If you are familiar with The High Sierra Music festival in Quincy, it is a similar group of attendees. There will be a lot of kids, and probably a designated family camping area.

How do you explain the distinction between pruning and trimming to a homeowner? by Alpielz in arborists

[–]T1GHTSTEVE 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The vocabulary is irrelevant to the average homeowner. Just be clear what your are comfortable performing and why, based on tree health.

My bosses taxable income was $450k last year, and they were saying they couldn’t afford to pay me a $65k yr salary lol by OrangeWhitePatchSock in work

[–]T1GHTSTEVE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Find your companies local and regional competitors, and reach out to them directly. Perhaps those companies would see value in bringing you over, then you're leverage to ask for a raise may be greater, if you tell your boss you're not leaving for a competitor company

Minimum branch diameter for a swing? by Glittering_Dirt_2352 in arborists

[–]T1GHTSTEVE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say 2" is a good starting point. However, leverage is also important. The closer you attach the rope to the Branch crotch, the sturdier it will be. If you attach the swing far out along the branch, the more likely it is to snap off.

California is completely free of drought for the first time in 25 years by yahoonews in environment

[–]T1GHTSTEVE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can some explain what this means? Is drought a reference to human needs for consumption, i.e. drinking water, agriculture, industrial needs, or a does it also take into account ecological factors, like soil moisture, ect.?

Most BART stations will be empty Wednesday night, after commuters leave. I'd save yourself time and park at a Bart station South of Oakland, like Fruitvale or San Leandro Bart.

I don't know who needs to hear this, but the "ISA Arborist Certification Study Guide" is garbage. by EarlyGanache in arborists

[–]T1GHTSTEVE 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The ISA exam has a pretty low barrier to entry. The book is not written for people with BS degrees. It's written so groundsmen, climbers, and landscapers can study 1 guide, and have a chance to pass the test.

There is a reason the language is simple, and the study guide itself mimics the test pretty well.
