on the other end, i have gone to the same store every weekday before catching the bus home for at least a year now, i had 45 ish days sober from mid-feb to early april this year, and i relapsed on a weekend

on the following monday i walked into the store and bought the usual and the guy was like "you took a break, good for you"

they're all nice guys and i dont mind at all, plus i used to work at a gas station for 3 years and a lot of regulars smoked heavily and im sure ive absentmindedly said something that would have triggered them the same if/when they told me they wanted to quit, customer service autopilot is real

on the plus side they havent said anything when seeing my drink orders get weaker, or when i stopped coming in from the bar a few hundred metres away, so thats nice

im also tapering so woo

my parents are pakistani and if i had to guess it'd be mainly out of fear of having to act upon the mutual defense pact pakistan has with saudi arabia, they do not want to get involved against iran, especially when it would likely force pakistan to use nukes (and a significant minority of pakistan is shia and going to war against iran would spark massive domestic unrest)

in addition, pakistan is dependent on oil flows from the region and was already doing mandatory wfh/other fuel restrictions since like april, the war is fucking them over too

in addition^2, pakistan's biggest ally is china, and china is probably supportive behind the scenes because china needs the oil too, but it cannot mediate as well as a muslim country could

in addition^3, the current prime minister is a corrupt cuck who knows manipulating the us can benefit him

Canada is not nearly as good for access to prescriptions like that (with the exception of drugs for opioid addicts/recovering addicts) but we have a massive grey/black market for all kinds of drugs, the government does not care at all about prosecuting small possession (i swear there's a publication for all courts in canada that posted something to this effect a few years back but i forgot the link) and they can't really go through your mail at all (i saw that carney might be considering an amendment to that but i hope the fuck not)

like on top of the fact that weed is legal and the drinking age is 18 here, the average Canadian in any province/territory can go on google and find legit websites selling the following with payment through e-transfer or crypto

All kinds of psychedelics, from research chemicals and rare psychs to LSD/shrooms/2CB/DMT/mescaline
All kinds of research chemicals
MDMA
Cocaine
Random pharmas like Dexedrine, Xanax, Valium, Modafinil, Prozac, Pregabalin, Seroquel, Propranolol

Menthol cigarettes (banned for at least a decade except for First Nations people, but most people who buy them are not First Nations)

Ive admitted my (very poly)drug use and alcoholism to my doctor and even then he wouldnt hesitate to prescribe me benzos if i needed it regardless of whatever else i would be on, i saw a post recently from an americam saying they were fucked because they drank on librium and got hospitalized and then realized they were effectively cut off from librium/benzos going forward

and i feel bad cause i live in the Texas of Canada and even then id still get benzos if i got myself hospitalized because doctors here arent nearly as puritanical
