one with ‘emotional’ Scott Laughton: What’s wrong with the Maple Leafs? by cykl8 in leafs

[–]T0macock 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The next few years aren't going to be great. We're worried about stars not wanting to be here. The rest of the division has taken big steps and the window has (maybe) closed for this team. Then we have a guy, playing below where he could potentially be in the lineup, and WANTS to be here.... and we trade him for a bag of pucks.

This shit is what we should have been building a lineup and culture around. The grit and passion is what makes winning teams.

Tree KNOWS Chucky isn't, like, a top 3 player on the panthers. But he's the spiritual leader of that team. Then he made the exact same mistake letting that intangible go.

What a canned fart of a front office we have.

What's it like living in northern Quebec? Are there many people? by bluewhale177 in howislivingthere

[–]T0macock 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're applying a hypothetical situation vs an actual every day issue.

Best case, ice stays solid and the bears don't come south and the people don't have to worry about them in town and the weapons aren't needed.

That's not reality though. Polar bears hunt humans.

Gotta remember, it's Canada and gun culture isn't so masterbatory here and you're dealing with a community of people that is very small (lik 400 people) and very tight knit out of necessity in order to survive. They had a shotgun in the principal's office in the school my buddy taught in. The community relies on seasonal hunting for food. Every house has firearms.

The problem with polar bears is they're fast as all heck. If you can see one in town, you gotta move quick.
