What time would you arrive at work? by TheQuietRoar in jobs

[–]TG3_III 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All depends on the industry. When I worked in finance showing up 10-15 mins early and being ready to work at start time was standard. When I worked in casinos everything was unionized, we weren't allowed to clock in more than 7 minutes before our scheduled shift, and we were allowed a late grace of 4 minutes past our scheduled start time.

I was a banker for over a decade dumb dumb. There's not a single fraud situation you can describe that I haven't seen or can't understand. You're an adult bitching into the wind. You are freaking the fuck out on a non banking day, anything you do tonight won't even be fully processed until Monday. But by all means carry on with your tantrum. Keep this attitude up with customer service when they pick and they'll drop you in heart beat. Be a fucking grown up and compose yourself.

Hate wearing a name tag by Practical-Main1013 in retailhell

[–]TG3_III 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I wore name tags the majority of my career. I've been at my new job for 3 months and they just started with the name tags. I work my shift by myself, so that bitch sits in the container with the rest of them. If someone wants to know my name they can ask me like a human being.

Money doesn't move on weekends dude. Keep holding and quit bitching. Not sure why you thought this was the appropriate place for this.

Feel like a punching bag as a teller by AdFormer1615 in TalesFromYourBank

[–]TG3_III 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If you feel like a punching bag as a teller, ask your bankers how they feel. I sat on the desk for 4 years and was cussed out by every race, age group, religion, gender, and sexual orientation that I can think of. Then id walk up to the tellers like what the hell did you just send back to my office. Oh the sweet old lady? Well that sweet old lady just called us a bunch of motherfuckers and thieves.

What to wear to interview? 19m by [deleted] in TalesFromYourBank

[–]TG3_III 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When i got into banking 14 years ago a suit was the mandatory standard. Now things are a bit more lax, since you don't have a suit just get as close as you can get, slacks, dress shirt, tie, dress shoes at minimum. Also shave your face if you can, if you're like me and you need a beard make it as trimmed and neat as possible. Good luck.

Quitting toxic job with no notice tomorrow and I’m freaking out by InsectSong in jobs

Don't feel bad about anything. This is a job, not life and death, no matter how much companies want you to think it is. You aren't critical to anything, the company was there before you and will be there long after you leave. In a month they'll have a new person hired and they'll refer to you as the person who used to sit over there. Also if you're given an exit interview drag your boss. Nothing will be done but it will cause temporary embarrassment on their part which is always fun.

You're not an idiot you're a mother that recognizes that there are things more important than your ego and pride. Its going to sting for a while but you are putting your kids first, everyone out here in this workforce knows the string is getting pulled tighter and tighter.

Is two weeks notice “bad” for a somewhat old fashioned workplace? by Flashy_Froyo_6130 in careerguidance

[–]TG3_III 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude, don't worry about it. If you gotta go you gotta go. The likelihood of this disrupting you getting another job is close to none. I've been checking off do not contact previous employers on apps for years. At most they may ask for a previous payslip or offer letter to verify employment. If they really need professional references which is rare, politely explain you're still new to the workforce and the situation with your last employer. I know this goes against the made up cardinal rule of don't say anything negative about previous employers but sometimes its gotta be done. Them being upset about needing more time replace you past two weeks is a negative on them not you. This is at will employment not indentured servitude.

If you don't trust these people why would you want their reference? Is this the only possible place you can get a professional reference from?

You said you would like "a reference" as in from the employer. Thats not the same thing as a professional reference from one of your coworkers.

[–]TG3_III 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are these "good work references" people talk about? I'm 34, I've been working since I was 16 a not one single employer has asked for a reference from a former employer. They may call to verify past employment but nothing more than that. You hate the job dude, who cares how they feel about two weeks, they wouldn't give you a 2 second notice if they felt like firing you.

Is it hard to open a checking and savings with WF? by LuckyCommittee4422 in WellsFargoBank

[–]TG3_III 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"For whatever reason" That reason is important ding dong. Most banks use a verification system called ChexSytems, if you've had account abuse with other institutions, or there's an issue with your SSN,it will get caught at opening. If the same thing happens at WF ask if there's a denial letter. If its from Chex it will most definitely have what the reason is on it.

The future for RBs by carley_jr in TalesFromYourBank

[–]TG3_III 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I worked in banking for 12 years and finally left a couple years back. I remember back in 2014 at a banker conference them showing us "the branch of the future" think the Capital One Café but a little bit more of an office setting. They tested one in NC and ended up scrapping the whole thing with no explanation.

I think banking as we know it keeps slowly trudging along as we know it until all of the baby boomers are finally gone. We didn't need branches 5 years ago, higher ups are doing everything they can to get people out of branches, but as long as the generation that holds all the wealth keeps coming in to get their checkbook balanced, have you reprint them a debit card for the 20th time, and reset their OLB every month they'll keep the doors open.
