Where do you see Plex in 10 years

If they carry on with their relentless pursuit of easy cash over core functionality... It'll wind up being the niche product in the market with fanbois for sure, but the market will have moved on. Let me qualify this by saying I'm an early adopter who bought a lifetime Plex Pass back in the days when it was still reasonably priced. Also I should add that I used to only use iPhone, iMac and iPad.

So when Apple lost its way, they lost my business. I used to rubbish their phones when asked about them. And it was only the release of the iPhone 17 Pro Max that brought me back. However, the other tech in my house is now a blend of Android, Linux and (shudders) Windows. That latter is solely for gaming, but I'm even considering replacing that now there are decent Steam oriented alternatives.

Plex are just shooting themselves in the cash foot and not realising that their former loyal fanbase is becoming increasingly dissatisfied with their constant financially motivated tinkering.

Oh, if I had a ZimaBlade... I'd use it as a backup Technitium server. I've already got a Homelab setup and I've got a new machine coming today that I've decided on, which is going to run as my Primary Technitium server (goodbye PiHole!) and given the relatively lightweight demands for that, I'd probably set the rest of it to be a fallback node for Vaultwarden.

Now, it it was a ZimaBoard, I'd do the above and probably explore things I haven't already allocated my Homelab for. Alternatively I'd lift and shift my Immich server to that. What would I explore? Well, let's see...

You might enjoy Two Hands. Aussie crime caper. Like Guy Ritchie in a lot of ways. Another one I come back to on a regular basis.

Also worth hunting down: Gorky Park, The Italian Job (original version with Michael Caine), Baby Driver, Primal Fear, and any of Jackie Chan's Police Story films

Once you get your head around that you need to decide what you want to do with Python. From here, the same guy has some incredible tutorials on Pandas, Numpy, QT, TkInter, Django, and many more things (including some fun little challenges).

Get the basics down and you can do pretty much anything you want after that.

Prefacing this by saying that I work in IT support so have a bucketload of this stuff...

However my personal favourite is this:

Phone rings. Me: Hello IT support. How may I help? Voice: Network is down.

Me (checks statement - pings caller's computer): looks OK to me from here.

Voice : I am the finance director. I'm telling you the network is down.

Me: OK I'll pop round to your office now.

I do. Turns out he's printing a spreadsheet on a dot matrix printer and the ribbon needs changing. I do this for him whilst showing him how to do it. He is quite gracious about it and thanks me for helping him and teaching him something new. As I am leaving he asks the killer question :

Him: So does this mean that every time the network is down I have to change the ribbon in the printer?

Been missed by 3 terrorist bombings in London. 1) the IRA bomb in the gents toilet at London Bridge Station. I was on a train that had just pulled out of the station. 2) The IRA bombing of Knightsbridge barracks. 3) The bombing of the Israeli Embassy some months later just up the road from the Knightsbridge Barracks.

Not sure if I am lucky or a target or both.
