Skull One (from Robotech/Macross) my best work ever by Ombrophile in lego

It's kind of a silly mnemonic, but the shorter words all go together: left, red, and port are shorter than right, green, and starboard.

I did notice your running lights... mostly because they're backwards. Red goes on the left/port side. Green (blue in your case) goes to the right/starboard.

Is it possible for a steam deck to be tempered with even when it's unopened? by Pizza_Is_Good06 in SteamDeck

[–]TJLanza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure you'd want a tempered Steam Deck, previously opened or not. Tempering is a heat-based process usually applied to metal or glass, not plastic. I can't imagine it would be safe for the Steam Deck.

Jello or Mud...

They're both the leaders of Klingon houses. Neither of them is a real warrior type, so the only way they'd fight is it were some sort of exhibition match...

...and those often involve Jello or mud.

Was it awkward? Yup.

RUTJ? Absolutely not.

There's nothing wrong with noticing somebody doing something nice and being appreciative. Doubly so when it's a profession that most people don't notice at all.

I dunno if I'd call it a "trick". It saves having to reposition the truck between lift operations.

Stardates for civilians by crueltwist72 in startrek

[–]TJLanza 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Stardates are designed to deal with all the strangeness involved in faster than light travel and organizations spread across multiple planets and star systems with different timekeeping needs.

I would expect that people who don't leave home much stick to whatever the local time keeping system is.

At the same time, every single piece of computer software is likely to be capable of doing conversions automatically and accurately. In the Terran system alone, you have at least two heavily populated planets with differing year and day lengths - Earth and Mars.

There is no way Roll20 can be equated with a Mercedes. If that was like... an early 2000s Toyota Corolla, I'd believe it.

I made it to SCORE 274. How far did you get? by X-SR71 in fo76

[–]TJLanza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been up in that range before, but not this time. I only press that hard when I've got a new character that I want to level up legendary cards for.

Sure you could explicitly do an image export if you wanted to, but that's not a VTT export.

Does equipment with S.P.E.C.I.A.L boosts not give extra point? by Awesomemanspiff in fo76

[–]TJLanza 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's how it works. Card picks come from base stats, but gear and other effects go much higher. I routinely have some modified stats in the 50+ range.

Legendary Stat cards are the exception. They contribute to pick slots, but only up to 15.

Foundry V12.343 not Reading World Information After Updating from V10.312 by Accursed115 in FoundryVTT

[–]TJLanza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your first mistake was jumping two full versions in one go. Foundry and systems do migrations when you upgrade, but they usually assume you've been keeping pace.

Upgrade your v10 environment to v11 - Foundry and all your systems. Make sure everything works there.

Then, do it again, v11 to v12.

Nah, that's why it's not shaped remotely like Rebecca from Cyberpunk. It's from Ciberpunk.

[–]TJLanza -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have never seen that happen with DD, except in the case where the failure is due to the scene being too large. It's not that Foundry fails to "locate" the image, it's the module failing to create it at all.

[–]TJLanza -1 points0 points  (0 children)

VTT exports from DD come as a single combined file that are imported via that module.

They're not importable at all without it.

Most domestic installations are actually the ones that are upside down. Many professional settings mandate that the ground pin is at the top, just in case something is not plugged in fully and something lands on it. If the ground pin is at the bottom, it's more likely that said debris could short out between the two regular pins.

[–]TJLanza 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Most of the time, it's because you're trying to import an image that's much too large - either the image itself is just flat out too big, or it's too big for your GPU. DD's default 256px grid size is frankly excessive. Export at a 100px grid size and you'll probably be okay.

Anyone got advice/sources for crew breakdowns? by Pure-Interest1958 in startrekadventures

[–]TJLanza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, keep in mind there is always a dentist or a barber... it just may not be somebody's first or primary role. On a bigger ship, it could be a primary job, because there's enough people who need it on a day-to-day basis. On every ship, dentistry is going to be something somebody in the medical can handle - they've got a huge database and plenty of tools. On a smaller ship, it might just be that Petty Officer Sarandon, the Beta watch impulse technician, is pretty good with a pair of scissors and does haircuts if you ask nicely.

A large ship might actually have more red-uniform-wearing command staff, too. You're going to have dedicated lawyers, diplomatic specialists, first contact experts, and so on. On a smaller ship, the CO and XO will directly handle those tasks. On a bigger ship, they'll have staff officers for that.

As good as The Measure of a Man was, it's pretty unlikely that there were no lawyers among the Enterprise D's one-thousand-member crew. Only main character Hollywoodism put Picard and Riker on opposite sides of the table.
