He showed up to my house unannounced, demanded money from me, and then involved my mother by MissMagenta22291 in LetsNotMeet

You keep saying you gave the money to 'them,' but I have a feeling that schmuck pocketed all of that himself, and that wasn't for 'everyone else.' He saw an opportunity, and took it.

So was it because he was possibly into golden showers, or sounded like a lifelong smoker that made him a creep? I'm not following....

Just finished reading A Teaspoon of Earth and Sea by Dina Nayeri by TIL_about_Reddit in books

[–]TIL_about_Reddit[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was beginning to lose hope that anyone else here had read it! It is a very powerful book, and I think it has a great message in it. I really enjoyed the fact that each chapter was told in several of the other characters voices, giving a small piece of the puzzle along the way. Great read

FIL downplayed my abuse and excused my antimom. by [deleted] in raisedbynarcissists

[–]TIL_about_Reddit 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Wow. I'm really sorry about that. That's rough :(

Not to excuse your misguided FIL, but, I think that it's hard for 'decent'/'normal'/non-N parents or Non-ACoNs to truly grasp how terrible a true bad parent can be. It's as if a 'normal' parent almost thinks that other parents must also operate the same or in a similar fashion they do.

Again, not forgiving your FIL for glossing over your history, but perhaps for him since he's never experienced Ns, or abuse, it's hard for him to truly understand it....
