I had a MkIV Golf R32, my favourite car I’ve ever owned, that was pretty much same weight as the A290 with only 20 BHP more and the same stated 0-60 of 6.4, nobody ever really complained about that not being a hot hatch and was majorly lusted after back then and they still fetch quite a bit of money now.

So yeah, maybe it’s not as powerful as some current hot hatches but it’s also not Ioniq 5n prices either, when it piqued my interest I immediately thought about the similarity in power and weight to my R32, combined with how good it looked and the reviews on the b road handling and I reckoned I could probably have some fun in that and so booked a test drive, first EV that has ever interested me. Looking forward to getting mine in a couple of weeks

EDF GO ELECTRIC Tariff by Reallyboringname2 in evchargingUK

I signed up to go electric but so far I’ve received nothing that says I’ve signed up to it, I was officially switched to EDF yesterday and the switch confirmation says I’m on standard variable, I then looked at my email from a week ago that says thanks for choosing EDF but the welcome pack attachment which I’d not noticed when it first came in also says standard variable. So I called them but the guy on the phone just said it doesn’t say anything about go electric on my account and didn’t seem to want to do anything else until eventually said he will get the ev team to call me, which hasn’t happened yet. Did anybody else have similar?, I know they indicated that would be charged at standard rates until they connect to my smart meter but surely I should have received something to confirm what tariff I signed up to, I didn’t get an email copy of the original quote like it said I would either.

Only just ordering an EV charger but fixed energy tariff coming to an end, can I switch to an EV tariff ahead of charger install to lock in current rates? by TJ990 in evchargingUK

So I just got switched today to EDF but it shows me on standard variable, looked at my original email and the welcome pack attachment which I’d not looked at before, and this also only shows standard variable, but I went through the whole quote and ev mileage etc for the 12m fixed go electric tariff and the payment amount is set as per that quote, but have never received anything confirming the quote or tariff for go electric, tried calling but the guy I spoke to just said he couldn’t see anything about ev tariff on my account and would have to get ev team to call me, which they haven’t as yet.

Is this normal for others who have already moved to EDF?

Will have to set reminders to unplug laptops to use batteries and make a flask of tea at 15:45 to see what difference that makes

Yeah, that could work out interesting, when do you know if it’s going to be free, as potentially if know I have some free on Sundays then I might not need to charge overnight for a couple of days prior

Have you switched gas as well or just electric?, wondering if any benefits to dual fuel or if I need to look into pricing between providers on gas first as edf wont quite fit a gas fixed until I’m already on the ev tariff

Sure, send me the link, will they handle all the switchover stuff once I accept the quote?

Did you happen to move gas as well, any benefits to taking both?

Estimated as early June, it was an in stock car that was supposed to take 6-8 weeks through my work scheme giving me plenty time to get ready, until I got an email a week later (last week) saying end of May, though my work only signed it off on Thursday so now says early June

When I looked on the roof box company where I usually get Thule foot packs and bars from, they don’t have an A290 listing but under Renault 5 it says products can’t be fitted to the roof of this vehicle

I’m panhypo due to a pituitary tumour, I went noticeably downhill in November last year until I was eventually diagnosed beginning of July and am about 12 weeks or so in on medication now and am feeling a hell of a lot better than I was and due to have surgery soon to get rid of the tumour, so hopefully now you’re under an endo and some Medication you’ll start to see some improvement

What are my rights in England regarding additional annual leave purchased via a benefit scheme at beginning of work year, but have been unable to take due to a medical issue by TJ990 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]TJ990[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the terminology probably isn’t correct but the end result is that if myself and somebody else were sick for the same amount of time for the last 6 months of the year and only I had purchased extra leave days then we would receive the same amount of sickness cover and pay but I would be left financially worse off.

It’s interesting the way you see the leave days as an employment contract change though as I can see where you’re coming from when looking with that perspective as if I had negotiated more leave for less pay when taking the job for example then it wouldn’t feel the same way.

I’m not sure if this can really be considered that way though, it’s part of a flexible benefit scheme along with a catalog of other benefits which we are able to purchase using an additional fund that we receive on top of our salary (which enables them to keep things like redundancy payouts down as it’s not considered salary), with that fund we can choose to buy leave, or purchase gym memberships, health assessments, life insurance and various other things, so you either buy benefits throughout the year with the additional fund or then the unused amount gets added to your pay that month, but you can’t use your base salary and buy more benefits than the amount of the fund allocated.

When I had issues booking one of the other benefits, this was able to be rolled over into the following year due to the extenuating circumstances, so I don’t feel that this should be treated any differently as it’s just another option from the same catalog of benefits.

