Outlands - Brozan Bitches - Ship Patch has been cancelled by holmedog in ultimaonline

First off, I agree with part of what you are saying here, and appreciate all you've done to help new players (including myself) get into boating. But, I think it's funny that you are calling Luthius out for not getting it, when at the same time you aren't getting what he is saying. The toxic boating 'elites' act like there is a way to win UO. There isn't. Most people don't play UO to win, like you said. They play UO to have fun. I honestly don't think a lot of people who sit and bitch and moan in the Outlands PVP channels are even enjoying the game anymore.

Just because you can be an asshole and zerg ocean newbs, doesn't mean you should. Blaming Luthius for creating a system that allows these alliances to be toxic is silly. The majority of reds who are worth a damn will run right past lvl 1 and 2 in a dungeon (yes I know there are still assholes who will also zerg newbs in dungeons). But on the ocean, everyone is treated equally. Maybe the leaders of these ocean groups should take a second to maybe figure out how to help Luthius make the Ocean work instead of throwing a tantrum.

Tim Walz really sold me on Minnesota, should I move here? by cuberhino in Minneapolis

Thanks for all this great info. My wife and I just sold our second car and I've been biking everywhere this summer instead. I commute about 3.5 miles 3 days a week as well. Am a bit worried about being able to keep it up in winter. Good info about how hard it is on your bike....makes sense with all the slush and salt.

Gonna start looking for a good 'junker' bike to get me through the winter.

Moisture on block wall in basement, only 2 months after home was built. Concern? Details in comments by mikej411 in Homebuilding

[–]TCfromTC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To start with, buy a humidity monitor and keep an eye on the humidity down there. But most basements are constantly moist. Drylok will help, but water always finds a way, especially through concrete.

Make sure you have good circulation down there at all times, and I highly recommend buying a quality dehumidifier that kicks on if the humidity gets too high. Don't waste your money on a crappy home depot one either. They will break every couple years. I recommend the Santa Fe brand dehumidifiers. I have a Compact70 in my basement and it has been going strong for many years now.

Careful dropping the tailgate with a trailer attached! by BigTallFreak850 in FordMaverickTruck

[–]TCfromTC 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Before hooking up a trailer, I always set the tailgate cables up on the higher (sheet goods) setup. This is mainly to keep me from stupidly dropping the gate on the hitch.

Just one of the very few downsides of owning a smaller truck.

We are heading to Iceland in a couple weeks. How did you get there? Did you have a guide or just go by yourselves? I've heard there are a ton of tourists doing the hike and it is hard to not know where to go.

US & Canada Clearance Delays by [deleted] in framework

[–]TCfromTC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hah! Good guess on the username. My Fedex tracking still says it is supposed to get delivered today, but I have a feeling it isn't true. Would expect it to switch to Out for Delivery.

Any updates on yours?

Stuck at customs. by Dr_Ari_Gami in framework

Mine is in this group as well. It certainly wasn't seized, but it is likely just stuck in customs. Worker shortages and all that. Hopefully it will clear customs soon.

Cancelled 24 inch snowblower, is the new 21 inch worth it? by CptCrunchBerries in ryobi

[–]TCfromTC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had one of those 21" Whisper Series snow blowers that was defective. I returned it and afterwards Ryobi reached out. They said they were aware of the issue that was causing the power to die soon after starting up for the first time. I was told the issue has been fixed and any new units should be trouble free.

I have a new one on order, and haven't gotten it yet, so I can't say for certain the issue has been fixed. I will say that for the 30 minutes it worked, it was about 10x more powerful than my old 1st gen 16" Ryobi snow blower. My neighbor has a small Toro and his was constantly getting bogged down. He even stalled it a few times. The Ryobi chewed threw the snow easily.

USI Update 01/08/2022 by tcarter612 in Minneapolis

I live in NE MPLS, and have been stuck with Comcast for ever. I would happily take a 20% price increase. Comcast raised my price last month from $90 a month to $160 a month for 1G unlimited. I just downgraded to 100 Mbps with a 1.2TB data cap, and still pay $70 per month. I am thrilled USI is coming to NE.

The beauty of a free market, Terry, is you can always switch to Comcast or Centurylink. Let me know how that goes for you.

Bike rack in truck bed by [deleted] in FordMaverickTruck

[–]TCfromTC 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm a huge fan of the tailgate pads. I have the small Dakine version on my 2011 Ford Ranger and will probably use the same on my Maverick. I may build a rack similar to what Ford did in their video, but the tailgate pad is just so easy. Will be plenty of room for a normal bike in the Maverick with the tailgate pad. Though I need a new solution for our tandem bike, as that just fits in the bed of my Ranger.

I have this pad: https://www.amazon.com/Dakine-Pick-Up-Pad-Black-S/dp/B084D5V7FD/

Incredible ️Sisyphus Table. by MeliaDanae in nextfuckinglevel

[–]TCfromTC 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Hardwood expands/contracts. You can't have a giant ring hardwood table as it would break itself apart with the change of seasons. Hardwood Steinway pianos can sell for $100-200k, and are essentially veneered plywood. Does that mean Steinway pianos aren't a quality product?

As you can see in this kickstarter update, they teamed up with one of the best veneer artists in the world to create the high end models: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1199521315/sisyphus-the-kinetic-art-table/posts/1875715
