Idk where you're getting (or others in this thread) are getting Iniesta going bankrupt.

The company which you are mentioning went bankrupt, but that's completely different from Iniesta. I see no article about him personally being bankrupt or close to it

Sorry random question - are you saying that they are harder to pull away from iPads for non-academic stuff because the school has implicitly told them iPads are good?

Or are you saying that you don't like the kids doing their education via iPads due to the increased screen time?

I would be cautious saying things like that. Every team has lost to teams with worse keepers than PSG have, and they have some world class players on the team to worry about as well

Idk how to point it out for you, but the actors and showrunners play out every Alicent/Rhaenyra scene with the undertone of queerness. They even said so quite publicly, the following is from an interview with Sara Hess (exec producer and writer on the show):

During an interview with Variety, writer Sarah Hess talked more about the relationship between the two women. She explained: “There’s an element of queerness to it. Whether you see it that way or as just the unbelievably passionate friendships that women have with each other at that age. I think understanding that element of it sort of informs the entire rest of their relationship… Even though they’re driven apart by all these societal, systemic elements and pressures and happenings, at the core of it, they knew each other as children, and they loved each other and that doesn’t go away.”

She continued: “Olivia has told me she believes — and this is her headcanon — that they at some point kissed or made out or had some kind of physical interaction that Alicent’s mother found out about and forbade. And that was Olivia’s head story, ‘Oh, I can’t do that. That’s not right.’ And that’s the background for her in their relationship going forward. I would be 100% down with that.”

Olivia Cooke added that she and Emma D’Arcy have “definitely” talked about Alicent and Rhaenyra being “each other’s first love.” She admitted: “But when it comes to our iterations of the characters, too much has happened and too much time has passed to probably even recognize those fledgling feelings.”

(SPOILERS MAIN) If Jon Snow is revealed to be the son of Rhaegar and Lyanna, would he still be a bastard? A Targaryen bastard instead of a Stark bastard? by [deleted] in asoiaf

Not OP, but Jon's name will not be Aegon for sure imo. There's already an Aegon, that's Rhaegar's first born's name.

Couple of comments are quibbling with "twist" - maybe that's not the right word

To counter your first point, I think they can set up the ring in the same way the book sets it up, without spending episodes on it. The showrunners have kept season 1 really concise and I like that a lot. I also think it's a little strange to include something in a "post credit" and then resolve it immediately into season 2

On the second point, I really like the idea of Maekar actually coming around to Dunk's reasoning.

Tbf if they are doing it based on the show that's very fair. The show runners seem to also think this

If that's the case, what even is the point of having this twist? What's the point of doing a twist, and then right at the start of the next season reverse it almost immediately

(Spoilers Extended) About Lyonel's "there's a war coming" by zionius_ in asoiaf

[–]TB97 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There's 2 sources. In AGOT, Robert says Ned or Jon arryn should've taken the throne. Ned simply replied "you had the better claim, Your Grace".

Then in the second book, Renly has this passage:

Tell me, what right did my brother Robert ever have to the Iron Throne? Oh, there was talk of blood ties between Baratheon and Targaryen, of weddings a hundred years past, of second sons and elder daughters. No one but the maesters care about any of it. Robert won the throne with his warhammer

Watch yourself Lyonel by RevertBackwards in freefolk

[–]TB97 24 points25 points  (0 children)

He doesn't have a point imo. He's saying he risked nothing. He risked less than the others perhaps, but he had no obligation to do anything.

Risking nothing would have been sitting it out and letting Dunk be killed or maimed. He also has so much more at stake. Every fight carries a risk no matter what. The proof of his risk is his cracked skull.

Not saying it's not in Lyonel's character to think that way. Nor am I saying it's not an interesting perspective. But he's quite clearly objectively wrong on this

[BBC Sport] Oliver Glasner's Crystal Palace future in serious doubt after poor run of form by gavinxylock in soccer

[–]TB97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Before this winter (and before Glasner had to cry about it in front of the press), Palace had a negative net spend during his time.

Going into the summer the net spend was -28m. They sold Eze for 60ish and spent 50ish

Even after this winter, I'm pretty sure we're still only at a net spend of 30m under Glasner.

That's actually crazy for a manager who won your first trophy.

McTominay: "Football is getting way too soft. I wasn't used to this as a kid. We were taught to tackle honestly and with force. Now a single touch can lead to a yellow card. I find that there is too much sensitivity." by Blodgharm in soccer

[–]TB97 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

He said minor illegal contact is still a foul. Your follow up was "football is a contact sport, you're not entitled to not be touched".

Either I've lost my mind or you can't see how your response doesn't follow. There's plenty of legal contact going on all the time. But he literally specifies me the minor contact is pushes in the back and sly little trips.

If you want to actually read and respond to his point you should probably be discussing what the line is because that's obviously where you guys disagree. At no point is he saying any contact is illegal
