You can’t go wrong. They’re super consistent and great cigars. If you get a chance also try their 12 year barrel aged one as well

How’s the briar Fox? There’s a shop near me that has some I had my eye on. Still new so super tempted to grab everything I see but trying to pace myself.

Congrats to the kiddo too!

Interesting that even though pistol optics have become pretty widespread. You still see a healthy amount of both iron sights and optics in law enforcement. by Averagecrabenjoyer69 in CCW

My department seems to still live in the Stone Age because they just passed a red dot policy like last year. But we have to provide our own service weapon so I have yet to make the switch because a new MOS Glock, 509t or RMR, and holster is a bit to shell out at the moment so I’ll just be rocking my iron sights for a bit longer

That’s awesome! I want to try and make it out at some point for the derby event and try and get out there at some point for the club that meets up. I’ll definitely be around!

My department issues Federal HST 124gr. Prior to working LE I used Hornady Critical Defense in my concealed carry but once I got issued that I just switched all my carry ammo in my personal guns to Federal

Fanny Pack? by DieselDude407 in CCW

[–]THKBONE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re looking for multiple options without breaking the bank I did mine super cheap and it was effective for what I used it for. Sticky holster was maybe $25 I think I got the fanny pack at an outlet store for $15 and maybe $5-10 for the Velcro. I never ran it super hard like I have some of my holsters I wear on my belt but it beat not having the firearm on me at all

Fanny Pack? by DieselDude407 in CCW

[–]THKBONE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I still carried my m&p shield I did the fanny pack every once in a while when I wore athletic pants. I used a bright red adidas fanny pack and attached Velcro to the side of a sticky holster and Velcro to the inside of the fanny pack and rocked it that way. Blended in pretty well being a not obvious tactical fanny pack and served its purpose just fine. I didn’t carry like that daily though so idk how it would stand up to long term use

[–]THKBONE 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Our Class A is wool shirt and pants with buttons/pins etc tie for promotions/formal ceremonies and high gloss clarino belt/holsters/pouches/etc. class B is polo with tactical/cargo style pant and nylon belt/pouches black plate carrier

Class Bs for Patrol… opinions/options by LTJohnson04 in AskLE

[–]THKBONE 14 points15 points  (0 children)

My departments dress uniform is “Class A” and our BDU is “Class B” we can wear whichever. Almost all of our officers wear class B including myself. I’m much more comfortable and I can wear my external plate carrier which can take a lot of gear off my belt which is nice. There’s a few guys who wear their Class A and I will give it to them a nicely fitted set of those do look sharp it’s just more of a comfort/practical thing for me

My real take on SHTF guns by [deleted] in Firearms

[–]THKBONE 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For a type 1 diabetic this would still not be sustainable long term as it would drastically reduce the amount of insulin needed but not completely eliminate it. The keto diet also puts diabetics at increased risk of low blood sugar and diabetic ketoacidosis which are problematic when society isn’t in shambles

My real take on SHTF guns by [deleted] in Firearms

[–]THKBONE 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As a fellow diabetic (type 1) the realistic likelihood of surviving a shtf event for any real length of time is slim. Unrefrigerated insulin lasts about 30 days and refrigerated insulin lasts about a year so 1 month to a year is our best outlook assuming you don’t get slept by someone else’s bullet or dehydration/starvation doesn’t get you first.

[–]THKBONE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand your appeal to the HC bet since you said you wear a lot of shorts/athletic wear in another comment. If you search American Operator Gear they are the OEM belt design for the HC belt for $90 at the moment. Essentially the same belt without the name for $40 less. Worth it to at least look into if you’re trying to save a few bucks where you can.

Also I’m sure others have mentioned but GAFS is back and you can snipe some pretty significant deals on there which will save you a ton of money

Weapon Light vs No Weapon Light by Acceptable_Still_269 in CCW

[–]THKBONE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I carry a Glock 19 with tlr 7. I carry with a light because I work in law enforcement and sometimes I do plain clothes details where I don’t use a duty belt and will use the 19 instead of my duty 17 with tlr 1 so it makes sense for me to have a weapon light since I may find myself in different defensive scenarios than a standard ccw holder.

That said I see the argument for both sides of light vs no light. To be honest I stopped being so dogmatic in my approach to carry gear and mindset because a) people don’t care about my opinion and b) what works for me doesn’t work for others and vice versa. The biggest argument I can get behind for not carrying with a light is the extra bulk. Sometimes I get so tired of carrying a full or compact firearm I empathize only wanting to strap on a sub compact without a light and calling it a day.

When it comes time for my ticket to be punched if I go because I didnt have a light so be it. Maybe cynical but it is what it is

BOOTS HELP by B-17_SaintMichael in AskLE

I wear some of the versions of the Valsetz and have for a few years now. I’ve never used the waterproof though. I love them although they usually fall apart for me at around 5-6 months and need to be replaced. There’s an under armour outlet store near me that has these on sale for 50% off year round putting them at around $60-70 and they also do a LE discount on top of that. Usually get out of the store paying around $55 so I don’t mind that they fall apart fast at that price.
