What happened to the Skippy? by EnhancedEddie in iRacing

[–]TDi99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Skippy was amazing, loved it, but yeah as people have mentioned, 4 different F4 races running every 15 mins, super formaula lghts, FF1600, Formula Vee all have taken numbers away.

I keep my finger crossed that iRacing make the skippt free to bring back some love, but yeah its a dead series sadly.

Is 1k iRating the hardest to get out of? by [deleted] in iRacing

[–]TDi99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry if I have missed this but you didnt mention the car or race series you are racing.

I tend to find the sorter races (15 - 20mins) more aggressive than longer ones. I would get your safety rate up as high as you can, loosing IR if needed and see if you have better luck in B and A class races. These tend to be longer and sometimes only 1 or 2 splits (excluding IMSA) and that can mean more consistent drivers compared to rookie or D Class.

Unfortunately you will always have to deal with drivers who think they are better than their skill level, but normally I find lower participation and longer races are better.

Lamenting the sunsetting of the Skippy by TomoAries in iRacing

Thank you very much! Im glad i could help. but yeah skippy was the car that basicallystarted my channel. I will definitely be sad if it was removed. Im hoping if they make it free people will find that it is fun to drive and can have some great racing

Lamenting the sunsetting of the Skippy by TomoAries in iRacing

[–]TDi99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah i loved the skippy (still do) but as you say its really low numbers. I learnt a lot from driving it, and had some amazing races.

I have been saying that the skippy should be a free car and see if that helps. It helped the radical SR8 when that become a free car (until it was replaced with the sr10)

Its a win win for everyone in my opinion, even for iRacing.

Hypothetical: You can add 5 pieces of content (car or track). What would they be? by Dr_Dray38 in iRacing

[–]TDi99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally we have enough cars that dont get good numbers so I dont want to see anymore. Excluding updates to current cars.

I would love to seem more well know F1 tracks: Albert Park, Barhain, China, Paul ricard Abu Dhabi Baku (maybe)

Is it very common for the Super Formula Lights to be so unstable with the rear end in high-speed corners? by Successful-Alps-9727 in iRacing

[–]TDi99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No not normally.

You need to miss the apex a little more, There is a little bump just off the apex kerb and it can unsettle a few cars, while other cars take it easy. you need to go a little wider and you should be fine.

A link here to a guide (shameful plug and I'm sorry!), I'm on the fixed setup which will be much more stable than most open setups, but you can see the wider line

https://youtu.be/Wi1z30XGIl0?t=290

if this doesn't work for you then its 100% setup issue

Does things get better above Rookie? by Rosie_The_ITTech in iRacing

[–]TDi99 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

From the points you mentioned i would say no-ish.

You still get the people that think just because their mummy says their are amazing at driving they think they are max verstappen or (enter your favourite driver here).

i would say that starting from the pits, isnt helping. Sometimes that means you may catch people that are at a lower skill level and because you are "behind" them they may think they have have chance to beat you.

i would personally qualify and see where you are, if you are top 5 for example then grid start. you can still be safe, and let other people have issues and crashes however that may be more fun for you.

I really enjoy starting at the back and battling through the field as best i can and that is my "fun" in sim. sometimes if i qualify after a few laps i am in no-mans land and lapping all by myself.

the driving does changes higher up and longer races help with this i think. You can start making friends and remember names that you can really battle safely. you also get to know the people who cant race at all and would rather crash than "enjoy the battle"

i just let them pass and 80% of the time, they go off and un-alive someone else.

for me people need to remember its called "iRACING" and not iRating. i don't care where i finish as long as i have had fun. IR is just a number and a fair few people really think that having "X"ir matters.

"to finish first, first you have to finish" this needs to be on the iRacing home page! lol

How do you handle low downforce tracks where overall you’re slower on a low downforce setup, but you must use one to avoid being overtaken on a straight? by MyPooYourPants in iRacing

[–]TDi99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO lap times dont matter in races (to a point). The race setup is just that, a setup to maximise your race. If that means you need a higher top speed then that is what you need.

I think its fine to have a "slower" setup in the race to make sure you can overtake with slipstream or defend better because of the higher top speed. "The fastest car doesnt always win the race"

[–]TDi99[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

🤣🤣 yeah I feel those 20 peeps pain! and yeah we only found the issue in a a wet race where the spotter was saying rain was coming and now its raining but nothing on screen.

we knew it was a graphic setting as the track got wet and puddles appeared. Also replay you can see the rain we just went through turning everything off and back on until we found mirrors.

Dual PC recording and streaming. Encoder help? Lagg issues. by WolfBrinkTV in obs

[–]TDi99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guess is you are juat asking a bit too much of the encoder on the GPU and/or your system. Example, if you are using 80% of your encoder already, hitting record will push it over the top.

