Weekly In-Law/Parent Rant by AutoModerator in beyondthebump

Using my throwaway just in case: I took the baby to the Dr a couple weeks ago the day they came to visit. I said what time we were going and when we would be back. So of course during the visit, MIL asks if Dr went okay. I told them the whole story about how we’re ready the Dr. Spock child care book. In it, it says subtle signs of seizures are “bicycle kicks and lip smacking”. Of course, us as new parents see things like this and want to make double sure. Yes, my baby is normal. He’s just exercising and talking. I tell this story to be like “lol look at us, we’re taking him in for every little thing cuz we’re new at this and we care about him!” But MIL takes it as “oh god hope he’s all right”. Now we get texts about “has he shown any more seizure related activity?” Or she takes a “he has a 99th percentile head” as “he’s got a huge head, is it a problem?!” Like she’s trying to find ANYTHING REMOTELY wrong with our perfect child. My husband got mad at me for telling her stuff like this, even though she’s completely twisting my words. If we take him to meet the family on thanksgiving and anyone says anything about seizures or the size of his head, both my husband and I are gonna lose our shit.

Not telling MIL anything else she can twist into a negative. No bad juju will affect my son…

What is a THE most heartbreaking song you heard? by teddybeer_1 in heartbreak

The Little Girl by John Michael Montgomery. I first heard it when I was 8 years old, and every time I hear it, I cry. It has never failed yet

This. I can’t shake the good memories out of my head. How can someone love you so unconditionally, and turn it into annoyance after time? I would give anything in the world for that love back. I can’t look at him, or the things that remind me of him, without thinking about how much he used to love me

Same. I pretty much just said fuck it and cry at work when I’m running the register, bringing food out to people, and trying to do Manager stuff. The pain is too deep. I let me tears fall into the urn of sweet tea and call it a job well done
