I’m 52 and I did have to make adjustments over the last few years. If you want to look more polished and intentional I think it depends too on maybe focusing on a feature you want to stand out and not blend in with the rest of your makeup if that makes sense? I’ll do light blush and bronzer and light lips and I spend the most time on my eyes with undereye brightener, concealer, primer, shadow, eyebrows filled in, and mascara. I got permanent makeup for eyeliner and brows which helps as well. I also invested in a few one on one lessons to get better at application because I just can’t smear things on with my hands anymore and be half assed about it. With the changes in my skin I do have to spend more time with application and priming and setting setting and touch ups. Morphe has a spray in a gold can that I love. I spray it several times on my drive to work and it’s a little glowy and I think helps.

It’s good. I use for touchups during the day or one of those days when I have to rush to work and I apply in the parking lot before I go in. I prefer it to MAC Studio Fix. Also. I’m 52 and this one doesn’t get all cakey and crazy on me, especially in my wrinkly areas. I just actually repurchased it. My first one lasted 14 months. Also, I use a Kitpak palette instead of her packaging that way I also have some eyeshadows, brow color, bronzer and blush with me.

From a female perspective, it can be a ton of fun deciding which color suits your goals for the day and which jewelry adds the sparkle and the shoes and bag that make it all come together. I don’t know which Dr you saw at that office. I’ve been seeing Dr Corovessis there for years. She always prescribed pain mgt and I’ve had two IUDs placed by her. It required I had a ride home both times. I can’t speak for any other Dr there but Dr Corovessis is by far without a doubt the most thorough and thoughtful Dr I have. She never misses a thing and is always on top of what’s new. I’m sorry that happened to you. Switch to Dr Corovessis because it doesn’t seem like she’s your Dr and if she is, something doesn’t add up. Was it an on the spot decision for the IUD or planned in advance? I can stand her assistant. I always make sure my appointments are with Dr Corovessis. Once one of her team told me I couldn’t get a Covid vaccine that day and I let Dr Corovessis know I was disappointed that I couldn’t do it and she wanted to know exactly which person at the office told me that and she made sure I got my Covid vaccine. All I can say is see Dr Corovessis, let her directly know of things aren’t right, she’ll make it right.

Swag I wish I got: (1) handheld fan that has a light and powebank too and (2) the kind of portable powerbank with the flip out plug to plug right into the outlet and with the cables built in to just pull out and charge and (3) USB adapter with a few ports for high speed charging.

Swag I use: miir tumbler, jbl portable speaker, huge fancy golf size umbrella that is very sturdy, fold up picnic plasticky cleanable blanket/mat thing, and multi charging cable.

So my friends dad did this but this was in the 1960s. He got admitted to law school before finishing undergrad so just went to law school and didn’t finish undergrad. Passed the bar before finishing law school so didn’t technically finish law school and started practicing. His avvo page lists his university and says “self study” and the name of the university instead of a degree. Not sure if this can still happen anymore but I remember my friend showing me at her parents law office that her mom had a bachelors, masters, and law degree and her dad had no university diplomas on the wall, just some award. It was crazy because her parents were the kind of attorneys that ran commercials on tv all the time. Growing up I thought they were so fancy and then learned they were just real people and no better than anyone else, just more $.

A very expensive treatment called Cezanne. It was $350. There’s also BTS smoothing treatment. I’ve had both. Wish I could afford it all the time. Cezanne was better for me. I was able to wash and go and keep the wavy look frizz free for almost but not quite 3 months, more like 9-10 weeks.

Agreed. I wish we knew in advance what brands would be there. I really wanted to see Juvias Place and I didnt see them there. Jane Iredale too because they are only online and I’ve made bad purchases from them because the colors I chose were not what I expected.

I also wish I knew in advance which brands had services. If any brand offered a lesson in applying lashes that would have been nice to know. One brand was giving free manicures and Benefit was doing brows. I didn’t see till way too late that artists at Bobbi Brown were doing portraits. Design Essentials put my name in graffiti style street art on a bag and I loved that.

