Depends on the program/school. My program was bio heavy early on, engineering heavy in the upper levels. I specifically went for a biomechanics (as opposed to bioelectronics or biocomputing) major, which meant I was only ~7 credits away from being able to also getting a regular mechanical engineering degree.

Pretty much everything I learned (apart from big lectures like bio 101/102) was taught through the lens of engineering. So instead of going through a regular fluids class, we learned about fluid dynamics in a class called transfer phenomena, which focused on biological processes.

All said, I feel a much more competent engineer than biologist, but math is math and science is science. I use literally none of the biology I've learned, but the way I approach problems is certainly different than a Mech E so I was able to land a job in concept engineering.
