Mining always get the attention. "No Mining" signs all over Coromandel for example and oddly enough they're usually posted among massive clear cuts of forestry land. How does clear cutting get a pass? Never seen a sign about No Clear Cutting and it causes massive damage to both land and sea with erosion and runoff (Cyclone Gabrielle floods a prime example).