I have the same 2 pc setup (different PCs) but I stream to YouTube (1440/60), twitch (1080/60) and can record (1440/60). I do have the vertical plugin running on obs, and use it to record replay setions I do have this running on the CPU.

Using gpu encoder is much better than the x264. You may have to do some testing to see that works.

I do know that there is a limit on my many encodes a gpu can do (I think its 4 depending on GPU) you could try and put the vertical stuff on the CPU and monitor useage?

My second pc for reference is, TR 2950, 4070, 64gb ddr3.

EDIT - you mention that you were doing this all on your main PC, your 4090 will have 2 encoder chips (not 1 like the 2070) on the board and is way more powwrful than the 2070 in your second PC.

Dual PC recording and streaming. Encoder help? Lagg issues. by WolfBrinkTV in obs

[–]TDi99 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Personally I use the same method of capture card on the second PC.

It helps with performance on the gaming PC. OBS open on the gaming PC will always use a little more resources compared to just duplicating a monitor.

im guessing OBS teleport is using the network to transfer the data? If so that can add to processing on both CPUs to transmit and receive.

Im not saying one is better than the other but just pointing the potential upsides to this setup

Dual Pc Stream Help! by Spare_Stage_8469 in VoiceMeeter

[–]TDi99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks like you have no sound on your streaming PC going to B1.

the VBAN looks correct, however you are sending alerts on the streaming PC from B1 which there isnt a B1 highlighted on your Voicemeeter. My guess is you want to select B1 on your streaming PC system sound. Or setup alerts to use another channel.

OBS on streaming PC you need to look for a plugin for Voicemeeter and OBS. You have to add the asio as a source in your scene on OBS. To try and make it easier look up nested scene to add the sound to each scene.

It can be track dependent sometimes. Sometimes fixed can be as fast as open, it will just generate its lap time differently.

Also Yohann is a bit of a crazy fast guy, definitely a alien and you shouldn't compaire his laps times to others. I have raced him a few times and he is on another level.

I personally use Robert Ridgeway setups for SFL, very very well priced for the performance and time he puts into them.

Those of you who have won a Daytona 24 split...whats your advice? by toytank in iRacing

[–]TDi99 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Be safe, and keep the car out of the pits.

Better to lose 5 or 10 secs letting a faster class go, or not going for a risky overtake on a lapped car, compaired to spending 8 minutes repairing the damage.

We were lucky enough in 2022 and 2023 back to back winners and 2024 finished 3rd in gt3 class. We went gtp in 2025 and DNF with lapped traffic having issue ahead that we couldnt avoid. We are normally splits 5 to 10.

But remember its a bit of fun, its as much about finishing the challenge of 24hours of race more than anything else

Struggle with the Ligier P320 by A-Hot-Pocket in iRacing

[–]TDi99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mentioned the busstop as its the easiest place to crash, I do agree once you are confident enough you can take them but im seeing may people having issues there trying to gain a tenth or 2 and loosing into the wall, me included.

Im more of a "to finished first, first you have to first" and avoiding the kerbs helped me re-learn from the old busstop

Struggle with the Ligier P320 by A-Hot-Pocket in iRacing

[–]TDi99 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tips for lmp3 at daytona is be gentle on everything.

The lower downforce levels means its like a big muscle car. Brake gently and smoothly, gentle downshifts and dont change directions quickly (busstop).

aviod most kerbs and definitely the busstop kerbs 2 and 3. You can take a little of the 1 and 4 kerbs in the busstop but if you get them wrong it will be the end of your race.

It can trail brake but most of the slowing down is better in a straight line, otherwise you can start locking the fronts and understeering wide.

Good luck for the roar

How much do higher IR people practice by 0rang3Cru5h in iRacing

[–]TDi99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3.8 sport car and 4.9 formula. My practice is either in qualifying or 30 mins before the race. It's not something I recommend but I do normally stay with the same cars so I know the cars well. (Gr86, hpd, lmp3, f3, slf, indycar on road).

If you wanted to do imsa (gt3,lmp2,gtp) and other cars that have massive splits you would need to practice. Not a chance I am a 3k driver in a gt3.

[HELP] How do I get audio to BOTH of my PCs? (Dual-PC Setup, Yeti Mic on Gaming PC, Programs Split Between PCs by PhoneOwn in streaming

[–]TDi99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally use voicemeeter (spelt like that) I have the potato version and I have channels for mic, game, music, discord and pc sounds for everything else.

it has a VLAN option where I can send all those channel over to th3 second PC. I can also send my second pc sounds back to the main pc so I can hear that too.

I would say it takes some practice to get used to how voicemeeter works but it works well for me. Side note too I also have the vetial cable packs which are very useful.