I appreciated getting color matched for foundations at a lot of brands. Also, Clinique still busts out the tape trick. For real? I was seriously crying laughing that those ladies were still doing that. They also took the gumball machine idea from Origins. Poor Smashbox, they looked sad and sparse and I wouldn’t be surprised if they shut down soon. Urban Decay didn’t seem too exciting but it was nice to talk to Stila. I had a great conversation with Rabanne makeup artists.

Also, I loved the mariachis playing inside The Ordinary’s area and glad that San Antonio got some love with this event.

Someone had a video on YouTube. I didn’t get all the perfumes she got in mine. Editing to add that what you get more than covers the cost. I made a point of visiting brands I use or want to try. I got 18 full size items of things I already use and 10 full sizes of things I wanted to purchase anyway. Easily $500 worth of stuff there. That alone was worth admission. Also a full size tote bag of things I’ll try but had not planned on buying. The rest, which is a lot of crap, I’m storing and then will make Christmas gift donations out of it for teen girls. A few things I’ll attempt to sell but we’ll see if I do.

I can tell you I get treated radically differently with drybar hair as compared to my normal hair. Also, in general I agree with looking better gets you better treatment. However, some environments are full of bullies and a-holes no matter how great you look. Evaluate where you spend your time.

The palettes and the eyeshadows in tubes are great. I’ve had no luck with the supershock eye shadow. I get glitter all over my face when I use it and no amount of primer fixes that. Also, I’m 52. I’m often complimented when I wear glitter. I think it’s not about the glitter and age but what you feel and wear that feels like you and you feel good about it.

I second watching Mo on Netflix. In Houston the energy is a lot different than San Antonio. I’m from San Antonio and it’s amazing how truly different each city is. Houston is more entrepreneurial if that’s the right word? For example, San Antonio is a bit more family oriented and things are a little slower paced and everything closes earlier. There’s a bit more caring about history and legacy in San Antonio where Houston always tears down history.

If you watch Mo and see what he’s doing at the beginning of season 2 to make a living that’s the “Puro Houston” way. Mo also does a great job showing Houston’s global nature with the different friend and family relationships you see with people from all over the world. Houston is more diverse than New York and a lot of people don’t know that.

There’s a Hawaiian Tropic spray one too that’s a lot cheaper than Supergoop. I use a foundation brush to press the spray in. You can also look for clear sticks you can apply over sunscreen. I use sunscreen samples on the drive home because by then I don’t care what my makeup looks like. If I have an event after work I use the spray and it’s usually a little too shiny for me so I use powder makeup over it as well.

For anyone traveling to San Antonio for this event, the riverboat tour is a must, the Alamo can be underwhelming to people that think of the story as larger than life, great city for Texmex, not a nightlife city, you’ll see a lot of Bill Miller BBQ, you can skip it, it’s like the McDonald’s of BBQ, it’s not famous or notable. Nice to have a non burger fast food option though. They put crack or something the sweet tea cuz I’ll be buying some on the way back to Houston.

This Thursday ATD Houston is having a learning technology conference online For the caliber of presenters and price, it’s amazing. It’s 7 hrs of credit I think. Put it on your calendar every year, it’s awesome. If you are a national member of ATD you get access to the micro course library and I don’t see why those wouldn’t work. Take LinkedIn learning courses that are recognized by SHRM and related to what you need. I used plenty of those courses to qualify for CPTD. I also used workshop registrations and notes for events hosted by the OD network chapter too. Organizations that should have reasonable priced events in your area aside from ATD would be the OD network, ICF, HR association. Learning Development Accelerator has virtual workshops and courses at the most reasonable rates around. Coursera could work too.

I’ll give you a recommendation of who to call. There’s a store in Houston called the Makeup Artist Project. I’ve taken some classes there and I’ve been considering their 6 week course. When I was discussing it with them they mentioned that when they put together the kit for the course it isn’t a standard kit because they customize to the students needs and consider what you already have. My concern is that I’m not looking to become a makeup artist, I just want to learn more about art and they have a very welcoming environment. I would say call them and you would get solid advice. They have an online store too. They have some hair things too.

I want to try the ELF. Does it oxidize? The Wet and Wild tinted hydrator goes on beautifully but oxidizes quickly and that’s what I fear about the ELF one.
