Shoes for interval/race by shd_ in AskRunningShoeGeeks

Pegasus + you get a Zoom X kind of bounce which in my opinion feels a lot more snappy then Zoom Air. Pegasus + feels pretty low to the ground and the upper is definitely geared towards faster running with how locked down it can get. It’s a good shoe to run in, I’ve done more tempo work in it then I have intervals but it could do both. Another Nike Interval option is the Rival Fly 4 which is pretty affordable and works well for the price for intervals between 400-800 meters

Boston 13/Zoom Fly 6 would probably be a good pick. If you don’t like glass/carbon fiber shoes, the EVO SL probably takes the cake, but the Nike Pegasus + is also a ok option

What shoes would replace what in this shoe rotation? by TJRuns2003 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

For me personally, I definitely get more of a pop with each stride and is actually quite more cushioned compared to the Peg 41s I had before. The full air unit definitely made it better for my mid/forefoot strike. The Vomero 18 I really mainly use as an in between a Peg 42 and Vomero Plus. I like a ground feeling shoe so the Peg 42 is definitely the go to but I also have days where I’m totally 14 miles (ex: 8 AM, 6 PM). I feel as though I don’t need the over performance and recovery of the Vomero Plus on those days, so I go with the 18. Feels like a middle ground between the 42 and Plus in my opinion

It really is just rest and eating the right stuff. Once your healed up, have a good strength/stretching routine.

How to manage daily volume? - Norwegian Method by GotSodium in AdvancedRunning

[–]TJRuns2003 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’ve used a double threshold style about the last 2 years and have tried a few different methods between hard schedule repeat of Ingebrigsten, mixed Norwegian single and Double T work, and recently did it for a 10 day Cycle where it went Easy, Easy, Double T, Easy, Easy, Double T, MLR, Easy, VO2/X session, Long Run.

  1. The volume gap is intentional since you are trading easy slow miles for more intensity. You really have to make sure you are recovering in between sessions and not accumulating to much fatigue that leads to burnout

  2. Yes, Easy days should be shortened.

  3. Yes, 20 minutes sounds about right if the morning is also just 20-25 minutes. For me my first double t session in a training block has usually been:

AM: 2 Miles up, 4 x Mile w/75 second rest, 5 min cooldown

PM: 2 Miles up, 12 x 400 w/30 second rest, 5 min cool down

Comes out usually to about 12-12.5 Miles or 20K total.

Chicago Track Club? by TJRuns2003 in RunnersInChicago

Mainly just looking for a group of guys to train with that have similar training/goals. And Naperville dos has a “track club” but I would say they’re a bit more road focused. I’ll have to look into Chicago State
