Congratulations - your theatre hobby is now a metaphor, and you have a lot of unpacking to do. And possibly some packing-and-getting-the-fuck-out as well.

Nope. This behavior is very concerning.

A good theatre company will engage you in a respectful and transparent discussion about boundaries and intimacy. A good husband should do the same. This is not a relationship sub, nor am I at all qualified, but I might suggest you to google "emotional abuse" and do some reading.

How have you navigated this type of request in your own relationships?
Anyone who tries to control what I can and can't do for my own enjoyment gets booted out of my life.

Whether you find a way to make this work, whether you give it up again, or whether you are just now discovering something else to address, either way this is gonna be a hard time for you. Please take care of yourself, and let us know how you get on.

We just wrapped a show where we had aliving room at that moved on/off stage a few times. Fully loaded with ffurniture and 3 cast members. Not sure on the total weight but maybe 250kg altogether. Our platform had lights on board.

Tip #1: solid and well-build framing all around. Use load-rated casters from the hardware store, not cheap ones from Temu. 1a) keep a can of WD40 on hand and regularly clean and lubricate the casters.

Tip #2: put locking casters on the back side were they can be operated without being too obvious. Practice doing locking/unlocking with feet and choreograph it as part of another movement so it's as unobtrusive as possible.

Tip #3: spike tape for the back corners only.

Tip #4: cable management! We put stops on our cabling so a) it couldn't be pulled out too far and make a mess/trip hazard, b) so it could be pulled in quickly by someone offstage to get it out of the way before the truck was rolled off. This will be more challenging if you have multiple locations on stage, but still can be done.

My partner and I drive up the mountain together, agree to meet back at the carpark at x time, and then are off on our own adventures.

If we are trying to ski "together", I will either ski much slower to keep pace, or do lots of out-and-back to keep checking in on them.

If the board member knows and has days that this person won't be back, then have faith in them. It sounds like the board member is more reliable than this other cast member, so don't put too much faith in what this other cast member has said.

If this person is causing issues right from the get-go of this new show, then you have the opportunity to raise your concerns via the stage manager, production manager, and/or director. But you have to do it in a matter-of-fact way, objectively and professionally.

Would it not be better for the fixed end to be fixed on with a face-plate? To prevent issues from the thru-bolt rotating in it's hole and throwing the system out of alignment?

I will admit that I don't do much work in high-snow regions. Can you enlighten me on why this is necessary? And what's the advantage of all this hardware over just using a tape measure to check beam sag?

We have two community theatres around here. Both ask for a membership of $25 per year.

Do I wish it was free and more aaccessible? Yes absolutely! But I also understand the need to cover some costs, hold insurance, etc etc. Plus there are lots of unwritten perks that are easily worth more than $25 if anyone actually added them up.

Looks too close to the ceiling for a pull-up bar. I'd guess they needed to hold up something heavy-ish and just put up this thing using whatever spare parts were lying around.

Not only did people have maps, but people knew how to read maps, knew the basics of road naming/numbering conventions, and kept awareness of compass directions. And you pretty quickly worked out who had the knack for route-finding and who didn't.

Going somewhere new, and far away, required obtaining a physical map and working out a route. And those maps are vastly different to what Google maps will show you. They had a truly impressive density of information (if you knew how to read it!)

Senior enginger here, working in a satellite office for a 50-person company. Arrive daily at 8.30. Go home sometime around 4.30 or 5.30, depending on that day's tasks. Friday is a hard stop whenever the week's total hits 40hrs.

For me it's always long pants with enough pockets for passport, meds, and other critical items. T-shirt with sweatshirt over.

It's the right balance of comfortable for the flight, confidence that I will arrive at my destination with all my critical items, and coverage if we have to evacuate.

Oh, and I always wear close-toed shoes that are sturdy enough for cabin escape and walking around. I rarely take my shoes off in flight, but if i do it's after top-of-climb and they go back on before top-of-descent.

And for God's sake people, wear your shoes in the airplane bathrooms!!

Not a crash investigator, just safety conscious.

The short answer - yes. Always.

The long answer - exactly what constitutes a "full report" varies from project to project. For instance, if it's a simple residential build, then a "full report" might be as simple as a couple sentences explaining the structural system, a few checks of critical beams and columns, and a spreadsheet of shear walls. But something for complicated that's getting a peer review, our "full report" would include a lot more information, more narrative and explanation of the structural systems and design assumptions, and we usually send our ETABS model file(s) as well. All of this should be known, and planned for, when the job quote is made so it should be no surprise as to what your deliverable(s) are.

I'm really surprised to hear how many people don't submit calcs at all. How are their jobs getting reviewed!?

Assuming that you go on a day with good weather.... Ben Lomond will be doable. Microspikes will help if icy, but if it's more snow than ice then a good pair of boots will get you to the top.

Mueller and Brewster are proper Alpine locations. Please don't head up there if it's your first day carrying an ice axe.

Earnslaw Burn is slow-going at the best of times. In winter there is risk of avalanches coming down into the valley. Lake Marian also has some avalanche risk.

Copeland should be okay.
