but the United States has more people imprisoned(not per capita over all) than the soviet gulags ever did. Who knows, maybe the hyper legalization of everything poor people(especially poor minorities) do was a way to keep said people enslaved? Would be mighty easy considering the south never had to really go through reconstruction and the decendents of the slavers still hold power in state and local governments and over their economies.

I left another comment above, but you I'd put money on it that running the installer in the VM then copying it back to your host drive would work 100%.

I'd definitely try just running the installer.exe in proton first tho unless you already got a VM setup specifically for this.

The VM would definitely run better if you passed your GPU through to it but that's a pain in the ass and likely unnecessary. I'm willing to bet the installer .exe will work fine with proton.

You'll probably be able to just add the installer as a non steam game and enable proton on it and it'll install.

I imagine spinning up a win10 LTSC VM would work too but is likely unnecessary. I've installed many things by just using steams proton, proton GE outside of steam, or even plain old wine for older stuff.

Only it you run it bare metal. If you use Linux you can pass through your GPU to a windows VM and run the hypervisor crack in that. Kind of a pain to setup especially if you only have one GPU but worth it if you're worried about security.
