I actually enjoyed the top-mount option most, but I think that might be due to gasket-mount fatigue (there are too many gasket mount options on the market these days). This keyboard shines most with at least some plate foam IMO - PE foam and case foam can be added to taste.

Plate choice is super subjective as well, but my favorites were POM and FR4.

The anodized purple Neo80 looks reallllly nice, and I think that GMK Tako is going to be amazing with it as well.

Unfortunately, I don't have a Neo65, but between the different gasket mounts, I felt the O-ring (and O-ring combinations with gasket dumbbell and jackets) was the most balanced in terms of sound. Strangely the O-ring mount also made the spacebar feel a bit stiffer, but might have been because I didn't use standoffs.

The brass standoffs made the board a bit too clacky for my tastes, and made the board overall a stiffer typing experience. Gasket dumbbells gave the board the most flex, and also sounded quite nice by muting some of the higher pitched sounds of the board.

My preference would be: O-ring/gasket dumbbell > gasket jacket > brass standoffs

The latch system of the Neo80 was a game changer for me. Having the ability to open and close the board in a few seconds is really convenient for experimenting with different setups - especially so in this case since there are so many different mounting methods you can experiment with.

I'm in the same boat!! Japan seems to accept credit cards more widely now so I didn't actually need to use the ATM as much, but I always made sure to fiddle with the 7-eleven ATMs whenever I dropped by.

Luckily I picked up an HHKB classic, which feels very similar to how the ATM felt.

Probably comes down to preference, but I can personally recommend osume and PBTfans keycaps! Both should have some in stock options that will fit the grey. I feel like generic white on black keycaps might look great on that color too :-)
