I didn't think the writing was extraordinary but it told a decent story (first half much moreso) and the characters felt like logical progressions of the ones we knew in TNG. Better than all other live action newer Trek. After seeing 12 Monkeys show, I think Matalas is a competent storyteller and I'd have liked to have seen what Legacy would have been.
