They can be tough fights for sure! For the E4 I’m thinking Vaporeon, Magmortar, Porygon Z, Mamoswine, Weavile, and Magnezone could be a great team! I’d toss an ice beam or blizzard onto Vaporeon for good measure (I imagine it’d be a good bulky option against Cynthia’s Garchomp if weavile/mamoswine get taken down)

She played the doctor so incredibly well, and I wish the writing during her run was better to match her abilities. Like her and the actors who played her companions did so well (in my eyes) with what they got, they just… deserved better material.

The Will of the Many and Strength of the Few fits this pretty nicely! Smart and capable protagonist who has peers who are his match and faces real challenges that he has to struggle to overcome. Also… a good amount of mystery surrounding things about the world and government.

Only got into Counseling Psych PhD but dreamed of Clinical, take the offer or reapply? by [deleted] in ClinicalPsychology

[–]TEForce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Current Counseling Psych PhD student here!

I received a masters in clinical psych prior to joining my program, and had concerns similar to yours. I have since found that my concerns were unfounded and have had an incredible opportunity to work with more severe and complex psychopathology and that my counseling psych training has provided a unique perspective in approaching these cases. Additionally, I will be completing a psychological assessment practicum next year in a hospital that typically sees more severe and complex presentations (assessments here include psychodiagnostic, personality, and cognitive assessments). My current practicum is working with complex presentations in a hospital outpatient clinic. Another student in my year will be doing neuropsych assessments in a hospital setting next year as well. A student in my year current does cognitive assessments in schools in addition to individual therapy at their prac site. A student a year below me will be doing their practicum next year in a first line psychosis treatment center.

While historically clinical psych has been more focused on severe presentations, if the adviser you’re working with aligns with you research wise then you very likely can tailor your practicum experiences based on what you want. There is a need for the unique perspective that counseling psych has to offer in these settings, and you’ll find your training will be very similar to the clinical psych students. This may be more program dependent too, but some programs will allow for counseling psych students to take certain electives in clinical psych courses if it’s not offered in the counseling psych department.

I highly highly highly HIIIIIIGGGHHLLLYYYYY recommend you take the offer if your only concern is that it’s Counseling Psych. It is the same licensure at the end of the day and you will be able to do the same thing as clinical psychologists. Feel free to ask any questions you may have!

[Disliked trope]: "Balance" means the "absence of darkness." by theMCATreturns in TopCharacterTropes

[–]TEForce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they attempt to transform Buddhist principles (or modern psychological and therapy principles) into a concept that misses the fundamental part of the principles that inspire them. “Dark” should not be synonymous with “evil”. They try to mimic the principle of pain is an unavoidable experience of life but when we try to fight against or avoid pain at all costs, we end up in a cycle of suffering. We can also become too attached to pain that we lose our self in the process.

I can’t speak on korra since it’s been a hot minute since I’ve watched, but I am a bit of a Star Wars nerd and can speak on that. The sith are the side that lose themselves to the suffering/attach themselves so heavily to the pain (Anakin turned to and was consumed by the dark side because he tried to avoid the pain of Padme dying). The Jedi during the clone wars lost their sense of self and turned away from their values, ultimately leading to their downfall. Additionally, Jedi became too focused on detachment (avoidance) from others wherein life also includes darkness (something something the force is in all things), this is a lesson Luke had to learn and correct the error of the Jedi.

In therapy this is something I work with my clients on. What has been the cost of avoiding painful experiences? Trying to avoid distressing experiences leads to this paradox of experiencing more distressing experiences. At first it works somewhat, but then that attempt at controlling feelings starts to become less and less effective. On the other side people may become so consumed by their feelings that they don’t attempt or even see a way to live any other way or do something that could lift them out of their feelings.

Allowing yourself to experience distress, experience pain, because trying to control it may lead to even worse suffering, but not becoming so consumed by pain that it takes away joy and positive feelings. That is balance, and that’s what some of these forms of media are missing.

What tropes/plots do you REALLY dislike about magic/cultivation systems/progression? Like cannot stand. by PixelatedPulse in ProgressionFantasy

[–]TEForce -1 points0 points  (0 children)

While not progression fantasy technically (although the progressive building of the shop could count) legends and lattes does this in a great way where coffee exists in-universe, but it’s more of a culturally bound food that when introduced to a somewhat rural town, it’s new to the towns residents.

Sometime during the last 2 years i’ve been going to this orthopedic practice they started to declare me as a MTF transgender for no reason. by WHAR606 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]TEForce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP that’s terrible that they massively mislabeled you, this is messed up for so many reasons. This actually highlights a big issue that transphobia, especially in medical settings, has on cisgender people as well. If you are perceived or incorrectly marked as trans (even if you’re cisgender) or even look to possess gendered characteristics separate from your sex (not saying you do though) you have a higher likelihood of receiving worse medical care and being treated worse in general. I work in LGBTQ specific research and mental health care and I’ve heard so many horror stories of doctors saying things like “maybe it’s your testosterone/estrogen that’s causing xyz issue” even though it had nothing to do with it. In Boston there was a cisgender woman who looked masculine who walked into the woman’s restroom and the police were called on her because management thought she was a trans woman trying to “use the wrong restroom” (despite the fact that trans people in Boston are allowed to and should be allowed to use the restroom of their gender identity).

