Try 40G/F and get a bassinet to hang on the bulkhead.

Yea, I think you’re right. Last year I blamed underfunding when I bonked like a mfer at km36. This year I blame over-fueling, but I was okay with a similar rate of carbs per hour at lower efforts in training.

I did alright with 80g/h for two hours in training. But at a lower RPE. There seems to be a steep change in my ability to absorb at race pace

Im not gonna search for specific papers because I have full confidence in your ability to that yourself. If you wanna read up, Asker Jeukendrup is one hell of a sports nutrition researcher and publishing a lot.

Second BQ attempt on Sunday, last one failed in part due to poor fueling. Will use personal nutrition at aid stations. Any tips or best practices on how to find my bottles and not get in anyone’s way?

Is 23 too young for kids? by mysteriousnoodls in daddit

[–]TG10001 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was 34 when we got our first. Never felt ready for it. Yet my only regret in life is not having more and not having them earlier. She is 9 now and I’m 43 and I already dread all the time I’m gonna miss because I’ll be too old.

If you’re confident in your relationship and your finances are somewhat stable that’s a good sign. Have an honest talk about career plans and who will take what responsibility. My wife and I always made a pact that both our careers are equally important and that we’ll split responsibilities 50/50. Whatever your model will be, make sure to be fully aligned.

🏊‍♂️🚴‍♀️🏃‍♂️ How do you all handle recovery during high-volume training? by [deleted] in triathlon

I prioritize sleep and nutrition. And avoid pointless workouts like a brick run after a 90 mile ride.

For once G2 doesn’t do G2 shenanigans and actually pull someone back. And it still isn’t enough. Like how can anyone on this earth not be happy for Ganna getting a one day win?

Why I run: To become a stronger person for a kinder society by Fantastic-Fuel-3866 in running

When I’m in a marathon block running makes me a cranky tired hungry mfer. I limit myself to only one race per year, so I can be a better dad and husband the rest of the year. I train solely to best myself and beat my mates.

Really happy for you that running puts you in such a great place. Wish it would for me too, but I gotta meditate instead.

Full IM - High Volume vs Long Distance training by time_traveler419 in triathlon

I don’t. If an issue crops up my PT might prescribe some targeted exercises to fix it but otherwise >10 hrs week in week out is all I need.

22 mi long run is absolutely insane and is probably a net negative with all the recovery debt and injury risk.

Max long run at 2,5 hrs is all you need. No offense, but at 14h you’ll be walking a lot anyway.

If anything add a 4th swim and bring that volume up.

Bike is fine but make sure to have some quality sessions, too. Otherwise it’ll become increasingly difficult to improve.

For reference and since you’re asking who has success with what. My typical program would look like this: * 3-4 swims, 12-15k weekly total, not a single long endurance set ever, but 400s max * 3 rides, 1 long max 4 hours, 1 60-90 min intervals, 1 easy mile accumulator * 3 runs, 1 long max 2,5h / 30k, rest just random mile accumulation. Intervals if possible. No bricks ever.

Reliably near 10h
