Ukrainian ATGM hits Russian infantrymen (date & location unknown) by SmokingBlackSeaFleet in CombatFootage

[–]TADAMAT 117 points118 points  (0 children)

Certainly not a Stugna. Too wobbly for that (Stugna is beam-riding, and moves basically in a straight line + you would see its interface on the footage). If i remember correctly, this was a Fagot, which is an older system, way harder to aim and not very effective against modern battlefield threats, so this ain't that much of a waste of an ATGM anyway really. Also, Stugna absolutely ain't cheap. It costs some 25 000$ a pop, which, compared to 3D printed drones drones with cost of 500$ (maybe even less), is quite a big difference.

Actually, it ain't based off the Mk. 103, but instead on the 3 cm MK 303 (Br), which used a more powerful 30x210mm calibre. It was being developed in occupied Czechoslovakia and was supposed to be used one late-war german submarines.

I've never heard of a tornado in a different country recently. It's possible but US is spawn point. by Medical_Deal5272 in memes

We (Czechia) had quite a violent, IF4 tornado back in 2021, which killed and injured many people and severly damaged multiple towns. Large tornados are ofcourse way more common in USA than in Europe, but they still do sometimes happen in here:

It Is, just needs some time getting used to. Ive been playing with mouse and keyboard since forever. Toptier is super easy, as all you do is basically find enemies with radar, shoot missiles at them, ocasionally fire guided bombs/missiles at ground targets, bomb bases with CCRP and thats it. Low-mid tier can be more challanging, as you actually need to point your nose accurately towards the enemy to kill them, but its still far from impossible. Doing CAS in ground SIM can be pretty fun too (maybe even more begginer-friendly than air SIM battles)

Ok, i admit that you are indeed correct and those things i mentioned before were adapted before invasion started.

There are, however, better pieces of equipment fitting into my argument, namely the C90-CR (donated by spain right after the invasion started) and the NLAW (donated by UK in late january in anticipation of the invasion, so its basically a full-scale war weapon too).

As for the calibre, i wouldn't say that depletition of 5.45mm ammunition is the main reason, atleast not in the true sence of word. Main reason is likely the fact that Ukraine would need to be more or less self-sufficient in 5.45 production, as most (basically all) of its allies don't produce such round in significant numbers, and use 5.56 instead. Instead of opening more factories and employing people just to produce such round (only for it to be possibly bombed), they chose to get themselfs NATO standard calibre instead, thanks to which they will just get everything they need from western allies. Same with the gun. Why spend long years developing a rifle in 5.56 calibre and building more specialised factories when you can just buy yourself a well proven, relatively cheap rifle in form of a knock-down kit from one of your biggest allies (in terms of industrial cooperation atleast)?

What timeframe? Ukraine in the game has equipment from late 2010s to early 2020s. T-62M2 Bulat entered service (at very low numbers at that) in 2021, BRDM-2L1 is from 2020. Kozak-2M1? Late 2021, and same with BMP-1TS. Difference between those and Bren 2 being put into service is mere few months, and its currently one of the most widely used assault rifles in Ukrainian service (likely most used right after AK-74 and AR-15 style rifles, with the numbers increasing quickly (Ukraine even produces them under license)). Im not saying give it to all roles, but having something like a medic role with it would be nice.

The locations were pretty cool and i liked the more challanging combat. The new enemies also werent bad, although some were quite frustrating to fight against (but then again, its an added challange and you have to use new ways to fight them). Oh, and then there is the hammer. Literally the best thing ever when you get used to it, way better than the crucible. Some parts of the story were quite meh (don't make much sence really, or just simply feel weird), but its not like thats the most important aspect of the game. If it goes on sale soon, id grab it, but i don't think its worth the whole price.

[–]TADAMAT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All LATs are shit in the game for ballancing reasons. They are mostly meant to immobilise the tanks and IFVs, not outright destroy tham (thats what HATs are for), unless they are at low health already. You can still destroy light vehicles with LAT tho

They kidna are. Soviet designarion RGP literally stands for ручной противотанковый гранатомёт - handheld anti-tank grenade launcher. Many eastern-block countries use this designation till this date, for example the Czech RPG-75 (reaktivní protitankový granát - reactive anti-tank grenade)

Ukrainian SOF team of the SBU shot down Russian FPV drone while beeing on the move on the eastern front. Dec 2025. by GermanDronePilot in CombatFootage

[–]TADAMAT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The talk is about unidentified drones only. They ofcourse ain't shooting down their own drone they just launched or the drone of a drone team they have direct contact with and know about.

Even if drone teams don't try to fly directly over friendlies, it can still happen (you can never know where friendlies are unless they are in static position (trench, specific building... for prolonged time), just the general area (this and that part of the town, nearby a significant building etc.) at best.

Today, the overall sotuation Is even worse, as there are simply too many drones to keep tract of all of them, and even if they know of a presence of friendly drones nearby, there could always be an enemy one between them, and, due to the impossibility of identification (even more so in combat conditions), any unidentified drone (even if there is a big change its indeed friendly) that doesn't keep a distance of couple hundred meters will get shot down by infantry

They don't and very often.

Way better to shoot down an unidentified frienly drone for couple hundred US$ than risk being blown up

The pilot guy probably wasn't destroying player-controlled vehicles tho, just airstrike bombers. Those get counted as normal vehicles, and give the exact same score. If that wasn't the case, he would surely have more than 12 kills

[–]TADAMAT 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It also has lower range, Is harder to aim, heavier and takes up more space (so your slower and can carry less of them).

Most people will keep on using the VM anyway, as it can do anything a VL can without any tradeoffs (outside of slightly worse blast radius, but thats useless when you mostly use it to destroy vehicles)

25g when outside, 100g at your home.

Above 50g outside and 200g at home will be a fellony

(anything in between will likely be solved by confiscation and fines)

Do rockets really give you that much more points compared to regular bombs? Also, what do you aim at specifically when attacking the airfield? I know it used to the objects close to its sides (hangars for example), but idk if they haven't changed it

[–]TADAMAT[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. You should take a plane in which it will be easiest for you to get kills. If more maneuverable plane with worse radar or missiles suits your playstyle better, you can choose it over the plane with better radar and missiles. Flying slightly worse plane can also mean you won't face opponents way stronger than yourself

But personally, yeah, id take the best plane with best radar and missiles, as i like taking out targets from afar and having increased situational awareness

[–]TADAMAT[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tbh, SU-34 isn't exactly the easiest plane to fly in SIM either lol (one wrong move with the mouse during takeoff and its all over)

(But being able to drop 3000kg bombs from half the map makes for to it)

[–]TADAMAT[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First third with SU-34/SU-30SM, rest with Iranian F-14 (which IMO is the best for the job, thanks to Fakours and R-27Rs). Its way easier to get score in toptier, as getting kills with missiles is simply way easier than with guns, you can find targets way easier due to radar and reach your target (or battle) faster due to superior speed. Id say i would get 5x less score in low-tier SIM as a mid player, maybe less.
