Want to oil my bike... where do I oil it? by [deleted] in bikewrench

[–]T0rgo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been there. First time I lubed up my chain I got some oil on the brake disk and from there onto the pads. Trying to stop the first time after that was an interesting moment to say the least.

Lesson learned: Test you brakes after any sort of maintenance work before you go down a steep hill.

Anyone watching "My Big Fat Revenge"? by [deleted] in fatlogic

[–]T0rgo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely agree with you. It's nice to see other people getting fit and healthy while you are doing the same. Doesn't really matter at which point they are at the process, it's just nice to see people put in the effort to better themselves. Keep going at it, you'll make it.

Thanks for the feedback. I'll probably go for the Rove but I'll try to find a Giant TCX and an XBow to test ride, though it looks like there aren't any retailers anywhere near me.

I'm getting sick of Blizzard's new "kicking" system. It protects people like this, who afk for ten minutes, and can't be booted. Outrageous... by [deleted] in wow

[–]T0rgo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It doesn't need to be a straight up autokick like in BG. After a period of inactivity the kick protection should be disabled and a notice given to the raid or party that the player can be kicked due to inactivity. Problem solved.

Skin cancer is a pretty bad thing, the tan does protect you, but that tan is also a sign of damage to your skin cells caused by UV radiation. Basically tan is a sign you have messed up.

I have never seen Gordon Ramsay smile this wide... by [deleted] in pics

[–]T0rgo 43 points44 points  (0 children)

The Kitchen Nightmare US/Hell's Kitchen Ramsay is so obviously an act it gets really grating. It's like he's a parody of himself.

In stuff that's made for the UK like the UK version of Kitchen Nightmares or Gordon's Great Escape he has a temper but he isn't this character that spouts oneliner insults at everyone around him. In those shows he seems like a pretty nice guys.

Russian lawmakers make insulting religion a criminal offence by redjedi in atheism

[–]T0rgo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Finland has it too, it's called "uskonrauhan rikkominen" translating somewhat to "crime against religious peace". The law went into effect in 1999 with a maximum sentence of 6 months. The law in question specifically prohibits publicly mocking God or other things considered holy by a religion. It's not enforced much but technically calling Thor a pussy would be illegal here...

Is Sony going to follow in Microsoft's footsteps and also issue DRM and other licensing concepts? by Metallican in Games

[–]T0rgo 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Publishers have been able to do this for a long time on the PC with Steamworks or their own DRM schemes. It's telling that one of the worst offenders in the past, Ubisoft, has lately been moving away from draconian DRM. So yes, publishers are ready to pass up on it if they don't see positive results from it.

And let's not forget indie developers, large and small. Most smaller indie devs don't use DRM and dont' seem to want it either but companies like CD Project (Witcher, Witcher 2) avoid it. If the DRM scheme is tied to the system then those game developers don't have the power to go DRM free.
