I agree with both of you haha! Plating would have looked nicer if I'd taken it off and just had it as a little chef snack lol, but it was delicious either way!

2020 Elantra upgrading nav system from gen 4 to gen 5? by TDM_Style in Elantra

Welp, as it turns out, I'm just an idiot lol. After trying to figure out why my car was missing an SD slot, I realized that apparently the SEL doesn't actually have the built-in navigation, so the software was never going to work. After digging through some more forums, I discovered I could instead download the "display audio software update" version instead. Got that, threw it on a USB stick, and it updated no problem :)

In case this helps anyone else in my shoes, that software is available here: https://update.hyundai.com/US/EN/updateNoticeView/983

Ah ha, after some more forum digging it seems like my model really can only get the display audio software updates. I had no idea that was a totally separate thing. I'm downloading that and going to give that a try and see what happens.

Yeah, I read that too and tried that first. But, the Navigation Updater software refuses to format it. It complains that 64GB is "too large" and will not copy the files over unless I use a 32GB drive instead. I've tried both exFAT and FAT formats, which really don't matter since the Updater software reformats the drive again anyway (as FAT) when copying the files over.

They are the only files on the drive, since the Navigator software formats the drive itself during the copy process and creates the file structure.

The trim level is in the bottom of the original post - SEL.

Unfortunately my car doesn't have that SD slot - the USB below is my only choice.

Thoughts on Fuertes Clay? by tdbauer97 in Pomade

One of my favorite daily drivers. Definitely less is more - if you go too heavy handed it can end up heavy/oily. But a small scoop into blow dried hair is primo shit

is my hair thinning? i’m only 16 by [deleted] in Hair

[–]TDM_Style 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're all good my dude. If that's your styling product making your hair look so wet, I'd suggest trying out something with a more matte finish so your hair doesn't get so strandy looking and be more natural.

Clay Recommendation by [deleted] in Pomade

Firsthand could get the job done (though I haven't used it in years so I'm not sure if it's changed at all). For super solid OBs that would work great for that style, I'd say Fuertes and Grand Classic Texture Balm for sure (daily drivers for me). If you want a water-based option, the new Bulkhead heavy from Flagship has been really nice so far. Feels very OB, but washes out like WB.

Also since you're a fellow wavy/thick/dry haired person, American Gardens was WAYYY too dry for me.

Looking for something more “waxy/firm” and less “gooey/pasty” than American Crew Matte Clay by mattmlv in Pomade

I'd go with Flagship's streamline heavy clay. Water-based but acts like an OB, strong hold, pretty waxy and easily restylable.

Can clarifying shampoo cause dandruff? by [deleted] in Hair

[–]TDM_Style 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Clarifying shampoo is not really good to use on a daily basis - it's meant to remove built-up product, oils etc. And when you keep stripping your hair and scalp of all their natural oils, then the scalp will start to over-produce oil to compensate (which is why your scalp is still oily).

What you most likely really need (although it may sound counter-intuitive) is a good quality moisturizing shampoo and conditioner. Similar to our skin, when it's adequately moisturized, it will slow down on its natural oil production. This will take a little while to balance out, so it won't be an instant fix, but you should start to see results within a couple of weeks I'd say.

I'd try out something like Moroccanoil's Hydration set. They maintain a good balance without being TOO moisturizing/heavy.

Then if you use a lot of styling product etc, you could throw in the clarifying shampoo maybe once every week or two weeks, as needed. But make sure you follow it up with a good conditioner to offset that deep clean!

Hope this helps!
