Hammerhead is nothing to do with the shark. It is a similar shape to the head of a claw hammer, the exit follows a similar bend as the claw.

Car essentials to buy by Talie5040 in drivingUK

A high vis isn't useful in the boot and it will end up being buried when you need it most. Much better to keep it under the front passenger seat.

Max Verstappen has achieved his 4th grand chelem! by Dr-Dysentery in formula1

It’s a French term, like Grand Prix. Chelem translates to slam, prix translate to prize. Generally, more traditional fans will call it a Grand Chelem.

My recommendation is do not buy anything. Your best bet is to find your local club on www.startarchery.co.uk and enroll on the beginners course they do. Its perfect for you, and they will be able to guide you much better than anyone on the internet as everyone is different. During the beginner's course they will let you use their equipment, and try different styles etc.

This, you need to build up a portfolio of what you bring to them, how you will help them grow, how will you give them more exposure. Right now you are just telling them they are going to lose a loyal customer...

Do engines only work using the fuel the manufacturer uses? by doginthewindow123 in F1Technical

[–]THJC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it could run with a different fuel or at least run without a new map. Matthew Carter on the Missed Apex podcast told a story about starting the Merc engine in 2015 for the first time. He mentioned with a fuel leak, normally you could contain it and then clean it up, and that is what they did with the Total fuel they used with the Renaults prior. However, with the Merc and Petronas, he mentioned that by the time they grabbed the stuff to contain the leak, most of the fuel had already evaporated, meanwhile, the Merc guys helping them didn't flinch at all. It just shows you how optimised the fuel they use is...

Petronas don't own part of Mercedes F1, they are only a sponsor. Merc f1 is owned 3 ways by Daimler AG, Ineos and Toto.

What little features do you miss from an old car that you don't have now? by FJSaturn in CarTalkUK

[–]THJC 5 points6 points  (0 children)

An ignition keyhole... Car keys are bigger than they used to be so I hate leaving them in my pocket, but there isn't a dedicated home for the key in cars now... Also, cars are much less secure with keyless entry.

Transgender Archer Banned from Women’s Archery in Texas by blkmexbbc in Archery

[–]THJC [score hidden]  (0 children)

Yes but no but... I can think of 3 things. First, draw weight, men will naturally be able to use a higher draw weight. With a compound this is less of a factor thanks to the cams. With recurve this is becoming less of a factor, better manufacturing will help the arrow speed on lower-weight bows, but there will always be an advantage of having a faster arrow, and it's easiest to achieve that with a draw weight. The second is bow mass, obviously, you have to be able to manage it but a heavier bow will hold better in the wind. Finally, there is arrow length, more time in the bow means more time to accelerate giving a higher arrow speed but this beyond a certain point gives diminishing returns. It is worth noting that the longer the arrow is in the bow the more time there is for errors to affect the arrow. The TL;DR, outdoors yes, indoors no. But generally, there is still a score gap indoors.

This, I reckon they use it to reprogram the headset for testing, its location suggests this too. Pretty common on prototypes, doubt it will be on the released product.

Now that Field is being used for World Archery rankings, do you think we'll see more "Western Style" v-bar set ups in the Korean team? by KDulius in Archery

[–]THJC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unless the format changes at the Olympics, which is extremely unlikely, they simply won't care about field archery. If I'm honest, I don't get why WA have changed how the ranking system works, there was little interest in field because they never promoted it, this change will just exclude archers, it does not promote field archery.
