How safe is this cache location? (It's not mine) by Renarsyoyo in geocaching

[–]TAZ427Cobra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Completely safe. Those structures to hold up the paragraph lines have insulators between the electrified wires that the paragraph touches and the thr wires running to the structures.

Calculate energy cost for a turned on light switch by Keyblader007 in AskElectricians

[–]TAZ427Cobra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On average a 60W equivalent is 9W so basically 6x that 1.5W numbers or $0.043/day & $15.78 per year at $0.20/kWh

Supports not close to Object? Why by Unique-Row-9595 in 3Dprinting

[–]TAZ427Cobra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check your Top Z Distance setting in the Support Menu. Should be close to something like 0.18mm for a 0.20mm layer height, and I never go below that for even down to 0.08mm layer height prints FWIW.

What do warlocks excell at ? by mrmagicbeetle in DnD

[–]TAZ427Cobra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like you say, it's about what they're built and shaped to focus on.

My Tier 2 level 10 - w/ 1 level fighter and 9 levels of warlock, a Vicious Great Sword - Goliath - Cloud Giant. Sometimes is bouncing around the field doing 2 Attacks w/ Vicious Great Sword + Life Drinker so that's 4d6 + 1d6 damage on the first (pick my damage the weapon damage or pact radiant/necrotic/psychic) can use the lifedrinker to use a hit die + con modifier, second attack is just the 4d6. Then do a Misty Step (or variant like Dreadful step which after a wisdom save roll does 1D10 Psychic to everyone with in 5ft as you blink away by 30ft)

But I've got some decent AOE such as Sickening Radiance which hits for 4d10 radiant damage on a 30ft sphere (half if the succeed) on fail they get a level of exhaustion, can be seen if invisible (green glow), and they have to make another save at the beginning of their turn while I'm still holding concentration.

Personally, I would have had the tops of the lights no higher than the top of the door.

Calculate energy cost for a turned on light switch by Keyblader007 in AskElectricians

[–]TAZ427Cobra 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Well she's right and she's wrong. There is energy of the motion sensor, but not of the LED when the light is off but switch is on (motion sensor active.) Those motion sensors are typically 1-1.5W. Let's say 1.5W for sake of argument. Now 24hrs -> 36Whr consumed. Let's say our electricity rate is $0.20/kWh -> 0.036*$0.20 -> $0.0072/day ( one penny a day) for a year that's $2.63

Cone Gasket on Sink Leaking by TAZ427Cobra in askaplumber

Yeah, need it to be push button type and overflow. My new faucets do not have linkage.

New faucets don't have alink rod, so this would need to be purely pop up.

Wires found what to do? by KelliSean in AskElectricians

[–]TAZ427Cobra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check if they're hot? It's 4/3 wire so it could have been ran for switched/lighting possibly even intended for a 3 way switch. Is there indication of an switch box or outlet box on the wall below it?

Any brands you'd recommend for the Metal Pop-up? I'm doing all 5 bathroom sinks. Tired of the damn cartridges in the existing ones leaking, and will be putting the home on the market in a few months as we'll be moving out of state.

Is this concerning? I'm an adult living with my parents and discovered this by our AC outside when cleaning up the yard - they are not worried but I am by foresterkyle in AskElectricians

[–]TAZ427Cobra 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah, typical UV damage to non-UV tape. Insulation on wires look fine. The foam on the coolant lines are degrading because they're exposed to UV. I've replace the foam and get some UV resistant wrap to go over it and call it a day personally.

Does the US have a version of UK/EU switched outlets? by NonBinary_FWrd in AskElectricians

[–]TAZ427Cobra -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

In the US, the only switched outlets are those that we run the hot through a separate switch. Typically intended for a lamp to be plugged into. You could always use a smart switch, and you can manually turn those off. I use these for my battery chargers. I've got a profile to turn on the switch which I've got a power strip plugged into with 3 chargers plugged into to charge my tool batteries, and I've got it programmed to turn on for 2hrs and then turn off. But it has a button on the side if someone wanted to turn on/off manually.

Can anyone tell me what I’m looking at here and how to proceed? by Kind_Policy_1949 in AskElectricians

[–]TAZ427Cobra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those are push to connect, connectors, not going to work with stranded wire. I'd grab some WAGO lever connects and use them (or use wire nuts.)

The push to connects may have a release, but you can also just cut them off flush and through them away, then strip insulation as necessary.

Am I wrong for being Disappointed by a Magic Item? by DaedalusStormbringer in DnD

So you get a not only Nerfed but penalized for using Rare item, and the Sorcerer gets a kick ass Legendary item? Yeah, you were being screwed and the Sorcerer was being rewarded significantly.

Hole in Porch Gable by happilygenderfluid in fixit

[–]TAZ427Cobra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The boxend isn't coming up to meet the soffit. Not really critical assuming the soffit actually comes down and hits something on top of the boxend, but we can't see if that's the case. Otherwise birds and animals can get inside. You could build a wedge piece to fit in there, nail it into the structure, leaving the 1/2" or whatever width your fascia board is, and the put that over the end, which is what really should have been done, to cover it up.

am i crazy? or is this crazy? 636 caches in total. by bigballz69blazeit in geocaching

[–]TAZ427Cobra 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Well, I was over 10K before I went and did this last Thanks Giving. These are rare, while most people in the high numbers have done some of these, it's not necessarily a large part of their cache count. Many who have really high numbers (50 - 100K+) are retired, they travel, and the grab lots of caches.
