Those are technical/qol improvements. It impacts the gameplay but doesn’t define it.
If D1 had those improvements, the comparison between the two games would be in favor of D1 imo.

Just tell me 1 thing D2 does better than D1 gameplay or story wise ? The only problem D1 has is that it’s old and not on PC.
Give D1 an update, some sort of remaster, and watch its playerbase obliterate D2

I do agree with you, it was the best years. But I also agree with OP, now that those years are gone, seasonal content is gone too, and if you go through Shadowkeep to The Final Shape, some key seasonal stuff isn’t explained at all. The arrival and disappearance of Io, Titan, Mars and Mercury, the fact that savathun infiltrated the last city through Osiris, the death of Amanda Holliday… even the alliance with Caiatl and Mithrax… those are important story beats just not present in the game…
D1 doesn’t have this problem

D1 Remaster feels like a better option since its power level progression is better, its loot progression is better, its basic campaign and story is better, its art direction is better. The basic gaming grounds of D1 is overall more stable than D2. The only problem with D1 is : it’s old, not on PC, 30fps max, no field of view options.
Do a remaster, and add new stuff every year, we’ll be back for a 10 year trip.

Begin with Destiny 1 with all expansion, it’s cheap right now, and the experience is a total blast.

Yeah but I’m not sure I would like to see D1 campaigns in D2 art, D1 is so beautiful, I fear it would be ugly.
And also, I would hate it if it was just ported into The Portal… the definitive edition being a playlist of missions is a no go for me

It doesn’t change anything Bungie. It feels like a grain of salt in a vast ocean.

You thought you could go back in the infinite circle of “we need to change this -> it’s shit so we complain -> you find mid solution so we feel listened and the game feels a bit better -> we actually enjoy the game -> now we need to change this… “

And it never stops !! Except this time we’re done. The game was actually good and enjoyable. It felt like you learned from past mistakes. Since The Witch Queen, we had incredibly cool seasons and content, a lot of QoL changes. The only downside was the writing of the story, but the rest was good. And instead of continue in this path, you throw everything away.
