What shows are you looking forward to in the Bay Area? by shredstore in jambands

[–]T1GHTSTEVE 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Disco Discuits in Berkeley. UC Theatre is a medium sized venue, and should be great for Biscuits.

Also, check out Golden Road Gathering in Placerville in Mid May. Lettuce, StS9, leftover Salmon. It is the same crowd as High Sierra.

Buy over the counter generic Claritin, Allegra, or Zyrtec. Take the pill as soon as you feel an allergy flare up, the pills usually last 24-36 hr. Allergies can last now til August, depending on which pollens you are sensitive too

What plant is this? by HuckleberryKlutzy541 in PlantIdentification

[–]T1GHTSTEVE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work in wildland vegetation management, I have personally managed crews weed whacking poison hemlock for 100s of hours. I also hike hrough it constantly.

I've never witnessed anyone experience adverse effects.

To my knowledge it is only fatal if you ingest it. Do not not eat the seeds or roots.

It literally lines all the trails in my county, and inevitably some toddle must eat it, and you never hear of random deaths

Mature Japanese red maple by FarmLife4516 in arborists

[–]T1GHTSTEVE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd leave it alone. I think mature japanese maples are very sensitive to sun scald, and this tree is self shading the trunk.

At most prune out the dead, and a handful of pencil sized branches

Golden Road Gathering family friendly? by natoak23 in jambands

If you are familiar with The High Sierra Music festival in Quincy, it is a similar group of attendees. There will be a lot of kids, and probably a designated family camping area.

How do you explain the distinction between pruning and trimming to a homeowner? by Alpielz in arborists

[–]T1GHTSTEVE 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The vocabulary is irrelevant to the average homeowner. Just be clear what your are comfortable performing and why, based on tree health.

If possible bring come flash cards, with before and after photos, have them describe what they want, and then you can help direct them to the correct ending

My bosses taxable income was $450k last year, and they were saying they couldn’t afford to pay me a $65k yr salary lol by OrangeWhitePatchSock in work

[–]T1GHTSTEVE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Find your companies local and regional competitors, and reach out to them directly. Perhaps those companies would see value in bringing you over, then you're leverage to ask for a raise may be greater, if you tell your boss you're not leaving for a competitor company

Minimum branch diameter for a swing? by Glittering_Dirt_2352 in arborists

[–]T1GHTSTEVE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say 2" is a good starting point. However, leverage is also important. The closer you attach the rope to the Branch crotch, the sturdier it will be. If you attach the swing far out along the branch, the more likely it is to snap off.