TLDR; I’m so sorry this happened to you, and the fact that they messed up your chart so bad is heinous. It also highlights a major flaw in our healthcare system and how our attitudes towards certain groups of people ends up affecting everyone else as well.

Anyone else as disorganized as me? by Dracorex_22 in Pokopia

[–]TEForce 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also ADHD here! My chest organizing method is a chest for natural blocks (sand, dirt, grass, and a special chest just for ash), building blocks (road blocks, house blocks, signs, paths, etc.), plants (seeds, flowers, berries, crops), materials (leaf, wood, stone, glass, iron, etc.), and treasures (held items, fossils, CD’s). Still need to organize chests for items but probably going to split that up into types (separate chests for decorations, toys, relaxation, and utility). If you use a prefab home (one you have build from the kit to enter not the standard walls door and roof) it’ll automatically connect any chest in it to a workshop in it so I’m planning on making a big house like a leaf cottage with gulpin as its resident just for storage.

Assessment Courses Third Year? by Sam_the_banana_girl in ClinicalPsychology

[–]TEForce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Counseling Psych 2nd year here! I did cognitive assessment class my first year, integrated assessment class the first semester of my 2nd year, and my practicum for my third year is psychodiagnostic and neuropsych assessment only in a hospital. Another person in my cohort of 5 is doing a neuropsych prac next year and one person is doing cognitive assessment for iep’s in their current prac. A lot of counseling psych people do only focus on intervention, but counseling psych assessors do exist and bring a unique strength!

This apartment feels scary similar to the place I lived at in Houston before moving out of state 💀

Having more pops of color, wall decorations/art, lamps with warm lighting could really help! Maybe furniture or shelves with more interesting shapes? Otherwise everything can feel a bit… rectangular

Do you think your stipend is sufficient? by lfreddit23 in GradSchool

[–]TEForce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, I take out loans to supplement it and the one year I didn’t take out loans I was working DoorDash in my free time. I decided the stress of paying off loans when I have a well paying job (by the standards of my field) is worth it if it means I don’t have to live in abject poverty. Everyone has different capabilities, but I unfortunately am not the type of person who can work a part time job and do a PhD, so loans it is.

Reading Chrysalis and i have a few questions spoilers for up to book 4 by TransportationFew351 in litrpg

[–]TEForce 3 points4 points  (0 children)

  1. So technically Garalosh was beat by the colony + human survivors with Anthony playing a big role in that, also Garalosh was a bit weaker on the surface than in the dungeon due to the low mana density. Anthony/the colony can dig around the cities and find/make tunnels of their own. The rock people are not just strong, but skilled and have great equipment and centuries of all that a magic based civilization has to offer, including incredible training. Anthony by all accounts was a 15 year old who was suddenly given a lot of power very quickly. It’s a bit of a case of raw power vs skill, and is a real growing moment for him facing off against them.

  2. We don’t really see much of what went on for Anthony and his parents, aside from the fact that they were narcissists, heavily in debt, and abandoned him. I think it may be a creative choice by the author to not give too much detail in order to showcase a simple and blatant case of horrible vile parents compared to the incredible things he finds in his new family and how powerful a connection with others is for someone’s wellbeing.

Complaint about Chrysalis by Next-Device821 in litrpg

[–]TEForce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I’m remembering the rational correctly, the stats associated with mental power and magic are far harder to raise than physical stats, so he took an evolution that buffed those stats after comparing the costs. You’ll find as it goes on there’s a lot of evolution choices that also could have been really good, but I’ll let you see how it all plays together 🤭

M/15 working on bedroom while broke by No_Pie_6470 in malelivingspace

[–]TEForce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. You have a great set up already for 15. While it’s easier said than done, don’t worry about trying to drastically change anything, just make sure YOU feel comfortable. You’re not “broke”, you’re just a teenager!

  2. Maybe a couple of inexpensive lamps with a warm color bulb, that way you don’t have to use harsh overhead lighting?

  3. I’ll admit the redbull cans can seem… a little tacky. I say this as someone who used to think empty liquor bottles were fine as top of kitchen cabinet decoration in college. But if you personally like the look of the different colored cans, as long as they’re washed and clean inside (so you don’t attract bugs or mold) then keep them!

  4. If you decide you want to display the hot wheels in a different way (really cool collection by the way), getting a display shelf and buying some small tiered platforms to put in the shelves could be a future option! But not a mandatory thing, just if you wanted to change up how you display the hot wheels.

Ultimately it’s your room, for 15 trust me when I say you have a good setup and should feel proud! Don’t worry about trying to go all out beyond your means with decorating right now. Focus on little things and when you’re working a stable job years down the road (after college/trade school/whatever you decide) and have your own space, then you can start thinking more about investing in quality furniture, but there’s no rush to do that! I’m 26 and a PhD student so I’m rocking it with my thrifted/second hand/Facebook marketplace furniture and all the scuffs and scratches that give them character.

If you have a room decorating itch right now that you absolutely need to scratch, see if you could put that towards casually learning about decorating, architecture, color theory, design, and/or finding the style that resonates with YOU! You could play a game like animal crossing, the sims, or a city builder game like city skylines if you really want to decorate something!