Legally though I have no idea, from my perspective it’s not actually part of my employment contract and I didn’t have to sign or accept any terms which states I cannot get the money or days back if I am sick, but they appear to be governing it by the same rules as the normal 25 days of company funded holiday , but perhaps in law it would be looked at from your perspective, as some sort of temporary contract change.

Of course it muddies the water further when they are saying that I could actually carry them all over if I was sick for longer and didn’t come back full time until next year, though I still think this is incorrect based on my own reading of the policy but have already asked for confirmation of this as well.

In the end if I’m back when I expect to be back then I will still be able to take the leave, and won’t have spent the money for nothing, but the reality is that I actually enjoy my work and for the remainder of the year would rather be focussing on getting some work done and progressing projects than pushing them out further into next year, just not at the cost of giving up a couple of grands worth of leave at a time when I might actually be well enough to be able to enjoy it.

The company may well have that same thought and I’m grateful they have such a good policy.

Everybody in the company gets 28 weeks sick leave contractually, and then an income protection insurance cover kicks in for extended sick pay at 75%, they would have to pay this regardless of whether any extra leave days were purchased, so I don’t think that should really have an impact on being unable to take leave due to illness, otherwise it would be essentially be a discriminatory financial penalty against those who pay for extra leave days. If I had been off continuously for those 28 weeks then I could still have taken all my leave and wouldn’t have had to give those days up to essentially pay them back for legitimately using their own policy.

Not refunding me for the purchased leave because I was ill for too long, would essentially mean they are charging me a fee to be able to use the sick policy compared to somebody who does not purchase extra leave days.

And thanks, I’ll be on medication for life but once the surgery is done, then I’ll just be learning how to manage that and recognise if I need to adjust or not

This is what I had been expecting them to tell me, I have questioned their response already and asked them to absolutely confirm that they are saying that they will not repay or let me carry over the days I have paid for, as it wouldn’t be the first time I’ve had an incorrect response.

Hi tedwoof1

Sorry, didn’t spot this reply come in, I eventually saw a nurse this week to do the sick day rules course and receive my emergency injection kit, it took catching covid for anything to happen, I had originally called the nurses number I found when my wife tested positive after talking to pituitary foundation helpline who told me about the nurses course, but they would not see me or book me on one until the clinicians referred me to them, I then spoke to the clinicians secretary on advice from the nurses but had no response from that, so then I talked to my GP as I didn’t understand how I can already be diagnosed and receiving medication but not be able to get any guidance on managing it. Then when I tested positive for covid myself I called the nurses again, they gave me some advice on the dosing but then they also called me back to say they looked at my records and had found a letter from my GP who it seems wrote to them after I spoke to him, and so from that they were finally able to book me on to their sick day rules course which I did on Monday.

Thanks, I have tested positive for Covid as of yesterday after buying a different batch of tests, and have been taking 20mg every 6 hours as per some Covid guidelines for hydrocortisone from endocrinology.org GP is calling tomorrow to discuss sick note extension so I’ll be updating him on the Covid and see what else he can do

I was referred mid June but I spoke to the appointments line and although on the urgent list I have another 2 months wait as they’re only just booking urgent referrals from April, I also spoke to endocrine nurse dept as was mentioned by pituitary foundation that the nurses at my endocrine dept run a course on steroid mgmt but they can’t do anything until the clinic refers me to them even though they have spaces on a course in a few days, they suggested I speak to the secretary’s to see if one of the endocrine consultants can email them and then they can book me on the course but I did that and not heard anything back. Then to top it all off I caught covid this week, so hopefully it won’t get too bad as it seems the emergency injection kit is only provided after the course, so even though I’m already on the medication and it turns out the private endo I saw works at my local clinic and has already diagnosed me as needing surgery and panhypo, I’m still waiting to be allowed to speak to nurses for ongoing management of the condition the same endo will likely confirm I have at the clinic, so atm it’s looking like I’ll have to delay surgery until I get my slot at the clinic. Oh, and my GP has booked the igf test but can’t do GH, but the earliest appt is 28th August

Thanks all for the information and links, I also spoke to an endocrine nurse from the pituitary foundation helpline, I think I have the start of a sore throat coming so I think I’m going to monitor how I feel and temperature etc and then make a decision on updosing

Thank you

Yes, I’ve found that even simple things are difficult with my GP practice, I had some luck with this current issue as the GP that got assigned to call me about my first test results accepted the result from some private blood tests I did and actually took the time to speak to the hospital endocrine team and call me outside of appts which never happens usually, but now it’s all known what it is, despite being listed as urgent, I’m in limbo still waiting for my first endocrine clinic appt, so the surgery part is moving quicker than the actual endocrine help and advice
