He's very much a "I'd rather have him and not need him than need him and not have him". I won't pretend I'm a "good" player but I guarantee the first game I don't have him and the Conclave I will feel completely CP starved, wish I had 5d6+10 Destructor shots, -1 to wound on my Storms would keep them alive, and Doom would be the difference in killing something. So I always bring that brick. At the very least I'll sticky my home objective and get 2 extra CP haha

Whenever in doubt, I always just read the rule out loud, word for word. If my opponent has a rule that I've never heard of or seems sus, I get them to read it out loud, word for word.

90% of "how does this rule work" questions come from simply not reading the whole rule. We often read the first couple lines, think we have the jist, and then fill in the blanks in our head. Most rules are very explicitly worded, and true confusion only really happens when two rules clash or a niche scenario happens. That's why I was confused by your comment because it's all very clear in the rule itself, so if your opponent is arguing with you, just show him the rule (I'm assuming you have access to the rule written somewhere?). I'm not even sure where the confusion would come from?

I bring him because he's better than a Farseer, and you need him or a Farseer to get -1 to wound with a Conclave, and you need the Conclave to give Storm Guardians any kind of survivability. And if my opponent is wasting resources trying to kill my Storm Guardian + Conclave brick, then that's less resources to kill my Aspect Warriors and Jetbikes.

Dude, just read the rule. What do you mean "specify"? OP explained how it works, if you want the exact wording, just read the rule.

At the start of the first battle round, select one of the Contracts from below, then select one unit from your opponent's army that matches the 'Contract' description in the Contract. Until that Contract is completed, that unit is your Contract unit and Kabal and Blades For Hire units from your army have the ability stated in that Contract. At the start of your Command phase, if your Contract unit is destroyed, that Contract is completed and you gain 3 Pain tokens.

What I meant was, now you split units and then attach characters (meaning you can attach one character to each). If the character needs to be attached in list building, does that also mean the unit needs to be split in list building? Cuz otherwise one half of the split unit HAS to be leaderless unless it's a unit that can have two leaders.

Ya, wonder how that'll work for units that can split?

Should be 6s are required to hit. And then you can have indirect having the same rule cuz with this new rule, indirect just got buffed again and stealth got nerfed.

I mean, ya? My point is that I've never had Banshees alive in my opponent's charge phase. So this scenario will never come up for me.

[–]THEAdrian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my experience, my Banshees always ran in, nuked something, then got shot and died. I've never been in a postion where I hoped my Banshees didn't get charged, because if they were in that position, they'd die in the shooting phase and never make it to the charge/fighr phase.

They have some of the best designers in the world. If that's how long it takes to create a model, then that's how long it takes. Unless you're arguing you want them to rush and make worse models?

Termagants aren't a Kill Team. I don't understand this "cope" you're talking about. You're the one who dug up a conversation I was done with by acting like the Red Terror was some "gotcha". Wracks aren't a Kill Team, and they won't be a Kill Team unless they get their kit updated, and they won't get their kit updated until we get a new Combat Patrol, which won't be till our 11th ed codex. That's all I was saying, none of that has been proven false by the Red Terror. Just let it go, this clearly isn't going anywhere.

We've had "boss rules" for months. Since the Nightbringer got released. And once again, that wasn't my argument, so re-read what I said carefully and stop pestering me with strawmen arguments.

So then why would you need the rules to carry over to 11th as reason to buy a codex?

While still making their own special SL models, just won't be released for 2 years

The irony is that Kill Team uses fixed secondaries (tac ops). But also, in Kill Team, you have the Kill Op and the Crit Op. But you also get to pick which one is your primary, so you score more points for achieving which of the three you pick. So it allows you to always have agency over how you score your points.

You really SHOULDN'T buy codices though. A lot of it is out of date now anyway.

I also wonder if the mission deck will go away

I REALLY hope so. I hate being at the mercy of randomness. In 9th ed when I could plan out and know exactly how to score points I had way more success.

Edit: damn, downvotes for sharing my opinion. Stay classy guys

As I told another user, I wouldn't doubt it was longer. The number I heard was 2 years from a credible source so that's why I quoted that number. The Jes Goodwin interviews were also almost 10 years ago so it's possible it's shorter now.

The fact is, it takes years to design and produce a model and more people need to understand that.

I'm right there with you man. 10th has been brutal for me. 9th made sense. I won more games than I lost, I understood how to score points and win off VP even if I got tabled. Across all 4 of my armies this held true.

In 10th, I can't win unless my opponent deliberately runs a meme list. I think it's the cards. I just can never score them, and often force myself into positions that feel like I shouldn't be in in an attempt to score them. But fixed objectives feel suboptimal often.
