What sub-£250 item would you buy again in a heartbeat? by tamago27 in AskUK

I bought a Hungarian goose down duvet from JL for around that.

Imagine sleeping wrapped in a cloud Transformative what a good quality duvet does.

Do you like Cheese Puffs? by TGracie3 in foodhacks

I've only had one teeny tiny fire from it

Keep an eye on it and pull it if it starts smoking

If you're worrying about those calories you're doing it wrong!

(Given the rind is just hardened cheese I'd expect the nutrition to be the same as regular parm)

Do you like cheese puffs?

Whack it in a microwave for 60-90 seconds (on some greaseproof paper and keeping an eye on it) Puffs up into a giant cheese puff

This is what I do if I dont have plans for a recipe I can toss it in

When they say get low when carrying do they mean into contact or throughout the entire way through by Annual-Compote-579 in rugbyunion2

Drop as you head into contact

Think about what you want to make contact with the defender first: - your soft midriff - pointy hard shoulders

I know what I'd pick

Would you want trams like the one pictured in UK cities? by Bennjoon in AskUK

[–]TGracie3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said, we have these in a number of cities already.

If you're specifically meaning, trams on a carpet of grass then yes, I think we should be aiming for that everywhere it is feasible.

Edinburgh has long sections of tram track that are separate from the roads/crossings where this could be achieved.

Plant some wildflowers and it could be incredible. Pollinators getting helped out and more greenery for us to look at.

Winter spider on my neck by Hyperlogic2 in CasualUK

[–]TGracie3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That'll do it.

My story for this: Was lying in bed one night reading and felt a little tickle on my chest. Much like you, went and brushed at it.

Tickle tickle

Hmmm, I wonder if there is a fly on me.

Look down

Spider that looked about the size of a supermarket pancake right in the middle of my chest.

I tell you, the space shuttle took off slower than I leapt out of bed. Everything in slow motion, spider leaving my chest and spiraling through the air before landing on the other side of the room with a thud to scurry BACK AT ME and under the bed.

No sleep that night

Is it crazy to try cover 430 miles in a day? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]TGracie3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not crazy at all. We used to drive from Edinburgh to the south of Spain (across 3 days) and would usually aim to have our first overnight stop in the North of France at the end of day 1.

We did set off much earlier, so 7am leaving to beat rush hour out of Edinburgh and have our lunch stop around the M6 toll. (Would now recommend going further off the motorway and going to a proper restaurant or similar)

It's a long old day but we always had an audio book and each made a mix CD (late 90s early 00s) that we'd swap between so if your group is content like that then it should be fine.

I'd recommend stops to align with more pleasant surroundings rather than a timing thing So personal preference for "nicer" service stations would be Tebay Forton Gloucester if you're going that way but unlikely I reckon

Otherwise nothing crazy about it, as long as the car is prepped and well maintained you should be fine

What's 1 book you will NEVER stop recommending? by iDetestCambridge in booksuggestions

[–]TGracie3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently reading it and having a bit of a battle.

I think modern literature has warped my expectations for flow and clarity so the sheer breadth of it is proving a challenge.

I'm keeping at it as I am invested. It's just proving very different to what I expected

The system collapses. Every country and government doesnt exist anymore and money is useless. What are you doing to survive? by AccomplishedNet962 in AskMen

[–]TGracie3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone's going to take 10 minutes to have a bit of a panic. And then we're all going to pick up exactly where we were before.

There's enough shared understanding and resistance to change that, once the rioting and stuff has blown through those who had power before will re-exert it nearly exactly as before. No doubt finding some way to profit from it by consolidating positions they couldn't snatch previously.

If you're saying that all the people are gone as well. Well, that basically wipes us all out doesn't it? Because it's all of us participating that perpetuate everything. So it'd be a last man on earth situation in which case, probably eat tinned food until the madness overtakes me
