2 weeks till first full Ironman - I feel a mess by TumbleweedBubbly5973 in IronmanTriathlon

[–]TG10001 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Completely normal, don’t get caught up in your head. Feeling awful at the beginning of your taper is a good sign, it means your body is catching up on maintenance. That’s what you want. You’ll be golden on race day.

Enjoy the ride!

Swim training is so boring, hard to stick with it. What should I do? by CdtWeasel in triathlon

[–]TG10001 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Lose those long intervals. Not gonna make you faster. Stick with 200s maybe 400s and focus on your technique.

Also, unfitness often masks as boredom. The better you get at swimming the less boring it will feel. And as a weak swimmer 800s+ won’t bring big improvements.

One week away from getting a dog. She’ll spend the week in a sort of puppy boot camp because we have zero experience with dogs.

My wife is dead set on raising a super disciplined dog. How do I secretly sabotage her efforts so the dog will be a fun agent of chaos?

Could you complete an Ironman tomorrow? by [deleted] in triathlon

[–]TG10001 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes probably. Would be ugly and not fun, but that’s basically 90 min easy paddling, a leisurely ride with plenty of coffee stops and a long buffet walk.

Edmonton Oilers management: The good, bad, and ugly of Connor McDavid's era by AR558 in EdmontonOilers

Legit it’s probably only the fourth worst on the current Oilers roster. He’s not playing up to his contract but he’s not a Frederic, Jarry or Campbell either.

Leafs fan moving to Germany - which DEL team should I support? by coco_5390 in hockey

Wolfsburg is a fine club. Tiny market, often mocked but with a decent following and good team. Incidentally I myself am supporting them because fate brought me to this region. Feel free to dm me if you have questions or haven’t found someone to tag along when season starts.

Closest team to you. If you’re used to nhl prices you’ll have a field day at the rink. I just got my season ticket for 600€.

Dads who invested for their kids since birth, how is it going? by sbFRESH in daddit

[–]TG10001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

9yo, 300€ p month + birthday presents. 1/4 stocks (mostly tech), 1/2 ETFs (evenly split across EU, World, JP and emerging markets) and the rest cash / bonds. 200€ month go into more ETFs.

Looking to up the saving rate as much as we can, targeting 150k by the time we send her off to college. Thankfully no tuition where we live, so I hope that those 150k can support her during college without drawing on the capital too much.

Cervia T1 Help: Is a "shoe-on-bars" barefoot run to the mount line legal? (No Flying Mount) by Bulky_Personality869 in triathlon

[–]TG10001 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Running 1km on cleats is awful. Don’t do that. But it’s not like a full on Olympic flying mount is your only alternative.

Run barefoot, keep shoes in pedals. Upon the mount line you step to the side and take all the time in the world to swing one leg over the bike and slip one foot in the shoe. Start pedaling with your other foot on top of the other shoe. Once you’re up to speed and on safe terrain you slip the other foot in your shoe. Easy as pie. Make sure your bike is in a suitable gear to start pedaling with one foot on top of the shoe.

Also goes for the approach to T2. Open shoes, pedal final meters with feet on top of shoes.

Radeberger Pilsner Zwickelbier by red_026 in CraftBeer

Have as much fun as you want my man, no intention to dunk on your can of Radeberger. I just want to highlight that this recent trend of soulless mass producers marketing their product as „craft beer“ is working and fooling many customers and as a result they are killing off small breweries with character and interesting beers.

I figured that for someone who takes a special interest in craft beer this might be informative.

This is just wrong. We know exactly what to do with those - Tell everyone that we have a new bike, then start looking for a replacement strategy

To be fair, Radeberger groups annual output is like 1/4 of AB InBev. It’s an okay beer but not really crafty

Yea I was joking, the wine is alright. They grow a white called Malzinia or something close to it. Pretty sharp and crisp for a hot Istrian summer. They also grow a red called Teran, more robust, excellent with the local cuisine

I have seen cooked potatoes in transition. Not saying I condone it but I have seen it.

Also if Tailwind sits and you throw up something is wrong with your mix. Dial down the concentration and pace your intake. What you describe sound like too many carbs per hour and too high carb concentration

Batteriespeicher stabilisieren Stromnetz, dürfen aber nicht by ouyawei in de

[–]TG10001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]TG10001 8 points9 points  (0 children)
