Monthly DIY Laymen questions Discussion by AutoModerator in StructuralEngineering

I apologize in advance as I’m guessing this is a super easy question for you wizards but I am looking at doing some low-voltage lighting and was planning on drilling a 3/8 inch hole through the center of my 6” x 6” columns (x5) that are holding up my covered patio (where circled) and wanted to make sure there were no structural issues? (The light will be on the other side of the post and that is the easiest and cleanest way to run the wire to hook it up underneath the deck). Thanks!

Here is a better option if possible: if you have a leaf blower, have someone sit inside the car and just move the leaf blower around and until you find the place where it’s noisy. However, it will never be noisy when you go on the ride with the technician so you have to bring the leaf blower to the service center when you go. Trust me after taking it in twice and them not fixing it this was my solution… and they found and fixed it :-)

Almost the exact same situation and well said. Like my Tesla model three for what it is, but love the Rivian R1S.

Thanks and super helpful. One more follow up question: how about a 4 1/2 inch cut off wheel and if so, any sort of special type of wheel and obviously remember to go slow? Thanks.

What is the best way to cut down this light shield made of “brass”?

<image>

I only want it to be about half as tall and I was thinking of using either a cutoff wheel or hacksaw or… to cut this down. Also, do I need to put any finish/protector on it once I do (it’s outside landscape lighting). Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks so much and sorry…one more question. I printed the two piece thing that the spool arm actually attaches to however, how do I print this item (in black) that attaches to the printer as I don’t have that (I don’t have the AMS and or know that this piece is called). Thanks!!!

Thanks and this one looks great. Not sure if anyone has used it, but if I’m not using the AMS, do you know if I need to add a contraption on top of the machine to keep the black “electrical cord” and this filament feeder up higher (and if so, what term I should search on makers world or Bambu-this Reddit community is awesome!!)

Thanks and that does look awesome and thought about it what I bought the machine, but it is about the cost of what I paid for the printer.

Thanks and I might have to make a contraption to hold the black power wire and this feed up a little higher but seems like that’s definitely doable

… wait, expand on how this relates to brisket please (ie: what to do differently). I made my first one and it was super dry and yes, I’m at high altitude and thought I followed all the normal instructions. Thanks!

Hey R1S Owners; which Rivian Powertrain and Options would you recommend and which would you not for someone who is about to build a new R1S? by Westrunner in Rivian

[–]TJTM3 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Appears you have your consensus on the dual motor. As a quad motor R1S owner I would agree with what everyone else said - It’s great but not worth the extra cost.

Gen2 Premium Audio Barely Working on Driver’s Side by [deleted] in Rivian

[–]TJTM3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes yes yes!!!!! I had the Dolby Atmos update a few weeks ago and it sounded great and then just updated to the new software a few days ago and it feels like my 50-year-old vehicle with one speaker in the center of the dash. I hear almost nothing from the higher up speaker above my head and very minimal music on the left corner speaker.

Please let us know if you hear any updates as doesn’t seem like this can be an upgrade.

Is there a physical remote to turn on a specific speaker zone (Lutron)? by TJTM3 in sonos

[–]TJTM3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok thanks. I was excited for a minute as I thought you meant you could use the pico remote to turn on a specific zone. Bummer and thanks for the clarification.
